Shelbee on the Rags: “The Everything But…” Rag Curtain Collection
This rag curtain collection was inspired by my “Ratatouille” Rag Curtain which I almost named “The Kitchen Sink.” But as I was building “Ratatouille”, the idea came to me to create a coordinating collection of curtains around the idea of using all the colors and all the leftover scraps from other raggery projects. Essentially, throwing in everything but the kitchen sink.
Conveniently, upon completion of “Ratatouille”, my plastic baby pool filled with rag scraps was still abundantly filled with rag scraps. Enough rag scraps, in fact, to make whole set of matching curtains.
And so I decided to name the large door sized curtain, “The Kitchen Sink.”
I have been building these curtains while they are hanging on a door and they always end up ridiculously lopsided for some reason. I finally figured out how to stop this from happening by rigging my dining room table to build curtains that aren’t lopsided. My table is just a tad larger than most doors so it is a perfect working space. And Slim Jerry is wonderful company while I work. Look how crooked the curtain was when I built it on the door!
I measured the correct length on the table and evened her all out. So much easier!
And then I hung it on the door to fill in and fluff up the top portion of the curtain.
Finally, I built the matching valances. They are called “The Bathroom Sink” and “The Junk Drawer”.
These rag curtains are for sale as a set or individually.

I hope they get sold really quick! Isn’t it just a lovely thought that something you made will hang in someone’s house or shop!

I hope so, too, Nancy! I am so enjoying making them. It really is a spiritual experience for me. I do Reiki through every step of the creative process to ensure that each curtain is cleansed of negative energy and infused with only positive energy. I always feel Kathrine‘s energy whenever I were the mala beads that she made so I hope others will feel a similar good energy coming from the things that I make. Thanks so much for all of your support, my friend! Love you!

Oh my goodness, thank you so much, Marsha! You have no idea how happy it just made me to learn that you guffawed at the curtain names! I think I get just as much joy from naming them as I do from creating them! I hope you have a lovely weekend as well!

Hehehe, thanks so much, my friend! I get just as much joy from naming them as I do creating them! Slim Jerry was actually borrowed from a friend for Halloween. And the friend keeps forgetting to take Slim Jerry home when he stops by. So we are thinking Slim Jerry is here to stay! Once I confirm that I will probably put him in the Halloween storage in the basement. But for now, he sits at the foot of the dining room table waiting to be picked up!
