The Sunshine Blogger Award & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #113
The Sunshine Blogger Award. I am sure many of you have seen this floating around in blogland. This peer recognition award has been around for quite some time. I can’t find any information regarding the origins of The Sunshine Blogger Award, but I do recall receiving a notification a few years back when I just began my blog and I think I didn’t do anything with it because I wasn’t entirely sure what it was all about. Now I have better grasp of it. So whomever that was over 3 years ago who nominated me for this, I apologize that it went completely unacknowledged on my part. My bad, my…

Life’s Great Paradox: The Ambiguity of Time with Jord Watches & Link Up On the Edge #135
I find myself pondering the anomaly of time lately. At nearly 45 years old, right in the middle of my life (based, of course, on the current life expectancy of 78 years for an American woman), I often experience this strange sensation of inconsistency as I hear myself saying, “Life is short, live it well,” followed quickly by, “You have all the time in the world to get things done. Take your time and do it right.” And it makes me question, which is it? Do we have all the time in the world? I guess, sometimes we do. And then we see lives ended abruptly due to tragic events,…

Wednesday’s Quote of the Week: We All Have a Voice
I don’t consider myself a feminist. Mostly because the term is overflowing with political intonations and I am in no way a political person. However, I do believe in equality of all people. Regardless of gender, race, religion, age, sexuality, educational status, economic situation, or political beliefs. I don’t care if you are red, green, blue, polka dotted, love giraffes or big game hunting. I don’t care if you prefer real fur over faux fur or if you spend all of your money on video games or high end purses. What I care about is that we all treat each other with respect, love, and kindness. But as a person…

Little Red Dress Event & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #112
On February 22, I attended a women’s networking event hosted by my favorite financial advisors, Nichole Wall and Laura Nicol of New York Life Insurance Company. The theme for the event was the Little Red Dress in honor of heart health awareness month. I was invited to be one of the guest speakers to share some of my favorite styling tips, but earlier that week I came down with laryngitis that left me completely and totally silent. Like no sound would come out of my mouth when I spoke. But it’s all good because in light of the other guest speaker for the event, my topic of discussion felt quite…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Long Cardigans
It is that time again to share some of your favorite and least favorite items for March’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. This month we are featuring long cardigans. I have a closet filled with cardigans of various lengths, but I definitely prefer a longer one that at least covers my bum. I appreciate the elongating effect of a duster length cardigan as well. So you may be wondering what constitutes a “long” cardigan”. I guess anything that goes past your bottom and beyond will do! In just 11 days, Nancy and I will be posting the thirteenth edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and we would love for you all to join us! The theme for…

Inspired by Monica and Ewa: Poncho Love & Link Up On the Edge #134
Happy Friday, my friends! I have to say I am getting seriously bored and frustrated with the Winter weather now. I’m cold and there is always snow on the ground. And at this point in the season, the snow is all mucky and black and splotchy and just plain old gross! Although just the other day, we did get a fresh new coating of clean snow…again. It will be all icky in a day or two. But complaining about the weather really is quite fruitless. It brings me no joy and it changes nothing. So I’ll stop there and move on to sharing with you another outfit inspired by some…

Wednesday’s Quote of the Week: The Importance of You
In yesterday’s post, I referenced the documentary about Fred Rogers and shared a quote by producer-director Morgan Neville on radical kindness. Discussing Fred Rogers inspired me to share some of his best quotes for a Quote of the Week post. I haven’t done one of these quote posts since my wedding anniversary in January and I still had some photos left featuring the same outfit from yesterday’s post as well. So here they are…more outfit photos and some of my favorite Fred Rogers quotes. “If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may…

Love and Radical Kindness Win & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #111
I have heard this Carrie Underwood song at least 100 times, but I never actually listened to the words until the other day. I was flipping through television channels and landed on CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown and they aired the Love Wins video as the number 2 video on the countdown. The visuals caught my attention, drew me in, and I found myself really listening…and tearing up as I watched. Maybe it’s PMS getting me all emotional. Maybe it’s just life and all the crazy that exists in this world. Maybe it’s simply because truer lyrics have never been written, yet so many continue to disregard the message. Maybe it’s…
