Songful Style Link Party #17 | “What’s Love Got to Do with It” by Tina Turner
About Songful Style Songful Style is an ageless style challenge series hosted by Suzy of The Grey Brunette, Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, and Marsha of Marsha in the Middle. For this series, each month we will share a song with the lyrics and video and we invite you to use whatever aspect of the song that inspires you to create an outfit. It is similar to Style Imitating Art where we use artwork to inspire our outfit creations. Except Songful Style gives you lyrics, music, video, and album artwork to inspire your fashion creativity. You may even find inspiration in a memory triggered by the selected song. It is all open to your own…

The Thrifty Six: Wearing Our Soul Colors
Jane chose the colors of your soul for this month’s thrifty theme and what a thought provoking style challenge it has proven itself to be. While green has been my forever favorite color for my entire life, it cannot stand alone as my soul color. My soul is much too diverse and complicated to be defined by one single hue. A more accurate depiction of my soul in colors would be a burst of every shade perceptible to the human eye because I really do love all the colors. Some I adore more than others while others come in and out of my preference depending on the day or the…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Pearls & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #656
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos…

Road Tripping & Your Own Twist Link Up #57
Tomorrow is Take a Road Trip Day! Since we are leaving today for our annual road trip to Smoked Country Jam Bluegrass Festival in the Pennsylvania wilderness, I figured this was a great time to create a cute, comfortable outfit for 5 hours in the car. The weather is looking to be mild with lows around 50˚F (10˚C) at night and highs around 75˚F (24˚C) during the day with rain flitting in and out of the forecast. So layers will be necessary because I get too cold at 65˚ and too hot at 75˚. I threw together this easy outfit with my favorite tie dye joggers from Rainbow Zen. I…

Stealing Ts & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #655
I admit it. I am a thief. I have been stealing Ts anywhere I can find them. Ever since the T on my laptop keyboard quit responding to the gentle tap-tap-tapping of my fingertips, I have been forced to copy and paste the letter T every single time I need one. And you know what? We use a lot of Ts in the English language so I am becoming quite an expert at letter larceny. No Ts are safe from my copy and paste game. I will steal them from Google, from news articles and Facebook posts, from email messages, from your websites and from my own. Whatever window happens…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Pearls & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #654
Last month, we saw all things sheer and this month we are honoring the world’s oldest gem, the pearl. For our purposes, however, you don’t need to have genuine pearls. Fake and faux or plain old pearly plastic beads will do just fine. But if you do have genuine pearls to share, please show us those as well. I love pearls and have a few pieces with authentic pearls but most of my pearly things are undeniably and obviously fake pearls of the common plastic bead sort. Remember anything goes here. We are just having fun sharing our pearly pieces! What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is…

Divine Birthday Revelations
Happy birthday to me, y’all! Yesterday was the day of my birth 49 years ago. That’s 1974, for those of you who may not be super quick at math. Remember when the 1970s weren’t that long ago? And suddenly, in the blink of an eye, the decade in which I was born has gone from outdated to vintage. We Genaration X’ers are a badass group of middle age folks though, aren’t we? Adaptable and resilient, sensitive and strong, responsible and fun. We know lots of stuff because we lived through lots of stuff. And I am grateful for all of it, even the shit parts. If I have learned nothing…
