The Thrifty Six in Crochet Revival
Jane chose this month’s thrifty theme and it was like a sweet song for my bohemian soul. A crochet revival! Yes, please. I love the inherently relaxed vibe created by crocheted items, flashing us back to the antiestablishment countercultures of the 1960s and 1970s. It was a time of modern bohemianism, a rise in hippie mentality and an increase in openly alternative lifestyles. Crochet became an iconic fashion trend that represented the generation which gave birth to Xers like myself. In traditional Gen X style, we do like to revive old things and make them new, creating a sustainable way to remain fashionable on a budget. Because we have lived…

The Burnt Ochre Dress from Last Summer & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #756
If a picture is worth a thousand words, what are a thousand pictures worth? According to the principles of mathematics, the answer would be one million words. Although I am certain that I could write one million words, I don’t really feel like it. And you probably have little interest in reading the one million words that my very noisy and chaotic brain would string together anyway. So I will leave you with some words (far less than one million) and many pictures (a lot but much fewer than a thousand) of little ole me wearing one of my favorite summer dresses. Last summer, I purchased this dress in deep…

New Cowgirl Boots in Saratoga Springs & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #755
Ever since I bought my last pair of cowgirl boots over a year ago, I have been hankering for a new pair. In particular, I have really been wanting teal cowgirl boots. I found a few different pairs of teal boots from my favorite boot retailers, Country Outfitter and Boot Barn, but it took me weeks to decide which pair I wanted to have. I narrowed it down to two different pairs…the Corral Women’s Floral Embroidered & Rhinestone Studded Western Boots (the ones I bought) and the Circle G Women’s Floral Embroidered Western Boots. The pair I didn’t buy are so stinking cute, too, but I do not have any…

The Thrifty Six in “Double Trouble” Denim
Denim is not my favorite fabric. I find it harsh against my skin and rather confining and uncomfortable. While I do have a large pile of jeans that I don’t wear, only a few pairs are preloved and they all looked terrible on me. Other than that, I don’t have much thrifted or preloved denim. It is just not something I seek out in thrift stores or retail stores. So when Nancy proposed “double trouble” denim as our April thrifty theme, I was wholly unsure what I was going to do. I was in double trouble. So the first thing I did was visit my local thrift store in search…

Four Weeks in Tieks: The Versatility of Polka Dot Shoes & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #752
When I received my whimsical Echo Park ballet flats from Tieks four weeks ago, I wanted to see just how versatile polka dot footwear could be. I thought it would be a fun personal challenge to create at least four different outfit combinations featuring these spotted cuties on my feet. My first styling and official review of these shoes was a pairing of wide legged jeans under my dress of many colors. The colorful chaos of that first outfit led me to a lively hodgepodge consisting of a vibrant multi-patterned skirt from Daenel, a green tee shirt, and a floral robe. Clearly, these dotty shoes are working well with a…
