SIA Gallery of Style | Tree of Life by Keith Haring

About Style Imitating Art

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Terri of MeadowTree Style, and Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday, one of the hosts, acting as curator, selects an inspiration image that they will each post on their blogs. The following Monday, each host shares her art inspired outfit. Participants are invited to submit their art inspired outfits to the curator by 10:00 p.m. EST on the Tuesday following the hosts’ art inspired outfit posts. The following day, Wednesday, the curator will share all of the submissions on her blog.

You don’t have to be a blogger to join! You are invited to share your images on Instagram or other social media platforms. Just be sure to tag SalazarTerri, and Shelbee or use #TeamLOTSStyle and #StyleImitatingArt so the hosts know you have joined. Go have some fun in your closets and join the SIA challenge next week!

Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for this round of Style Imitating Art.

Daenel of Living Outside the Stacks

Daenel is wearing the coolest dress by Kantha Bae over a pair of flare leg jeans with sandals. She says that the flowers and the colors of her dress are giving her every bit of life. What a perfect representation of a painting that celebrates life! I want this whole outfit to find its way into my closet!

Living Outside the Stacks
Reni of Reni’s Odds and Sods

Reni went with a recent outfit that features bright colors and Hawaiian vibes with a bold floral that works great for representing the tree of life. It is such a cheerful look. I need a Hawaiian shirt in my life!

Reni’s Odds and Sods
Michelle of My Bijou Life

Michelle decided on a super cheerful and bright colorblocked outfit in pink, yellow, and green. I can’t help but smile when I look at her. This is such a super fun look!

My Bijou LIfe
Sally of Within a World of My Own

Sally struggled with creating a new outfit for this challenge, but she found a recent outfit of the day that works perfectly. She chose this outfit because the boldly printed scarf reflects the bright joyful colors in the painting. It is a gorgeous scarf and it really stands out over a simple black and white outfit.

The Co-Hosts
Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey

Salazar’s look came from some brainstorming that led her to her William Morris waistcoat which she layered over a very pretty shirtdress. The colors and the leafy print on her waistcoat mimic the colors and the tree motif of the painting. Although the colors are more muted than in the painting, it is a beautiful and cheerful outfit that very adequately represents a celebration of life!

14 Shades of Grey
Terri of MeadowTree Style

Terri honed in on the tree, focusing her outfit on green and black. The fabric of her blouse has always reminded her of tree bark texture so it is the perfect piece to choose for this challenge. She shared two different looks. The one with the jacket is her favorite, but I am loving the look with her green Melissa shoes. Bu you all know that green is my favorite color ever. What a beautiful shade of green and two very lovely outfits.

And Me!

I focused more on the dancing figures at the bottom of the painting with my bright green stick figure tee shirt circa 1989. I went with a full on 80s look to represent the era and the joyful colors in this celebration of life!

Shelbee on the edge

Thanks again to everyone who joined this week’s SIA challenge. You all did such a beautiful job representing the painting as well as celebrating life!

*If you have submitted a photo and it was not included, please let me know and I will make the necessary edits. Sometimes emails get lost in the shuffle.

Also be sure to stop back on Monday, August 12, 2022, for the next art inspiration. It is Salazar’s turn to choose.
