Four Weeks in Tieks: The Versatility of Polka Dot Shoes & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #752
When I received my whimsical Echo Park ballet flats from Tieks four weeks ago, I wanted to see just how versatile polka dot footwear could be. I thought it would be a fun personal challenge to create at least four different outfit combinations featuring these spotted cuties on my feet. My first styling and official review of these shoes was a pairing of wide legged jeans under my dress of many colors. The colorful chaos of that first outfit led me to a lively hodgepodge consisting of a vibrant multi-patterned skirt from Daenel, a green tee shirt, and a floral robe. Clearly, these dotty shoes are working well with a…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Rainy Days & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #750
April Showers, indeed! The snow is still lingering in our forecast but it has fizzled down to mostly flurries. The warmer temperatures are starting to sporadically appear but that has just led us straight into the rainy season, otherwise known as mud season in the North Country. So for April’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, we are shining the light on our rainy day gear! What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also…

Tieks Take 2: The “Daenelization” of My Vegan Polka Dot Shoes & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #749
Do you remember my dotty Tieks from last week? Well, they are back again with this Daenel-inspired outfit that is not at all warm enough for the current weather here. But I am trying my best to manifest spring temperatures to arrive soon. I do it every year but it never works. Unfortunately, we are not in a frost-clear zone until mid-May at the earliest. So my springy outfits are merely fantasy at this point. But a girl can dream. And another girl can give the most amazing gifts! Do you remember that big box of beautiful that Daenel of Living Outside the Stacks sent to me last spring? Although…

I’m Dotty for Vegan Tieks & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #748
The dainty feminine style of ballet flats has always appealed to me, but I have never really found this style of footwear to be very comfortable for my rather oversized flipper feet. But that never stopped me from purchasing dozens of pairs of ballet shoes over the years. And almost all of the pairs I had accumulated failed me and my ground grippers. In fact, when we featured ballerina shoes for The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book two years ago, I owned 17 pairs of ballet flats that I rarely wore because I found them to be incredibly uncomfortable and completely void of any helpful foot support. Due to their shortcomings, I…

Easy DIY Sweater Pillows & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #746
I have been getting really bored with the snow and the winter chores so I decided to clean out my sweaters and find creative ways to upcycle them into new and useful things. I have a lot of sweaters and I tried on every single one of them before deciding whether to keep or repurpose. I ended up keeping about half and removing the other half from my wardrobe. I recently watched the Netflix documentary Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy which highlighted the staggering amount of waste we create from the overconsumption of goods. While it was kind of corny in its format, the documentary definitely was enlightening about each…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Winter Coats & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #745
As winter is finally nearing its end in just three weeks, we decided to feature winter coats for this edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. So before you put your cold weather coats away for the duration of the warmer seasons, let’s give those coats a big old round of applause for keeping us warm through this very long and cold winter season. What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Adventures in Thrifting Part 18: Bohemian Ruana & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #744
I am sharing some fall photos for today’s Adventures in Thrifting post because we are really quite buried in snow right now. And it just keeps coming. With a vengeance, it seems. The snow banks in my front yard are higher than my porch and taller than me. I have lost half of my driveway to the giant frozen glacier that formed from all the snow and icicles falling off of my roof. Now I am just patiently waiting for a warm spell to magically melt it all. I would love to see some green grass and feel the warmth of a blazing sun on my face. Despite the 5000…

My Simple DIY Poncho & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #742
Happy Friday, everyone! We are still buried in snow where I live and it just keeps snowing. I have been spending most of my days in fleece lined leggings, a hoodie, and snow boots. If I am not outside shoveling snow or splitting wood, I am inside keeping the fire burning and the house running. I am content and satisfied, but I am also cold and tired and ready for spring. So today I am going to share an outfit that is also ready for spring (and photographed in summer). Do you remember my DIY corduroy wrap that I shared in the fall? I made this cute little poncho from…
