Strut Boutique & #SpreadTheKindness Link #84
This past weekend, I ventured out into my little community of Watertown, New York, to do some shopping in the downtown area. I have visited Strut Boutique on a few previous occasions as I had collaborated with the owner, Ashley, on a local fashion event and had attended her first annual Strut the Runway ~ A Cancer Survivor Fashion Show last year. Ever since I first discovered her adorable little boutique which opened in 2016, I had been wanting to feature her in a blog post. Well, as you know, life often derails us from our intentions and we get too bogged down in the mundane necessity of daily responsibilities…

The Chase for the Perfect Panties & Link Up On the Edge #105
Just last month, I shared with you my Great Underwear Debacle where I vented my lifelong frustrations about the women’s underwear market…”I have spent my entire life chasing the perfect panties. I think they may be quite like unicorns. And if I ever do find them, I am going to capture them all!” Well, I do think I have found them…the unicorns of panties. Keep reading… Strangely, coincidentally, serendipitously, or by whatever other paranormal forces were in action, a few days after I published that post, I was contacted by Tommy John inviting me to try some pieces from their new women’s intimates line. Naturally, I had assumed that someone…

When Bloggers Meet & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #83
When bloggers meet in real life, magic happens! Every single time that I have had the opportunity to meet a blogger friend in real life, it has been the most amazing experience. Never did I ever imagine what a fabulous group of people I would be calling friends when I first began my blogging journey. But through all the posts that we each read and share, you do begin to sort of “know” these bloggers before you ever meet them in person. And you get a good feel for the ones with whom you are sure to make a connection. Two weeks ago, I was traveling to visit family in…

Lazy Summer Days, LipSense, and Link Up On the Edge #104
These summer days are as lazy as can be! I haven’t left the house since Monday’s visit to the dentist for the kids’ appointment. I barely get dressed and I often go the entire day without ever putting shoes on my feet. I take a shower and throw on something easy, cool, and casual…and now that I have lost my fear of my tummy sticking out, I have transformed a few ill fitting tee shirts into crop tops. If I feel compelled to take photos of what I am wearing, we head off to the back yard and snap just a few improperly lit and poorly posed shots. However, today…

Inspired by Jersey Girl, Texan Heart: Owning It in a Cropped Top & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #82
If you recall just last week I shared a post about how blogging has made me bolder in my style choices. Well, it seems that one little post of wearing a cropped top (and walking around in public in said cropped top) has ignited an inferno of bravery coming from this 44 year old overweight married mom of two. And I am now taking the phrase I will wear what I like to a whole new level by my very own standards. With age comes wisdom. With wisdom comes confidence. And apparently with confidence comes a whole lot of nerve. When I saw my friend Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan…

Inspired by Champagneista: Red Floral Kimono & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #81
Clearly, I have been finding inspiration all over the place in blogland recently! This will be the 4th post added to my Inspired By series in the past month alone. Way back when I first started my blog (nearly 3 years ago), I was trying to write a weekly post called Little Bits of Inspiration where I would share 5 of my favorite things that I had read on the internet during the preceding week. For some reason, I lost my gusto for that series fairly quickly and the posts became sporadic at best. I would keep a running list of posts and articles that I wanted to feature in…

Raising the Future & Link Up On the Edge #102
Raising the Future. Oh boy. That is an intimidating responsibility, isn’t it? An obligation that must be taken seriously. One that we cannot approach by simply flying by the seat of our pants. The moment we bring our children into this world or assume custodianship of a child, we become primarily responsible for forming and shaping their world views. And their views of the world will determine how they go forth into adulthood, it will impact how they view all things, it will contribute to their reactions, their work ethic, their level of emotional maturity. Their beliefs and convictions on nearly every matter are influenced greatly by our own beliefs…

The Truth About Random Acts of Kindness & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #80
I found this definition of random acts of kindness on Wikipedia, “A random act of kindness is a nonpremeditated, inconsistent action designed to offer kindness towards the outside world.” According to an analysis of this phrase and its origins, the original construction of random acts of kindness implied a level of anonymity which seems to have been lost in the current generation. A generation which has formed various groups throughout the world dedicated to sharing acts of random kindness. But anonymous or not, the world can use such acts of kindness even if they stray from the original concept of nonpremeditated and inconsistent. Premeditating and planning acts of kindness even…

When a Bad Dream Reminds You & Link Up On the Edge #101
Have you ever had a really bad dream that startles you awake and shakes you right down to your core? It’s as if you can feel your soul shiver and you can’t erase the images that flashed through your mind. Even after you have (thankfully) awaken from the dreadful reflection that your subconscious decided it was going to deliver to you. It’s dark. It’s creepy. It elicits feelings of dread that you thought you had conquered a lifetime ago. Yet, there they are again. Those old feelings that you believed you had laid to rest. Prominently displayed in your mind’s eye. Seemingly urging you to process all of those long…

Frustration is Fruitless & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #79
When I woke up this morning to get this post written for publication in a less than a timely manner, I quickly discovered that my Wi-Fi was not working. Like not at all. After implementing all the basic troubleshooting techniques to no avail, I did a quick search on my phone to discover that Spectrum, my internet provider, was experiencing outages throughout their entire service zone of 25 states. Okay, then. That’s what I get for procrastinating. While the service outage is clearly not my fault, the putting off getting my work done in a timely manner is entirely my fault. So getting frustrated and angry at Spectrum and their…
