Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Sheer
Spring weather has been teasing me lately with a few gorgeous days sprinkled in between all the cold, dreary rain. It seems like the perfect season for showcasing Sheer things. You may be wondering why the cold rainy spring weather is the perfect time for sheer things. Well, I guess you have to keep on wondering because I don’t have any idea. I merely said that because I didn’t know what else to write. Frankly, it is still too cold for me to wear sheer, but I have always loved the sassiness of sheer garments. The kind that allow you to tastefully show off your pretty underthings. I don’t understand why they make such pretty underthings if we are meant to show them. Anyway, I am rambling on about see-through garments when I really just want to see what kind of sheer sassiness you want to share with us.
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?
The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.
Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month.
So won’t you please join us for May by sending some photos and descriptions of your favorite (or least favorite) Sheer things to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com by May 10, 2023. You are welcome to submit more than one photo if you would like features on both of our blogs.
I have long been fascinated with sheer garments. When I was in high school, I remember asking my mom if she could make me a long pin striped blazer with sheer sleeves and French cuffs. While she was a skilled seamstress, I think her abilities were limited to more basic garment construction and my request was a bit too advanced her. And since my idea was kind of off the wall for the late 1980s, I searched but could never find such a garment available in retail stores. Actually, I just did a quick Google search and I still can’t find such a garment available. I really need to relearn how to sew so I can bring my ideas to life without someone else’s efforts required. But I suspect sheer fabrics are a giant pain in the arse to sew! Anyway, here are some of the sheer things that I do own and have enjoyed wearing.
Examples of sheer, or transparent, fabrics include lace, gauze, chiffon, georgette, muslin, organdy, organza, mesh, fishnet, tulle, and even that clear plastic or nylon stuff used for translucent umbrellas and rain coats.

I have a lot of chiffon.
I’ve got a lot of love for lace, too.
And crazy tights with see-through effects.

Clear Plastic
That’s a lot of stuff to see through and my scrolling finger is cramping so I am going to leave you with sheer rainbows and clear umbrellas!
You are invited to join us in May to share your favorite (or least favorite) Sheer things. If you can see through it, go on and share it with us! You are welcome to send two photos if you’d like to be featured on both blogs. Remember to include a brief description about your submissions. Please submit your photos and descriptions by the 10th of May to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can put you in the spotlight.

As you mentioned I always wonders why do the designers of pretty under garments go to the trouble of making sexy things if they are not suppose to be seen. If I really like how my undies look I sometimes feel the urge to show them off to complete strangers. I have at least 50 pairs of leggings and leggings are really not pants but more like thick pantyhose. So if you don’t wear a long top with them they are sheer to the point that what you are wearing underneath can be visable to anyone. I wear leggings everyday so I have to decide which leggings do I put on that day as they come in different shades of sheer to more opaque. Some days with out realizing I put on a pair that are sheer and I just deal with it. It’s fun to see others that are not shy to got out with wearing sheer and lacy garments. I have always really enjoyed when you post in something sheer as I know you are a strong confident individual.

Jamie, thanks so much! I have always been a big fan of sheer things. But I do try to keep my sheer on the classier side of things. A bit too much can be just that…a bit too much! I am glad that you also have the confidence to wear the things that make you feel comfortable and confident!
