The Thrifty Six in “Double Trouble” Denim
Denim is not my favorite fabric. I find it harsh against my skin and rather confining and uncomfortable. While I do have a large pile of jeans that I don’t wear, only a few pairs are preloved and they all looked terrible on me. Other than that, I don’t have much thrifted or preloved denim. It is just not something I seek out in thrift stores or retail stores. So when Nancy proposed “double trouble” denim as our April thrifty theme, I was wholly unsure what I was going to do. I was in double trouble. So the first thing I did was visit my local thrift store in search…

Four Weeks in Tieks: The Versatility of Polka Dot Shoes & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #752
When I received my whimsical Echo Park ballet flats from Tieks four weeks ago, I wanted to see just how versatile polka dot footwear could be. I thought it would be a fun personal challenge to create at least four different outfit combinations featuring these spotted cuties on my feet. My first styling and official review of these shoes was a pairing of wide legged jeans under my dress of many colors. The colorful chaos of that first outfit led me to a lively hodgepodge consisting of a vibrant multi-patterned skirt from Daenel, a green tee shirt, and a floral robe. Clearly, these dotty shoes are working well with a…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Rainy Days
Spring is starting to spring in the North Country but sadly we still have snow in the forecast this week. As much as I don’t like the rain that leaves us damp and muddy until May or June, I do welcome the warming temperatures that turn the snow into rain. So let’s have a look at what you all wear for those rainy days of spring. The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short…

Songful Style Link Party #36: “Wish I Knew You” by The Revivalists
It was my turn to choose the song for March and I went with “Wish I Knew You” by The Revivalists. Although this song was released 9 years ago, I heard it for the first time about 4 or 5 years ago and fell in love with it immediately. And now 4 or 5 years later, I watched the official music video for the first time and I fell in love even more. The Lyrics You shine like a starYou know who you areYou're everything beautifulShe's hot, hot like the sunThe loneliest oneStill everything beautifulWell I'll be god damnedYou're standing at my doorWe stayed up in the cityUntil the stars lost the warSo…

Tieks Take 2: The “Daenelization” of My Vegan Polka Dot Shoes & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #749
Do you remember my dotty Tieks from last week? Well, they are back again with this Daenel-inspired outfit that is not at all warm enough for the current weather here. But I am trying my best to manifest spring temperatures to arrive soon. I do it every year but it never works. Unfortunately, we are not in a frost-clear zone until mid-May at the earliest. So my springy outfits are merely fantasy at this point. But a girl can dream. And another girl can give the most amazing gifts! Do you remember that big box of beautiful that Daenel of Living Outside the Stacks sent to me last spring? Although…

I’m Dotty for Vegan Tieks & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #748
The dainty feminine style of ballet flats has always appealed to me, but I have never really found this style of footwear to be very comfortable for my rather oversized flipper feet. But that never stopped me from purchasing dozens of pairs of ballet shoes over the years. And almost all of the pairs I had accumulated failed me and my ground grippers. In fact, when we featured ballerina shoes for The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book two years ago, I owned 17 pairs of ballet flats that I rarely wore because I found them to be incredibly uncomfortable and completely void of any helpful foot support. Due to their shortcomings, I…
