The Thrifty Six are here not only to inspire you to shop second hand but to also get creative in your closets. Sally chose this month’s style prompt,…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Tartan
Welcome to December’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book featuring all things Tartan (or plaid, checked, checkered, etc.) I have always loved plaids and tartans. It is one of my favorite pattern types because you can find it in countless different color combinations, sizes, and fabrics. Not only do I adore tartan clothing, I also love plaid in home decor items. But it doesn’t appear much in my home because, no matter how much I adore plaid, my husband absolutely despises it. He attributes his distaste for the pattern to having been “forced to wear plaid shirts as a child”. I guess he probably already hated plaid back then since he had to be “forced” to…

Snow Days & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #735
My life has been nothing but a series of snow days lately. Our total snowfall over Thanksgiving weekend was between 4 and 5 feet depending on where you live in the city. Jeff’s car was completely buried but the kids and I managed to dig it out. It took half the day, but we did it! There is giant dent in the top of the car from the snow falling off the roof of the house and we her antenna got snapped off. But our vehicles are just as resilient as we are to this crazy weather so I know she’ll be okay. Then we had a few warm rainy…

Moving Snow & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #733
Snow season is here and it is abundant. A lake effect snow warning has been issued for my town from this morning through Monday night. I live right in the center of the white area on the map above. Some forecasts are predicting snowfall totals of 71 inches for Watertown. Yes, you read that correctly. Seventy-one inches. That would be nearly six feet (5.91667 feet to be exact). One hundred and eighty centimeters (1.8034 meters). In case it isn’t obvious, that is a lot of snow to move around. I don’t understand why people use the term “snow removal”. There is no removing. It is only moving it from one…
