The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Jewelry with a Story & Link Up On the Edge #304

Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.

The theme for July is Jewelry with a Story. We asked you to share your special pieces of jewelry that have sentimental meaning or simply fun stories attached to them, where they came from, and why you love or hate to wear them.

*If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.

Now let’s read some jewelry stories!

“This bracelet is actually getting too ugly to wear. It’s 20 years old. I bought it in Canterbury when Gerben and I first went to England together. After that we fell in love, I already was, with the country and we have been there more than 30 times. But this bracelet reminds me of that exciting first vacation and rediscovering places from my childhood.”

“When my grandmother J died in 1996ish, my Aunt Lois (her daughter, my Dad’s younger sister) took what she wanted from the jewelry and I was permitted to take whatever I liked from the rest. I had always wanted these earrings, which are from the 1950s, and by Renoir (the ‘by Matisse’ is the lines with enameling detail), and this wee ring. I’m pretty sure the ring is by Bell Trading Company, but it’s the earrings that are the most special to me, as I remember her actually wearing them in the 70s.”

“I bought the orange cabochon from a person with whom I was briefly acquainted on the Internet. And then I made this necklace. The cabochon was a good-buy. My feelings on the necklace vacillate. It’s such a unique piece that it isn’t very versatile. But every once in a while, it’s just perfect.”

“Here is a necklace given to me by Lesley from my blog. It was her mother’s necklace, but she doesn’t wear green, so she gave it to me. I just love how it contrasts against the orange sweater.”

And Me!
I always love picking unique jewelry pieces as souvenirs when I travel. I found both of these gorgeous “Frankie” necklaces on my last road trip to Asheville, North Carolina, in the sweetest little shop called Traveling Chic Boutique. They will always remind me of the fabulous time I had on that trip!”
