The Fab 40’s Meet My Inner Child
All too often it happens that we lose touch with the innocence and whimsy of the inner child that is the foundation upon which our adult selves have evolved. When that connection between inner child and responsible adult falters, life will just start killing you at too rapid a pace. As we get older and more and more obligations pile on, it becomes very easy to get disconnected from that childlike joy that was once the only kind of living we knew. You know, when we were actual children. Carefree and cared for, playful and guileless, spontaneous and absolutely inside every moment. Moral compasses are passed down like heirlooms and…

Tribute to Texas & Link Up On the Edge #196
I hate when I run out of words. My own words. It happens sometimes, I know. But it is still super frustrating. Rather than allow it to totally piss me off, however, I decided to turn outside of my brain and share some words that have already been written. Not by me. Let me explain. A long, long time ago, my favorite place on earth was Texas. I used to travel there frequently for work and I absolutely loved everything about it. It also held a very special place in my heart as my father always spoke of Texas as his favorite place on earth as well. I never got…

What to Wear to a Spring Birthday Party & Your Own Twist Link Up #20
Today is not my actual birthday. That comes next week. It is also not my blog birthday. That comes in August. But it is time for our monthly style challenge. Monica and I chose Spring birthday party outfits for this month’s Your Own Twist because May is the month where I celebrate the most birthdays. In fact, I just ordered a birthday cake for this Saturday to celebrate life and friendship. With the Memorial Day holiday weekend upon us and social distancing measures slowly easing, we will be cooking outside with our neighbors, enjoying fresh air, good food, probably lots of drinks, and a birthday cake from my favorite baker,…

Watching and Wearing 2 & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #173
I think I have been existing in a vortex of pot smoke and boredom for so many weeks now that I feel like the outside world maybe isn’t reality. With the weather finally beginning to resemble spring, the kids have been spending hours outside which leaves me to my own whims. But my whims are few and far between because there is still no where to go and not much to do. So I cuddle up in my cozy sweaters and scarves because I am still freezing even in the middle of May and then I escape into the television. It makes me feel like there is something more than…

Inspired by Jaymie Ashcraft: Camo, Black, and Snakeskin
I don’t know how it is that I have never before created an outfit inspired by Jaymie of Everyday Style by Jaymie Ashcraft. I first became acquainted with Jaymie way back in 2015 when we both began our fashion blogs right around the same time. I have always loved the casual outfit formulas that she shares featuring pieces that are easy to find in your own closet. But if you happen to not have a particular item and you think you might want to buy it, Jaymie also provides links to similar or exact pieces at very reasonable budget-friendly prices. Her commitment to showcasing wearable and affordable outfits for everyday…

Weekend Recap with Evolution CBD Cream & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #172
This past weekend was quite a strange one from celebrating Mother’s Day in seclusion to some freaky snow storm that descended upon us. We woke up on Saturday morning to a winter wonderland, but fortunately it warmed enough to melt it all by Sunday morning. While snow in May is not uncommon where I live, by this point in the year I am really quite over it. So I was thankful that Mother’s Day was sunny and pleasant although a bit on the chilly side. We were able to head out to the park and take some photos of my Mother’s Day outfit while the kids rolled down the giant…

Inspired by Pinterest: Pink Tights & Denim Shorts
With every day feeling nearly the same as the day before and the day before and the day before, I am seriously struggling with creating content for you all. But I am trying my very best to keep things light hearted and fun, interesting and positive. Sometimes the fun is just in wearing bright colors and crazy clothes because in all honesty I don’t do much these days except homeschool my kids, work on my blog, read when I can, and watch movies and television series when my brain is too exhausted for anything else. Overall, these weeks spent in lockdown have made me lazier than I have ever been.…

13 Things I Have Learned in my 40’s: Celebrating a Very Special Day with Ada
I am joining my dear friend Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood once again to celebrate her birthday. Each year Ada invites some of her blogger friends to get dressed up for a birthday party and share our looks on or around May 4. This is the fourth consecutive year that I have helped Ada celebrate her special day. You can see my past outfits that I have worn for Ada’s birthday here, here, and here. This year is a super special birthday for Ada. Not because we are being forced to celebrate virtually (we do that every year for Ada’s birthday), but because it is a milestone birthday for her…

The Truth About Birds & Link Up On the Edge #193
I dedicate this post to my friend Debbie of Fashion Fairy Dust… I suppose a more adequate title would be “My Truth About Birds” because what I am about to say is merely my own opinion and my own irrational musings and not at all based on any type of actual scientific facts. The stories below, however, are based on actual real personal experiences in my life. Birds are freaking creepy creatures. (See, not at all a scientific hypothesis.) I don’t like them. I never really have. And I have tried so hard to give birds a shot at winning my affection. But to no avail. When I was very…

Inspired by the NFL Draft & FOCO
Just because all of the sports have been canceled and many of us are mourning the loss of our beloved past times, it doesn’t mean that you can’t still show your support for your favorite teams. If you followed my Sunday Afternoon Quarterback series this past football season, you may remember that I converted from a tepid Pittsburgh Steelers fan to an enthusiastic Carolina Panthers fan. With the NFL draft for the 2020-2021 season just wrapping up last week, I felt like it was time for me to start adding more Carolina gear to my sports fan wardrobe. Today I am teaming up with FOCO, one of the nation’s leading…
