What I Wore for Our 15th A-Day Date & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #741

Jeff and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Since his retirement from the Army four years ago, we have settled into a really nice anniversary tradition. If it falls on a weekday, Jeff takes off from work so we can spend the day together. Nine of our first eleven anniversaries, we were hundreds to thousands of miles away from each other due to his military obligations so now Jeff won’t miss an anniversary for anything and I am here for it!
Over the years, the anniversaries all start to blend together, especially when they are spent apart from one another. But I do specifically remember our first wedding anniversary. We lived in Pennsylvania at the time, I was four months pregnant with Archie, and Jeff was on a month long training assignment in Georgia. I was so sad sitting there alone in our tiny little one bedroom apartment that I decided to get dressed up and take myself out to dinner and a movie. I remember enjoying a lovely solo meal at Fegley’s Brew Works in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, but I cannot remember which movie I saw.
While our new anniversary day tradition does not include the movies, it absolutely does include amazing food. Our A-Day schedule usually goes as follows: take the kids to school; go stuff our faces with the deliciousness served at Gram’s Diner in Adams, New York; then spend the rest of the day doing old married couple things like grocery shopping, taking blog photographs, and running other errands. It might not sound very romantic to most, but we really enjoy our alone time together with the extra bonus of getting stuff done!

For our breakfast and errand date on this very cold and snowy January Thursday, I knew I wanted to wear my fabulous new purple hat yet again. I hope you aren’t getting tired of seeing it yet because I just love it so much and plan on wearing it frequently.
For this outfit, I wanted to really hone in on the purple and green colors of my hat. So I decided to create I a color blocking effect with a deep purple tee shirt, olive green leggings, and a purple scarf. Then I kept thinking yellow would look really cool with the purple so I added my mustard velvet kimono robe as a topper. In keeping with the whimsy of my hat, I wore my new earrings that have a highland cow print on them and layered on my Zen Spirit Malas. My green set of mala beads broke yesterday and I am still on the verge of tears over it. I need to order a new set or figure out to put this one all back together myself.
My boots and coat are really old. I acquired the coat through one of my very first blog collaborations and I purchased these gray suede riding boots when I lived in Pennsylvania, so they are at least 12 years old…almost as old as my marriage!

This colorful outfit felt perfectly appropriate for running errands, celebrating my marriage, and brightening up a really gray and white day. I loved it so much that I have worn it three more times since last Thursday!

Happy, happy A-Day! I’m so glad you’re now able to spend this day together. You look fabulous and can wear that hat all the time as far as I’m concerned! It is gorgeous! I really appreciate the way you layer different things so effortlessly and come out with a stunning look! Our snow is all gone, and it will be 60 on Monday. That means those remaining piles of snirt (love that word) will be gone, too. I really miss true winters though I’m sure you are pretty much done with them. Thanks for the feature. Something is up with my laptop so I’m unable to link up right now. I’ve got to get my IT guy (my son) on the problem. First, I’ll have to explain to him what a link up is, though!

Marsha, thank you so very much! I definitely have mastered the art of creative layering for wicked cold winters! We have some warm days with rain coming this week so I am hoping it will wash away most of the snirt before the next big snowfall. Punxsutawney Phil says 6 more weeks of winter but we have more like 12 weeks here before we are safely out of snow and frost season. Good luck with your laptop fix! I am sure your son will get it all working properly for you. Have a fabulous week, my friend!

Congratulations! Our 15th anniversary is in May but I always struggle to remember the date because it should have been April 23rd (an erupting volcano was to blame!). I love your hat, I can see why you want to wear it on repeat! Fabulous kimono too!
