DIY “Frankenstein” Dress: My Coffee Needs Coffee & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #669
My coffee needs coffee and a whole bunch of bright colors. Thanks to Orly of The DIY Designer, I have found a way of repurposing my wardrobe into things that I will actually wear. With a bin full of unworn graphic tees and a pile of skirts that are too large or too unflattering, I had quite a few pieces to use in the crafting of some “Frankenstein dresses”. My oldest son recently coined the term when I made my first Frankenstein dress and it cracked me up. So now this is what I will forever call these cute DIY tee shirt dresses. By the way, a Frankenstein dress is…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Denim Skirts & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #668
September marks the beginning of the fall season in the northern hemisphere making it the perfect time to bring out our denim pieces. As we transition from the humidity of summer into the cooler autumnal months, denim garments can be worked more readily into your daily wear. We have featured denim jackets and jeans previously in this series, but this is a first for denim skirts. We invite you to share your favorites (or least favorites) with us this month. What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two…

Weekend Fun at Stony Fork Music Festival & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #667
We attended our second Bluegrass festival of the season last weekend and a great time was had by all. Outdoor camping adventures are always interesting. No matter how prepared you think you are, something always comes up that you are not prepared for. Fortunately, we tend to embrace things of this sort as memory makers. Who really remembers the mundane things that go as expected anyway? It is the unexpected things that we have to thrive through that stick in our memories. The last time I attended a festival at Stony Fork Creek Campground was Hickory Fest in 2019. That weekend had its own share of mishaps that created fond…

Floral Nightmare to Technicolor Dream
Remember this floral nightmare of a dress that I shared with you two weeks ago? I paid $6 for this horrid frock during my birthday thrifting adventure. Not only is it hideous but it is also five sizes too big. You may be wondering why in the world I would buy something that I consider ugly that is also too big. So I’ll just go ahead and tell you. I simply could not resist the fabulous oversized technicolor floral print. So I brought the dress home with high hopes of turning it from a nightmare into a dream. I think I succeeded. But I will let you decide for yourself!…

The Thrifty Six are Hot to Trot
You know that I live in a place where rock salt freezes in the winter, right? In my part of the country, we get some seriously extreme cold and very long winters with feet upon feet of snow. It is sort of like living inside a snow globe sometimes. And summers are mild and short with very few days that we even need to turn on the air conditioning. You might not know that Jodie lives in a climate that is the polar opposite. She gets extremely hot and terribly long summers with short and mild winters that produce little, if any, snow. I am in the northeastern part of…

Appreciate Your Feet & Your Own Twist Link Up #59
“The human foot is a masterpiece of engineering and a work of art.” Leonardo da Vinci Today is Appreciate Your Feet Day! Leo wasn’t lying. Our stair steppers are truly masterpieces of both engineering and art. The older I get, the more I do appreciate how my ground grippers have served me for 49 years and counting. When I was younger, I absolutely hated that my concrete caressers were the size of big flapping flippers. But it didn’t take me very long to realize the benefit of large-scale sidewalk stompers over small or average sized ones. Benefit one is that my floor flappers really are the size of fish flippers…

The Magnificent 8: In It for the Long Haul
Today’s post marks the 5th anniversary of this lovely collaboration of 8 magnificently stylish women, who have become my dear friends in fashion over this past half decade. Since 5 years is kind of a long time in the fickle world of fashion, we have chosen our quarterly theme to reflect the lengths we reach to keep this sassy alliance going. Cheers to us because we are in it for the long haul! The Magnificent 8 is a collaboration among 8 stylish women, each in a different age bracket, ranging from 20’s to 80’s. The mission of this collaboration is to show you just how ageless style is, how we can…
