Next Up for Style Imitating Art…

About Style Imitating Art

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Terri of Meadow Tree Style, and Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday, one of the hosts, acting as presenter, selects an inspiration image that they will each post on their blogs. The following Monday, each host shares her art inspired outfit. Participants are invited to submit their art inspired outfits to the presenter by 10:00 p.m. EST on the Tuesday following the hosts’ art inspired outfit posts. The following day, Wednesday, the presenter will share all of the submissions on her blog.

You don’t have to be a blogger to join either! In fact, you don’t even have to join but you can still use the art to inspire an outfit just for the sake of trying something different. If you want to share your inspired outfit, we invite you do so on Instagram or any other social media platform that you prefer. Just be sure to tag SalazarTerri, and Shelbee or use #TeamLOTSStyle and #StyleImitatingArt so the hosts know you have joined. Go have some fun in your closets and join the SIA challenge next week!

This Week’s Presenter

It was Salazar’s turn to pick and since we have had quite a few classic paintings recently, she went with something a little bit different…London Underground posters from 1924, designed by Canadian-British illustrator Austin Cooper. Salazar chose these posters because she was drawn to the colors and the graphic. Plus she was tickled by the tagline, “It’s cooler/warmer down below,” as it sounds like a cheeky ad for Hell!

Hop on over to Salazar’s post to read more about the artwork she has chosen and why.

The Artwork

You are welcome to create an outfit inspired by just one poster or both or any other general inspiration that hits you for this one. Here are the poster images separately in case you only want to focus on one.

Cooler Down Below was the summer poster which was issued to promote comfort in traveling by Tube when the weather is hot.
Warmer Down Below was the winter poster which was issued to promote comfort in traveling by Tube when the weather is cold.

I honestly have no idea what I am going to do for this one, but I am definitely loving the variety of colors and the cool graphic. I have to go stand and meditate in my closet room for a while, I think! Something will certainly reach out and grab me.

If you want to be featured with your art inspired outfit in Salazar’s review post on April 6, 2022, be sure to submit your photos to her at 14shadesofgreyblog@gmail.com by 10:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

Happy styling!

Keeping it on the edge,

Shelbee
