SIA Gallery of Style | Gypsy Vardos by Various Wagon Artists

Y’all know how I love putting together the Gallery of Style for Style Imitating Art. Although it is a very small gallery this time, the outfits that resulted all made me squeal with delight. And I need some delight this week for it started out like a stinky fish. Our beloved bunny George died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday morning. We are all a little shaken and a lot sad. Rest in peace, El Gorgé (that was the children’s favorite nickname for George), you are missed.

Okay, sad stuff done. Well, not really because I suspect I am going to be sad for a while. But enough of it here, right now. Let’s check out these fabulous gypsy inspired looks for this week’s challenge.

About Style Imitating Art

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Terri of MeadowTree Style, and Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday, one of the hosts, acting as curator, selects an inspiration image that they will each post on their blogs. The following Monday, each host shares her art inspired outfit. Participants are invited to submit their art inspired outfits to the curator by 10:00 p.m. EST on the Tuesday following the hosts’ art inspired outfit posts. The following day, Wednesday, the curator will share all of the submissions on her blog.

You don’t have to be a blogger to join! You are invited to share your images on Instagram or other social media platforms. Just be sure to tag SalazarTerri, and Shelbee or use #TeamLOTSStyle and #StyleImitatingArt so the hosts know you have joined. Go have some fun in your closets and join the SIA challenge next week!

The Inspiration Artwork

You can read why I chose this specific piece as my inspiration artwork here.

The Artwork
Gypsy Vardos by Various Wagon Artists
The Gallery of Style

You were invited to choose any wagon as your outfit inspiration so I am sharing your photos beside a picture of your chosen vardo.

Marsha of Marsha in the Middle
Wanting to live in a vardo, Marsha built her outfit around a beautiful skirt with a scroll print design and a tank top with an intricate front overlay. She completed her look with the most gorgeous velvet jacket. It is all so perfectly gypsy!

Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey
Due to uncooperative weather, Salazar had to abandon her first outfit idea of a waistcoat that mimics the colors and opulence of the wagons. Instead she donned this lovely floral print dress which reflects some of the ornate vardo designs. Her blue belt and red shoes are a nod to the rich colors and lavish wagon interiors.

Terri of MeadowTree Style
Terri chose a green and a gold wagon as her inspiration because the colors worked best with her wardrobe. She created her stunning outfit for the symphony with a preloved linen jacket in celery green combined with gold and neutrals. The embroidery on the jacket is a brilliant detail for this challenge as well.

And Me!
I tried to wear every print, pattern, and color that I could combine to represent all the fabulous details of these gypsy wagons, inside and out.

Thanks to everyone Marsha for joining this week’s SIA challenge!

*If you have submitted a photo and it was not included, please let me know and I will make the necessary edits. Sometimes emails get lost in the shuffle.

Also be sure to stop back on Monday, May 1, 2023, for the next art inspiration. It is Salazar’s turn to choose the art.
