The Magnificent 8 in Peach Fuzz: Pantone’s Color of the Year

Everyone seems to be raving about Peach Fuzz, Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2024, but I am not one of them. In fact, I have very little in peachy hues as it is one of the least flattering colors on me. And I don’t think I am alone on that.

Although Pantone is recognized globally as the leading source of color expertise, this year’s expert analysis certainly didn’t include someone of my complexion or taste preferences in their data. The internal consulting service known as The Pantone Color Institute forecasts global color trends which assist companies through product development using color as a strategic asset. These color experts have forecasted Peach Fuzz as the trending color for this year.

“PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It’s a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.”

“In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”

Leatrice Eiseman
Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute™

If my outfit looks familiar to you, it’s because I shared it on Nancy’s blog last week for the Peach Fuzz edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. These photographs are from last August when it was warm enough to wear such an outfit. I am longing for the sweet summer weather to return so I can ditch the leggings and bare my toes.

I found this long sundress on clearance for under $10 last summer. I was drawn to the leafy print in this unique combination of purple, coral, and peach and I am always a sucker for a long flowy sundress because they are the perfect companions for my kimono robe collection.

I also purchased this butterfly ruana last summer and was pleasantly surprised by how well the two pieces coordinated. The butterflies seem to be an even closer representation of Peach Fuzz than the colors on my dress.

To accentuate the black outlines in the butterfly print, I accessorized with lots of black…black hat, black belt, black rope sandals, and a pile of black leather necklaces. My only accessories that are not black are my orange leather feather earrings.

While I don’t love Peach Fuzz, I do love this outfit and can’t wait to wear it again this summer. It makes me feel radiantly warm, warmly radiant, modernly elegant, compassionate, youthfully timeless, and timelessly youthful, just as Pantone’s Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman, has described the effects of 2024’s Color of the Year. Maybe the color experts do know a little something after all.

I really like how the black details ground the lighter colors Shelbee. I’ll send you some of our warm weather because it’s glorious here.

Aww, thanks so much, Jodie. I rely on black a lot to anchor my outfits. But I have really been embracing brighter colors these days. It looks like we have some gorgeous weather coming next week. Hopefully it will stick around!

I am with you on the peach fuzz! I prefer it to be left on the actual fruit! It’s just not flattering on me at all. But, I think your outfit leans more into the red and is much prettier than peach fuzz. I love how you combine the prints of the dress and ruana and then go the extra step of accenting them with the black. It’s really striking that way! I hope it warms up for you soon!

Thanks so much, Marsha! Last summer, I found myself very drawn to yellows, reds, and oranges and bought a bunch of things in these colors. As long as I keep red in there, I think I can actually wear orange and yellow. They are such joyful colors and that’s what I want to be wearing these days. But I always rely on black to anchor my outfits. It looks like we have warmer days coming soon!

This is such a pretty dress on you and I like the print mixing with the cover up! it’s a great way to work in some peachy tones to your outfit! You nailed the theme 🙂

Thanks so much, Mica! As much as I don’t really like peach, I do really love this outfit! It is super cheerful and makes me feel bright and beautiful. You did an amazing job with this peachy theme, too!

Shelbee, I couldn’t agree with you more…I’m not a fan of Peach Fuzz either! I’ve never been very fond of any shade of peach to be honest with you. Although thinking about it now, I probably do wear slightly peachy shades of lipstick lol!! But despite all this, I think you look absolutely gorgeous in this ensemble!!
    Big hugs

Thanks so much, my friend! Peach has never made it onto my favorite colors list either! But if I put some deep reds and purples in with it, I can pull it off. I do like trying all the colors though so this was fun to find a way to work an unflattering color into my wardrobe. I don’t want to leave any colors out!
