Friday Favorites #6 & Link Up On the Edge #203
I have not posted a Friday Favorites since April when we were just a little over a month into quarantine mode. I had such high hopes back then of accomplishing grand things while I was relieved of basically all duties outside of my home. And now here I am, four months into quarantine, and I really have not accomplished much at all. Shame on me. Or whatever. Who really cares? I kind of needed a rest. While I know things are slowly opening up and people are venturing out with ease and excitement, I plan to continue staying at home by choice for now. There is just too much crazy…

Christmas in July & Your Own Twist Link Up #22
Christmas in July! I chose the theme. Then I had no idea how the heck to create a suitable outfit. I searched Pinterest and all I could find were party decor ideas and baby outfits which left me having to rely on my own creativity…which seems to be dead. Dead creativity is a loss that is very difficult to mourn. Hopefully, it can be resurrected soon. I am just not sure how. Your Own Twist is a monthly themed style link party hosted with my dear friend Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart. This collaboration allows us to showcase our own interpretations of a chosen style theme each month. We share the…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Orange
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye. This month’s theme is Orange. We have accepted…

Love in the Land of the Free & Link Up On the Edge #202
While the United States recently celebrated its 244th birthday as a sovereign and free nation on July 4, we also had a recent anniversary worth celebration on June 26 that many of us probably missed…unless, of course, this anniversary has impacted you directly. Five years ago, on June 26, 2015, the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of recognizing and granting all the same constitutional rights for same sex marriages that opposite sex marriages enjoy. (See Obergefell v. Hodges). Five years after that 5-4 Supreme Court decision, on June 29, 2020, the town of Somerville, Massachusetts, passed a city ordinance which effectively redefined the definition of marriage and family…

Inspired by Sharing a Journey: How to Style Joggers
A long while back, (I have lost all sense of time so I cannot say how long ago), I had a little conversation with Jodie about my inability to effectively style joggers for non-workout purposes. I have tried dozens of times to mimic photos I have seen on Instagram and Pinterest where these gorgeous women are strolling casually down a city street wearing joggers with pumps or heeled sandals and looking perfectly purposeful in this paradoxical outfit combination. I would try a similar combination, look in the mirror, and say out loud, “Gosh, you look ridiculous.” Time and again, the same result, until I was about ready to give up…

Happy Independence Day, America: May We Continue to Make Progress
As we are sitting in the midst of the craziest year on record in the lives of most of us, I think today is an important day to reflect upon the nature of progress. Progress comes forth through conflict, in one way or another. Whether it is personal progress that arises from some internal conflict or the progress of our entire species that is born from major conflicts in the world, we need this conflict to push us forward. Without it, we would simply remain exactly where we are as we are. And that is not necessarily a good thing. Change and progress are necessary for the survival of the…

Red, White & Blue Outfit Inspiration & Link Up On the Edge #201
Tomorrow is Independence Day in the United States. Tradition includes cook outs in the back yard and wearing patriotic outfits in the colors of our national flag. Did you know that red, white, and blue are the most common colors appearing on national flags all around the world? To kick off the holiday weekend, I am sharing some of my favorite red, white, and/or blue outfits that would be perfectly festive to celebrate the anniversary of our nation’s independence. What are your plans for the 4th of July weekend? And now your featured favorites from two weeks ago. Reader Favorite (Most Clicked) Jaymie of Everyday Style by Jaymie Ashcraft shared…

Inspired by Age of Grace: Pink Kimono Style
Without this amazing blogging community, I really don’t know how I would survive this great void of quarantine. I have lost so much motivation, so much inspiration, so much drive these past few months and I feel like there is no end in sight. I am certain I am not alone in these feelings right now. Even as we are slowly emerging from lockdown, I am just not ready. I like the safety and seclusion of my home right now so I will continue staying here until my anxiety and agoraphobia begin to subside. In the meantime, however, I have been relying on my blogger friends to inspire and motivate…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Orange
Last month’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book featuring formal wear was a bit more challenging than some of our other themes and I am not so certain that this month’s theme is any less challenging. For me at least. For July, we are looking for all things Orange. You are welcome to submit to us anything that is orange in color or just simply has some orange in a pattern or perhaps you have an article of clothing that features a citrus fruit print. This includes any outfit, outfit pieces, or accessories that feature the color orange. What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our…

The Fab 40’s are Festival Ready
Happy Monday, y’all! I am back from a long over due break. Over the last two weeks, I have found myself on a crazy roller coaster of emotions which resulted from a whole bunch of nonsense going on in a very private part of my life. I think the emotional roller coaster derailed some time about three weeks ago and I tried to keep riding that broken contraption for about a week before I finally realized that I must disembark from this busted ride and do some necessary repairs! Most of the repairs have been completed with a few counseling sessions, lots of time spent in quiet contemplation, and hours…
