Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Periwinkle and Purple & Link Up On the Edge #285
The Pantone color of the year for 2022 is Very Peri…a shade of purple “whose courageous presence encourages personal inventiveness and creativity.” The color encompasses the qualities of blues while also possessing a violet-red undertone that displays “a spritely joyous attitude and dynamic presence.” Very Peri is a gorgeous color to transition from the cold winter months into the warmer spring days that lie ahead making it the perfect theme for March’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. But we don’t want to limit you to just one specific shade of purple, so any purple will do! We invite you to share your favorite Periwinkle and Purple pieces.
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?
It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description explaining if the item was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome. We will give you the theme for the next month in each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month. So please join us for March by sending some photos and descriptions of your favorite (or least favorite) Periwinkle and Purple pieces to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com by March 10, 2022. You are welcome to submit more than one photo if you would like features on both of our blogs.
I have a troubled relationship with shades of purple. Sometimes I adore the color and other times it simply does not appeal to me. I am not certain if I own anything that is actual periwinkle, but purples I do have. Let’s see what I can dig up in the archives.
Purple Plaid Skirt and Purple Tie Dye Tee
Purple Coat
Purple Tie Dye Pants
Pastel Purple and Pink Tie Dye Shirt
Purple Kimono

Purple Plaid Skirt

It seems most of my purples appear in prints more than standing alone. But I found much more purple inspiration than I thought I would. How do you wear the color purple? What are your favorite shades?

Purple is such a great color on you and I love all of our inspiring outfits! I like to wear purple, but is it is not always easy to find in the stores, unless it happens to be trending. Like now! Thanks so much for including me in your favorites feature. Hope you enjoy your weekend!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Di! After pulling all of these photos together for this post I realized how much I do like purple! I may have to add some more purple things to my closet while very peri is trending. Have a fabulous weekend, my friend!

Purple is one of my very favorite colors. It is the color of epilepsy awareness and my oldest child has a seizure disorder. Plus I always get compliments when I wear it. It must agree with me.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Aw, Lauren, I love that! It is such a beautiful, rich color that can inspire in one glance!

After trying to find Periwinkle for our ageless style a few months back (and really finding a sweater that was more blue than purple) I have made it my mission to add purple into my wardrobe in all it’s hues… since I have literally nothing in purple. At least not in my long sleeve clothes. I’m pretty sure I have at least one summer tee in purple or lilac but that’s it! I don’t know why; I like purple but I think I just automatically buy clothing in blue, green, and pink and skip over those other tones.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Joanne, I am relating to your feelings on purple very much. After putting together this blog post, I realized how much I do like the color purple in a variety of shades but I also automatically reach for blues, greens, reds, pinks, and burgundies much more than I reach for purples, oranges, or yellows. Now that periwinkle is trending perhaps we can both up our purple game! I might check out the thrift stores for some purple pieces, too.

Purple makes me look dead, but it’s much better with your coloring—it’s great on you!

Oh no, Cheryl! That’s what yellows and tans do to me! Maybe you need some purple pants that you can pair with a more flattering color on top! I hope you are having an amazing weekend, my friend.

Purple is my absolute favorite color! My bedroom was purple, but it’s grey now. My closet is still purple however! My hair is even lilac! Just gotta love purple! And, you look fabulous in it, Shelbee!
Thanks so much for the link up!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Aw, thanks so much, Marsha! Purple is such a wonderfully happy and regal color, isn’t it? While it is not my favorite (because green will always be my favorite color), I do love all the jewel tones kind of equally! Hopefully, you will send us some purple pictures for this month’s challenge!

Your True Self
Hi, Shelbee – Wow, do you ever have the outfit shots and so full of purple options! You are so right about periwinkle being able to be reinterpreted as shades of purple. When I looked at Pinterest photos for periwinkle outfits, there was every shade of purple along with periwinkle blue. So doubtless, there will be more purple clothing for sale this year than usual. Thanks for the photo collage – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Angie, thank you so much! I really enjoy creating these outfit round up posts to see what I have that fits each theme. I think any of shade of purple is probably difficult to classify in specific colors…there are so many like periwinkle, lilac, lavender, magenta, plum, and plain old purple. Actually, I just found this interesting article…Shades of Purple – A Comprehensive Look at the Different Types of Purple that I am going to go read now! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend, my friend!

Mica - Away From The Blue
You have some lovely purple pieces! I really hope we will see more purple around now it’s the colour of the year, it’s a colour I enjoy wearing but I have so little of it in my wardrobe! I have a periwinkle bag but it’s definitley more a blue with a hint of purple, so I’ve submitted another purple item to Nancy for this prompt! 🙂
Thanks for the link up!
Hope that you are having a good weekend 🙂
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Mica! Purple is really growing on me even more after writing this post! And now that I am thinking about it, I have a really cozy periwinkle sweater that I have not worn in a few years. I might need to get that back in rotation with it being the color of the year. I am so happy that you will be joining us this month! You should send me a photo of your periwinkle bag, too!

I took photos of my periwinkle but I haven’t used them on a blog post yet. Two birthdays in a row took precedence. I would share one here with you but that’s not possible. Maybe next week. Even if it’s just for you. Thanks for leaving comments and I’m glad you’re praying for the Ukraine too!

Aw, thanks so much, Tina! We are entering birthday season now so I totally understand that! Have a great week, my friend.
