Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Summer Shoes & Link Up On the Edge #298
When Nancy and I first began this series as The Bad Buy Book, we kicked it off by featuring “sitting shoes”. You know those shoes that are so utterly fabulous that you cannot bear to part with them but they are atrociously uncomfortable so all you can really do is sit and look pretty in them? I have a bunch of those shoes and I do like to show them off occasionally especially since I give them valuable closet space. But comfy shoes are way better than sitting shoes.
So when we made the transition from The Bad Buy Book to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, we started with shoes once again. Any shoes would do for that challenge…just sharing favorite pairs whether they were good or bad buys. But “shoes” is kind of general and we are running out of general ideas after nearly 5 1/2 years of choosing monthly themes.
So for this month’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, we are revisiting the theme of shoes but with a specific seasonal twist. Won’t you join us in sharing your favorite Summer Shoes…it could be flip flops or espadrilles, sneakers or sandals, boat shoes or water shoes. Heck, if you wear cowgirl boots in summertime like I do, you can share those as well. Anything goes if you have happy toes! Or unhappy ones, for that matter, because this series also features things that you will say good-bye to!
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?
It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description explaining if the item was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome. We will give you the theme for the next month in each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month. So please join us for June by sending some photos and descriptions of your favorite (or least favorite) Summer Shoes to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com by June 10, 2022. You are welcome to submit more than one photo if you would like features on both of our blogs.
Anyone who knows me at all knows that I have an obsession for all things fashion related, but shoes are absolutely at the top of my list of favorite things. I have been shoe obsessed for as long as I can remember. I recall getting a new pair of canvas Nike running sneakers when I was 5 years old. They were navy blue with a white swish and white soles. I was so excited and so in love with my new shoes that I slept with them under my pillow for a week until my mom caught me and told me how gross that was and she wouldn’t let me take my shoes to bed any longer.
Forty-three years later, I am still that obsessed with shoes however I don’t sleep with them anymore (because that is, in fact, really gross).
Enough about my super weird relationship with footwear. Let’s get to some of my favorite summer shoes for inspiration.
In the interest of keeping it short and sweet and to the point, I am stopping here. I have hundreds of pairs shoes. Probably even hundreds of just summer shoes. If I dared to share the whole collection, we would be here all day and you would get sick of my feet and I would be completely embarrassed by my level of overindulgence in the shoe department.
What is your favorite summer footwear?

You have one heck of a shoe collection! I love seeing your footwear almost as much as the outfits you create! I love shoes too, over the years, I have had to drastically reduce the number I can wear comfortably thanks to my aging feet BUT I am still a shoe lover!!!

Thanks so much, Kellyann! I need to clean out my shoes and everything else. I am at the point where I can’t even find the things I love because there’s just too much stuff piled up! I have always viewed shoes as art. The silhouettes and patterns and shapes and styles are all just so beautiful to me. And the weirder the shoe, the more I seem to love it. I wish I could have my whole house filled with shoe art! Haha.

How much fun it is to see the post of The Bad Buy again. They were on my older blog so I don’t have them anymore. Very nice to see it again.

Aw, Nancy, I forgot that you lost all those old posts! Yes, I have all of them listed on that one page if you ever want to look back!

Thanks so much, Kathrine! I keep thinking I need to do a post with all of my cowboy boots. I think I have 9 pairs now with about 1,000 on my wishlist!

You have some great shoes! I only have pretty basic shoes, haha! A knee injury and not really being a shoe person means most of mine are boring neutrals!
Thanks for the link up 🙂 Hope you are having a great week!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Mica! What you lack in shoes you make up for in bags! And I am the opposite…give me all the shoes and I am good with a few basic boring neutral bags. Haha.

Shelbee, you do have a fabulous shoe collection! Just yesterday, I laughed at your comment about “sitting” shoes. I took a few pairs of those out of my closet and to the consignment shop, just yesterday. Thanks for sharing and have a good week!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Di! The idea of sitting shoes still makes me laugh all these years after Nancy coined that phrase! Once I get to my closet clean out, I think I will be donating a good portion of my siting shoes as well. I don’t really need to hold onto them if I never reach for them. But if I could somehow make art out of my unwanted shoes, I would do that just to hold onto them forever!

So many shoes…. so little time haha! I have an obsession too! Wouldn’t it be funny if we had only 3-4 pairs? My hubby said he has more shoes since being married to me! I call that a positive influence! Love the ones you shared and I know you have an amazing collection!
Have a great weekend!

Ha, it’s so true, Jess! I need to start wearing 2-3 different pairs of shoes every day to get them all into rotation! And yet I keep buying more. My husband keeps 2 pairs of sandals, 2 pairs of sneakers, 2 pairs of dress shoes, 2 pairs of everyday boots, 2 pairs of slippers, and 2 pairs of work boots. Anything more than that is excess in his opinion! Can you even imagine such a thing as excessive shoes?!

Ok, I missed your post last Friday because I was traveling, but I’m wearing the same Nomadic State of Mind sandals in my post this week—great minds think alike! Aren’t they so comfortable?!

I love all those!! I hve such a shoe obsession..it’s a problem tht I thin is a good prblem lol! I can’t part unless they are too small- fortunately I have a lot of daughters! Love this series so much Shelbee.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Lucy! I guess as far as addictions go, shoes aren’t such a bad thing! I really can’t part with shoes either unless they don’t fit or they are damaged beyond repair. Shoes are that one thing that generally always fit regardless of weight fluctuations and changes in body shape and size which makes it easier to justify holding onto all of them!

I love shoes. I could get in so much trouble with shoes and purses!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Oh, me, too, Lauren! More shoes than purses for me. But what I collect in shoes makes up for what I don’t collect in purses! Haha.

This is a good topic for you Shelbee! I feel that you always have unique and fabuous shoes for every outfit!

Aw, thanks so much, Laura! Seriously, if I could own all the shoes and just decorate my entire house with them, I would! I’d be the old lady who lived with her shoes!

Wowza!!! That’s a lot of shoes! How do you even begin to keep them straight, or is just a happy little accident (sorry, Bob) when you find them? That’s what happens to me! And, yes, I’ve had a few pairs of sitting shoes. I surely do wish I could wear a pair once in a while, but my foot won’t even bend to put one on! I’ve got to remember to dig through my plethora of footwear to see what to send you! Thanks for the linkup!
https://marshainthemiddle.com/
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Ha, thanks, Marsha! Sometimes I stumble upon an old pair of cool shoes hiding somewhere. But I do have a general shoe inventory committed to memory as well! My biggest problem is finding the pair I want once I realize it’s the pair I want. It is a bummer that your non-bendy foot has limited your footwear options, but you still manage to have a pretty fabulous shoe collection yourself anyway!

Those brown fringey clogs are awesome!! Really like the cowboy boots too – must get myself a pair!

Thanks so much, Alexandra! You definitely need some cowboy boos! I am hankering for a new pair myself. I also wouldn’t mind another pair or two of clogs in different colors!

Ha, thanks, Patrick! I just got Jeff his very first pair of Birkenstocks so he can be a real hippie now! Then I had to go get myself a pair, too. I will have to share those soon!
