Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Mini Skirts & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #767
It is time for another round up of archived outfits. This time featuring mini skirts.
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?
The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.
Remember anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a brief description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. You just need a camera and an email address! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post.
Everyone is invited to join us in August to share your favorite (or least favorite) Mini Skirts. All you have to do is snap a photo or two and email us with a short description so you can be featured in our Good Buy/Good-Bye Book on August 15, 2025.
Skirts are probably my least favorite garments but that hasn’t stopped me from having a bunch. While I don’t wear them often, I still keep some on hand for when the mood strikes. From mini to midi to maxi length, I have worn all the skirt styles over the years but I have been steering away from skirts recently and wearing dresses instead. I have also been transitioning away from anything mini, much preferring longer skirts and dresses as they suit my style better. But that doesn’t mean I can’t still rock a mini skirt! Let’s check out the mini skirt outfits from my archives.
But first, what makes a skirt a mini skirt?
According to Wikipedia, a mini skirt (or mini dress) has a hemline that falls above the knees, generally hitting the mid-thigh. A skirt or dress with a hemline hitting the upper thigh would be called a micro-mini and might expose your privates if you bend over the wrong way! Since we aren’t stringent rule followers here, I am calling any skirt or dress a mini if the hemline hits anywhere above the knees. If I can see your knees, then it’s a mini for the purposes of this edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and we would love to see it!
Now onto my mini skirts…as you will see I wore many minis and the number grows the further you go back as far as 2019. Before 2019, it seems I didn’t really prefer mini skirts at all.
2025
I have worn only one mini skirt this year, evidence that I have transitioned away from mini anything. And this one isn’t even a skirt. It’s a dress that I styled as a skirt.

I have worn way more mini skirts (and mini dresses styled as skirts) than I had realized over the past 10 years. I have kept a few because we know that fashion can be as fickle as my style preferences!
If you would like to share your Mini Skirts with us, please send your photos and descriptions to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com by the 10th of August so we can put you in the spotlight. You are welcome to send two photos if you’d like to be featured on both blogs.

For a gal who doesn’t care much for skirts, that sure is a great collection! Love the little tartan numbers! Mini skirts? just part of my history but no photos still around.

Thanks, Pamela! I went through a long phase of loving little tartan mini skirts! I have kept a few of those around just in case I am inspired to get sassy in a mini skirt again but mostly I prefer my comfy long dresses these days. I hope you have a most wonderful weekend!

Hi, Shelbee. You can certainly style a mini! I would not be able to do so. I’ve been thinking that you lost weight. These pictures confimed what I thought. You look great!
Thank you for hosting. This would be a wonderful addition to the generic linkup at Gma’sPhoto.
Stop by any time.
Take care and best wishes.

Oh my goodness, thanks so much, Debra! I had lost over 40 pounds since I started my blog in 2015, but recently I have gained about 15 back and I am not happy about it. But I will get back to where I want to be soon enough! I hope you have a lovely weekend, my friend.

Your least favorite? I’m shocked. Because in my thinking, skirts can be more than just skirts…
I’ll send one example for the Good buy

Definitely my least favorite! Hahaha But I still have tons of my least favorite things. LOL I have worn some skirts as dresses or tops but I guess I don’t do it enough to hold onto a ton of skirts anymore. I love the photos you sent me for the mini skirt prompt. You are so creative, my friend!

So many fabulous mini skirt outfits!

Thanks, Joanne! This was a fun one to look back on especially since I don’t really wear them much anymore.

Loved to see your style evolution! Thanks for hosting the link-up and have a great weekend!

Thanks so much, Di! I really enjoy looking back on how my style has evolved as well. It’s funny how some outfits were really cute when I wore them but looking back can get a little cringey! LOL

I did it…this must be a record for me! Now, I have to look for one for Nancy! I don’t wear many mini skirts as I move too much and don’t want the world seeing what the good Lord gave me! But, being a child of the 70s, I definitely wore them then!! Thanks for the link up!

Yes, you didi! And I love the photo you sent me. So adorable! As I was looking back over the years of my mini skirt wearing, I realized I didn’t wear them when my kids were younger for that same reason. Mini skirts and chasing toddlers never really worked well without unwanted exposure of your private parts!

I never wear mini skirts any more, though I think they are cute. I just don’t think they look cute on me anymore ; )
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
That’s kind of where I’m at with mini skirts myself. They are cute, but they just aren’t me anymore. I love looking back on how my style as evolved over the years though!

It’s fun to see how styles evolve, both personally and generally, isn’t it?
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
It really is! I have always enjoyed fashion for as long as I can remember. So it is always interesting to look back on the evolution of fashion and personal style.
