In just a few short weeks, I will be holding my very first styling seminars at a fabulous local event…The 2nd Annual Girls’ Weekend Getaway hosted by a local fundraising group Helping Hands/Making It Count Event Planners. The Girls’ Weekend Getaway will be held March 31-April 2 at the Ramada Inn in Watertown, New York. You can read more about the details on the event’s Facebook page. And my outfit today is a perfect example of how…

Feeling Whimsical with Rosegal & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #11
Merriam-Webster defines whimsical as lightly fanciful or subject to erratic behavior or unpredictable change. The dichotomy between these two separate definitions just gave me a right hearty chuckle. While I am feeling lightly fanciful in this adorable lacy dress from Rosegal, I am simultaneously suffering from yet another whimsical decision made by the Army! Any member of the military or their dependents reading this knows exactly what I mean. Yes, my friends, the Army is classic for its erratic behavior and unpredictable changes. And we members of the military community suffer all too often at its whim! *Disclosure: This dress was provided to me for review. All opinions and thoughts…

What To Do When the Tired Sets In: Developing Healthier Sleep Habits
I know I am not the only one who feels like I am in a perpetual state of tiredness. I don’t know if it is parenthood, middle age, or just poor sleeping habits. Probably a combination of all of those things and more. But somehow, I get up everyday before 5:00 a.m. and trudge through the day, accomplishing what I can along the way. By about 7:00 p.m., I am completely done. Exhausted. Out of patience. Energy depleted. And ready for bed. And then, suddenly I am wide awake making a mental list of all the things I didn’t get done and need to attempt tomorrow. If you are like…

The Truth About Mental Illness & Link Up On the Edge #32
Many of you may already know that I have a history of Bipolar Disorder. And if you didn’t know, now you do. Recently, someone asked me how I have dealt with this disorder and if I could offer some input for a loved one of theirs who is suffering from depressive episodes. I unfortunately did not have adequate time to elaborate on how I overcame my mental illness. So I am dedicating this post to that person (who will remain anonymous due to privacy issues) and giving the topic the time it deserves and needs. If you have never suffered from mental illness or have never loved a person with…

The World Is Your Oyster & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #10
Did you ever hear that phrase? It is one that I have carried with me for many, many years. There once was a very influential man in my life…when I was in my mid-twenties. I was going through a divorce. I was still trying to discover myself. I was trying to figure out the person whom I wanted to be. I was working full time and going to law school at night. I was driven. I was determined. I was spiraling out of control. Much of this period in my life is really just a blur. It is sort of unfortunate that I don’t recollect much of it. Or maybe…

Stripes and Floral with a Zaful Necklace & Link Up On The Edge #31
Today’s post is going to be mostly pictures and fewer words as I have a million things (well, maybe 12 things) to get done today in preparation for heading to NYC this weekend! I am meeting up with a dear old friend for coffee and breakfast. Then I am meeting up with a dear new friend for a little blogger chit chat! And I am super excited! *This necklace was provided to me for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. If there is anybody in the NYC area this Saturday, I will be free around noon if you want to catch up! Just let me know. (Would someone please…

Comfortable in My Own Skin and #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #9
Do you ever just not feel comfortable with your own body? Nothing fits right? Nothing feels right? And you get stuck in a style rut of baggy ill-fitting clothing that will simply hide it all? This has happened to me…especially since having children and turning 40. My body is not what it was 20 years ago, 15 years ago, or even 10 years ago. Even in my mid-30’s when I had reached a weight and clothing size that was quite foreign to my former athletic self, I still was able to comfortably wear tight tops and even tuck them in. Then I had children, then I turned 40, then perimenopause…

COTD & Link Up On the Edge #30
What is COTD, you may be wondering… Well, it stands for Colors of the Day and it is a super fun daily challenge hosted by a fabulously stylish couple in Oregon, Mercedes and Andy. Every Monday through Friday, they choose 2 colors/patterns/themes and challenge us to post photos of outfits, art work, nature, just about anything really, that combines the two colors, patterns, or themes. Not only are the challenges fun, but they get you thinking and being creative with your closet. And…the members of the group who participate are probably the most sincere, most genuine, most creative, most colorful, most supportive, and kindest group of people you will likely…

Chambray Shirt Dress and #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #8
Today, I want to highlight this fabulous light chambray shirt dress that just came into Shelbee’s Shoppe. I love the A-line shape of it, making it perfect for wearing as a jacket over another dress, which is my favorite way to wear any shirt dress. There are two reasons for this. 1. I am a huge fan of layering. It creates more interesting dimensions in an outfit, provides extra warmth, and hides all sorts of imperfections. 2. As a girl with a big boobs, shirt dresses rarely button without gaping, so the best solution I have found to these #bigboobproblems is to just wear all button downs (shirts and dresses…
