Think Pink for Autumn & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #782

As you may already know from my many adventures in thrifting and my various upcyle projects, I am passionate about secondhand shopping and giving new life to old things. But sometimes I do still love to shop my favorite retail stores and add some brand new pieces to my wardrobe.

As we transitioned into the colder months, I finally had to put my summer dresses into hibernation and take inventory of my leggings, tee shirts, and long cardigans as these three items constitute the basic formula for my every day cold weather wear.

I was getting a little bored with my leggings and tee shirts and wanted to add a few new colors to my fall wardrobe palette. I purchased the slouchy pink tee shirt first, using rewards points so it was basically free. Then I spotted these raspberry colored leggings and the color really appealed to me. It is very different from the current colors in my leggings collection and it captures the more feminine side of traditional earthy colors for autumn.

Finally, I encountered this lovely pink and gray long cardigan that I simply couldn’t resist. When I brought it home to my closet room, I quickly realized that I had inadvertently purchased a perfectly coordinated fall outfit in shades of pink. And so I ran with it.

Keeping consistent with the color palette, I wore my old burgundy floppy hat and added a fabric belt from a tan floral dress as a hat band. I almost always incorporate a scarf into my cold weather outfits so I wore my burgundy and white paisley scarf with burgundy tassels. Since I don’t have any pink cowgirl boots (I do want a pair eventually), I opted for my trusty old black cowgirl boots. My necklaces include a long black tassel, a crochet wrapped stone, and a pink and burgundy wooden necklace. My purplish pink butterfly wing earrings are also a new addition that I found at a flea market a few months ago.

I really do try to include something secondhand in every outfit I wear. It makes me feel more authentically myself as an avid thrifter when I put those preloved pieces to work. Since most of this outfit was purchased new at retail prices, I made sure to include secondhand jewelry. Even though I found my earrings at a flea market, they are handmade not preloved. But my pink and burgundy necklace was preloved so I at least included one secondhand thing. My kids bought this necklace for me from a used jewelry stand at a local flea market and I was so excited at how well they know my style! And my mother-in-law just sent me a very similar necklace in shades of brown that I am very much looking forward to wearing.

My fall and winter outfit formula feels a lot like pajamas. And that’s how it should be as far as I am concerned. Winter is for rest and rejuvenation so I might as well dress for the occasion…relaxed, cozy, and comfortable!

Do you like shades of pink for fall and winter? Or do you prefer to stick with a more traditional color palette in your seasonal wardrobe?
