Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Tartan & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #734

It is the beginning of the month and the end of the week which means it is time for this little reminder for our monthly Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and a link party to celebrate the weekend.

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.

Remember anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a brief description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. You just need a camera and an email address! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post.

Everyone is invited to join us in December to share your favorite (or least favorite) Tartan (plaid, checked, checkered) things. All you have to do is snap a photo or two of something with a tartan pattern and email us so you can be featured in our Good Buy/Good-Bye Book.

I have always loved plaids and tartans. It is one of my favorite patterns because you can find it in countless different color combinations, sizes, and fabrics. Not only do I adore tartan clothing, I also love plaid in home decor items. But it doesn’t appear much in my home at all because my husband absolutely despises plaid. He said his hatred comes from being forced to wear plaid shirts as a child. I guess he probably already hated plaid back then since he had to be “forced” to wear it in the first place. Plaid and pink are the two things he has politely “forbidden” as dominant decor themes in our home. It cracks me up.

Despite my husband dispassion for plaid, I have a lot of it as you will see below.

That’s a lot of tartan, y’all! So I am stopping there!

Shelbee, you must have a fantastically organized photo archive to inspire us with all of these plaid outfits through the years! I hope you are faring OK in the snow! The Watertown area has been in the weather news due to the massive amount of lake effect snow you got, and it looks like more on the way!!😱 I guess you are used to it and prepared. Take care!

Di, thank you so much, my friend! Actually, I am way less organized than one would expect. LOL I just scroll through my entire blog to find the pictures I want. It is a time consuming process but it’s also fun to scroll back through and revisit old posts. We are definitely used to these insane amounts of snow but I am already done with it this season and the season has barely begun! I spent an entire day last week cleaning a 4 foot high snow bank from across my driveway and off the top of my husband’s car. A few hours later, the 4 feet of snow that had accumulated on the roof of my house fell into the driveway, putting another 4 foot high snow bank across my driveway. And then, it just keeps snowing. It is laughably frustrating. Hahaha. But we do have some warmer temperatures and rain coming next week which should wash a lot of the snow away. But it will also probably cause flooding. Ha. I am ready for spring! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I think that stron patterns, like plaids, really suit you, Shelbee. With your strong colouring and strong [ersonality 🙂 In my country, plaid is called tartan (like in Scotland)

Hi, Shelbee – Plaid is not a favorite of mine but I do enjoy outfits with a plaid shirt or jacket. At the moment, I don’t have any at all. Button-downs usually gap on me and some of my shirts didn’t drape well and were uncomfortable. My black watch plaid blazer was too big on me, as it was a hand-me-down from my sister. I’ve been looking for a new plaid shirt and blazer. It’s hard for me to find because most of them are high contrast in this pattern and my natural coloring is low-to-medium contrast. You certainly do have a LOT of plaid in your wardrobe! And it all looks good on you. I like how you styled some of it a la Vivienne Westwood. Thanks for sharing your wide array of outfit photos in this post! – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

Thanks so much, Angie! It seems I have been wearing a lot less plaid recently. Like I am outgrowing it a little bit. I much prefer flowers and more feminine prints these days. But fashion is fickle so I am sure I will cycle back around to wearing more plaid. I also don’t really like button down shirts. The buttons gape on me and they are always a really unflattering length. I hope you are able to find the plaid pieces that you are looking for. Wishing you a very blessed holiday season!

      xoxo
