Outfits of the Day #ootd
I love to put together outfits. I find something calming and exciting in the process. And if I think I look good, I tend to feel great! Hopefully, you can find some inspiration here for feeling amazing in your own body.

My Plaid Poncho
The September issue (which came out in August) of Redbook Magazine featured this red plaid poncho in their piece “Fab Fall Style Under $100.” It is from Old Navy, one of my favorite places to shop. And for only $39.94 for wool-blend outerwear, I thought this was a great deal! But I couldn’t find it in Old Navy for a really long time. I would check the store, then the website. Nothing. Finally sometime in October, there was the poncho available online. But I really wanted to check out the quality in person before making my purchase. I kept checking in the store and it was not there and the…

Candy in my Scarf and Crazy Pants
Readers with children, have you ever heard things come out of your own mouth that you never imagined you would say? Things like, “Please stop licking the bottom of your shoe!” or “No, you may not play in the toilet.” If you have small children or did at one time, you are all too familiar with the very strange happenings that frequently occur! I recently experienced another one of these moments when I got dressed in my crazy pants and decided a heavy scarf was the only cold weather accessory I needed. I am an avid scarf collector and this giant blue knit scarf is one of my absolute favorites.…

Stay Sassy…and Style Art Review
Disclaimer: I was gifted this tee shirt from Style Art in exchange for my review. I received no other compensation and all opinions stated are my own. Recently, a representative from Style Art contacted me with a request to collaborate. I had no knowledge of the company, but after some research, I discovered that it is a company comprised of graphic artists who use clothing and home décor items as their canvases to display their artwork. Style Art provides a forum for freelance graphic artists to showcase their designs. And I am always game for supporting an artist, especially if the design speaks to me. I was given the choice…

Socks, Sandals, and Boho Stripes
I have been wanting to try the socks and sandals trend, but I was a bit nervous about whether I could pull it off. So I kept it simple for a cool Fall day with dark earthy tones. I actually planned this outfit from the feet up! I started with my super long, thick, warm, and cozy burgundy socks paired with my very comfortable footbed sandals in deep brown. Keeping with the autumnal hues, I went with darker wash jeans. I have seen this trend of socks and footbed sandals with skinny jeans, but I just wasn’t feeling skinny jeans this day. I tried it with boyfriend jeans, but it…

Getting in Touch with My Inner 4 Year Old
This outfit was inspired by my new mom friend, B. Her kids go to school with my son and recently she and I were talking at the school playground about one of my favorite topics…clothing! I was telling her that I had a bunch of really cute skirts and dresses that I was itching to wear but “where the hell am I going dressed like that…the playground?” Her response was perfection: “Yeah. Why not? My four-year-old is running around the playground in her dress!” Thanks to B., I decided why not start wearing my dresses and skirts…even if am only going to the playground. As long as I’m comfortable, I’m…

One for the Playground and a Random Act of Kindness
Two weekends ago, my husband’s BFF, A., and I took his daughter and my boys to the park for a little autumn fun. There was the perfect amount of wind for kite-flying so we went to Carthage Park because they have a nice big open field up on a small hill. The kids were having a blast flying the kite until the kite got stuck in a tree. A very nice, albeit quite strange, older man (he was at the park with this 4 grandchildren), came to the rescue. He offered to climb the tree and retrieve the kite. I was shocked when he removed his shoes and climbed to…

Olive Green Cardigan and Garlic Olive Hummus
This outfit is a combination of three current trends that I am really digging right now: dark floral patterns, stripes, and the oh-so-popular Chelsea boots. Add in one of my favorite colors, olive green, and I feel super! I put this outfit together to attend an FRG (Family Readiness Group) meeting last week. These meetings are held periodically to keep family members updated on the schedules and happenings within our soldiers’ military units. I don’t usually attend, but with my husband currently deployed, I obviously like to keep myself abreast of what’s going on. I also look at it as an opportunity to style a new outfit! These meetings are…

Believe in Your Selfie
I suppose the message on my graphic tee speaks volumes, especially for fashion bloggers. A powerful message deserved an edgy look to go with it. So I layered a long plaid button down shirt on top in a traditional blackwatch plaid which is reminiscent of 90’s grunge. My graphic tee is in a very pale shade of blue which contrasted nicely against the darker blues and greens in the plaid. Dark wash skinny jeans, distressed lace-up booties, and layered thin necklaces completed my edgy look. Do you have any graphic tees that really speak to you? If so, what do they say? Keeping it edgy, Shelbee

Military Inspired with Real Combat Boots
I have always had an obsession with military inspired clothing since long before I ever met and fell in love with a military man. I have sort of become tired of all things camouflage, but I still adore my black Army tanker boots that were a gift from my husband years ago. And I still have a weakness for Army green. And I definitely have a huge crush on stripes right now. So why not pair a black and white stripe sweater with an Army green field jacket and combat boots? Throw on a scarf to keep it feminine and I have created one of my favorite looks so far…

Bright Stripes and a Puffer Vest
I received a text message on Friday from my friend A. that Old Navy was having their great fall haul sale and had puffer vests for $15. Now A. is a big fan of puffer vests, but I am not so much. While I think they look super cute on her and on most women I see wearing them, I think they make me look sort of, well…puffy. But, for $15, I thought I would give a puffer vest a try. I happened to run into A. when I made my quick puffer vest stop at Old Navy. I’m glad I did because I couldn’t decide which of the many…
