The Perplexities of Social Media & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #126
Humans beings are social creatures. Even the least social among us still require community and interaction to survive in the modern world. Sure, there are some people who choose to live off the grid, but it is only through social education that they have acquired the skills to survive such a remote lifestyle. Social media at its most basic level has been integrated into human societies as far back as ancient times when the first postal services were created as a means of long distance human communication. Probably few of us even consider ancient postal services as a form of social media in the context of the modern world and…

Just a North Country Cowgirl & Link Up On the Edge #148
I think I have wanted red cowgirl boots ever since I saw Ariel wearing those iconic red boots in Footloose 35 years ago. You know the ones I speak of, don’t you? Didn’t every young girl want to be as badass as she was back in 1984? I am certain I had cowgirl boots back then, but they definitely were not red. And I was only 10, so I am sure that even if I had red cowgirl boots, I certainly was not permitted to be as damn sexy as Ariel, the defiant preacher’s daughter. Wasn’t she the perfect example of teenage rebellion, too? And she got to make out…

Inspired by Gwen Stefani: The Power of Clothing
Just last week, the Fab 40’s and I brought you some outfit stylings inspired by our favorite fashion icons. If you read that post, then you know that my outfit was inspired by the spectacular Gwen Stefani and that I photographed two separate outfits. I ended up not featuring this particular one for two reasons. The first reason is that I photographed the other outfit in front of murals of rock icons and that seemed to be the perfect setting for the Fab 40’s theme. The second reason being that once I created this look, I realized that it is absolutely something I would have fashioned on my own without…

Wednesday’s Quote of the Week: Celebrating Love in All Its Forms
If you are a regular follower of my blog, you know that I stay far, far away from making any type of statement here that may be perceived as even the slightest bit political. And while this post is merely about celebrating love in all its forms, it may still be interpreted as a political statement by some. But I don’t think it should have anything at all to do with politics. Yet, it does. Sadly and disappointedly, politics seem to enter every realm of our existence right down to trying to tell us who we are allowed to love and even how many we are allowed to love. You…

Finding My Country with Country Outfitter
Happy Monday, y’all! It seems I have gone a little bit country! I warned you that this possibility existed about a month ago when I shared some of my favorite cowgirl boots from Country Outfitter. I don’t know what happened, but I have become a girl obsessed with cowboy boots. I have always had a smidge of country girl somewhere deep down. I mean, the very first CDs I purchased when we transitioned from cassette tapes to CDs were Tim McGraw and Alan Jackson. But I remained a closet country music fan for many years, afraid that a northern girl would be judged for appreciating some southern music. In my…

The Most Spoiled Girl in the World & Link Up On the Edge #147
I cannot adequately express my gratitude for all the beautiful birthday wishes I received yesterday via social media, private messages, phone calls, and visits bringing me the most perfect little gifts and treats. You all really know how to make a girl feel special. I am blessed beyond words and I do not feel deserving. On top of all the birthday spoiling I received yesterday, I also came to a very clear realization that I may just be the most spoiled girl in the world. Every single day of my life. Most of you probably already know that my husband left on Tuesday to spend a month in Louisiana for…

Celebrate With Me
Today is my birthday. I am 45 years old. I feel younger than I did when I was 25. I feel healthier physically and mentally. I feel ready to accept and conquer any challenges that come my way. I feel better equipped to deal with all the ups and downs of life. I feel blessed to be alive and more willing than ever to embrace every single moment that I am given as an opportunity to live this life to the fullest. At 25, I took life for granted. I made plans for the future never realizing that the future doesn’t ever pan out as planned. I wasted too much…

My Blogging Life (with Five Local Business Plugs) & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #124
If you are a blogger, you know that everywhere you go you are constantly on the lookout for photo opportunities. Yes, I plan outfit photo shoots on mornings when my husband and I are available to drive somewhere and sneak a quick shoot in before the day begins. But then there are those days, like weekends and holidays, when family time becomes the priority. But as a blogger, you still have photo ops on the brain! So yesterday, my husband and I decided to load the kids up in the car and drive to Clayton, New York, which sits on the Saint Lawrence River near Lake Ontario with Canada just…

The Fab 40’s and Our Favorite Fashion Icons
Fashion is a crazy thing, isn’t it? We all have our own personal style whether it is simple, eclectic, conservative, or completely far out there. And we all draw inspiration from the things that surround us whether it be art, nature, architecture, sports, music, or television. And when it comes to fashion in particular, we tend to get our inspiration from other people, people we know and see in our communities or those elite members of society who have established themselves as “famous” and live their lives in the public eye. This month’s theme was chosen by Jennie and she gave us the challenge of creating outfits inspired by our…
