Inspired by Granola and Grace & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #65
Do you all know my friend Chrissy yet? She writes the blog Granola and Grace and she is the most down-to-earth, kind, supportive, caring, and absolutely amazing person…like ever in the whole land of blogging. Although I haven’t had the opportunity to meet Chrissy in real life yet (I will one of these days, for sure, because I will make sure that we make it happen at some point), Chrissy and I do chat via email and through our blogs and other social media frequently, helping each other in any way we can. I am honored to include her in my list of blogging besties!
*This is not a sponsored post.
*Sidenote: That cup of coffee I am holding might be the worst cup of coffee I have ever tasted in my life. When Aimee kicked it over, I was a bit upset because it was keeping me warm. But man, that was a blessing in disguise. There aren’t too many things that can ruin a girl’s day more than a bad cup of coffee.
Not only is Chrissy just one of those truly good souls on earth, she has fantastic style that speaks to me with every outfit she shares. But for some reason, it is camouflage that always makes me think of her. And super distressed jeans. And deep olive green booties! Chrissy has these olive green skinny jeans…they are her favorite…and she wears them often on her blog, layered over tights in the winter and super sassy showing off her fabulous legs in the warmer weather. When I spotted these distressed jeans with fishnet inlay, they really did kind of scream to me, “Chrissy would love these and so should you!” Well, of course, I loved them. And when I randomly paired them with my new camo sweatshirt, I felt like I was completely tuning into Chrissy’s style channel. My olive green sock booties were a no brainer at that point.
So my outfit today was inspired by all of these outfits that Chrissy has worn. You can view them each on her blog at the links below.

2. Distressed Jeans, Leather Jacket, and Plaid Scarf: Put a Little Grunge In Your Heart

4. Camo Sweatshirt and Skinny Jeans: 100th Thursday Moda, Target Giveaway & Cupcake Wrap-up

*Sweatshirt: Torrid Green Camo Print Brushed Knit Sweatshirt
Aimee and I shot these photos on Saturday when we headed out to Tibbetts Point Lighthouse in Cape Vincent, New York. It was a little cool on Saturday but the sun was shining and it was so nice to just be outside breathing in the fresh crisp air. I actually had no intention of taking photos. We just sort of ended up out there and it was so beautiful that we couldn’t really resist the opportunity. I knew at the moment that between the outfit and the stunning background that these photos would be used in a post featuring Chrissy.

With the winter hanging on forever, this was the perfect getaway on Saturday afternoon. Now I am just going to overwhelm you with photos. We had so much fun taking pictures. There were hundreds on my camera roll by the time we finished. And we laughed so much throughout the entire afternoon. Much needed laughter. Man, did it feel great!

And while I am at the business of spreading kindness, I have to share this other blog with you. I did a quick Google search today to find some inspiring quotes about water to use in conjunction with this post and I came upon a blog post from 2016 entitled 28 Water Quotes to Inspire Your True Nature. I was so inpsired by the post that I started surfing all around this blog, called Aim Happy, and I just have to say….Wow! If you are looking for every day inspiration, you must go check it out!
The water really does possess such calming properties, doesn’t it? It helps us reconnect with nature and the earth on a new level. Without even realizing how much I had been missing that connection, I found myself so rejuvenated and invigorated just walking along the cape, gazing out into the forever and the unknown, pondering life’s deepest mysteries. The true philosopher in me really began to surface again. How nice it would be if I could visit that place more frequently, but alas, life seems to get in the way all too often.
*Coat: Old Navy (No longer available online).
In the midst of all the beauty and all the laughter, I did manage to get Aimee on the other side of the camera, too. That doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it is such a wonderful experience!
“A lake is the landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth’s eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.” -Henry David Thoreau
“A lake carries you into recesses of feeling otherwise impenetrable.” -William Wordsworth
“Not every lake dreams to be an ocean. Blessed are the ones who are happy with whom they are.” -Mehmet Murat ildan
To get sense of the ridiculous and the fun that happens when Aimee and I go on a photo adventure, I leave you with these silly outtakes.
You can find Granola and Grace on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest.
And now the featured favorites from last week’s link up.
Nistha of FashioNistha shared her post, A Must Have Dress in Every Girl’s Closet. She is talking about every girl needing a floral dress for Spring, but this shade of green is really what caught my eye. It is so brilliant and Nistha looks absolutely stunning!
“The feel of floral gets doubled in spring. After all who does not want to match the surroundings? It’s like nature is reciprocating the love in a similar manner. Everything looks bright, colorful and lively just like the floral dresses.” – Nistha
And Lisa of Beauty 101 by Lisa shared her post, Chico’s Spring LookBook 2018/How Bold Are You? Well, I have to say, Lisa is definitely bold! Not only is she rocking her 49 years in the most amazing way, but you need to hop on over and check out all of her fabulous styles!
“I will be 50 years old this year and I don’t follow any rules or guidelines when it comes to my age. Getting older is a time for us to be ourselves and express who we are with no stereotypes of how we should look. I believe we should dress for our body type and wear what makes us feel confident and beautiful no matter what age we are. I’ve even decided to let my natural gray hair grow out because I don’t feel that I need to hide behind colored hair anymore to feel truly beautiful.” -Lisa
Does being near the water inspire you like it does me?

Beautiful photos, Shelbee! And what a fab location. It is so peaceful near the water, isn’t it?
I’m in love with your outfit. I’ve got loads LOADS of khaki in my wardrobe (and grey!), and I adore the camo print too. In fact I’m about to feature a camo swimsuit (when I’m brave enough to step out in it lol) on the blog. I could totally see how Chrissy has inspired you here and I think you look gorgeous!

Oh my, so much to say on my end! I’m getting ready to ramble, sorry. First – ha! Dying over the bad coffee comment, lol. This is why we MUST read and not just look at the pics on blogs, we might miss the funny stuff. You know I am a HUGE Chrissy fan, I love that girl and her style and can see the two of you having a lot in common. Every word you wrote about her is absolute truth and hey she’s a boy mom too! Those very cool distressed jeans with the fishnet inlay – holy cow – I thought you layered them that way – very cool! Your friend Aimee is just as precious as you and you are blessed to have a good friend take pictures with you. Finally I am so happy to see no snow! Is it all gone now? I hope so!

Kellyann, I love your rambling comments! So much good stuff in them every time! At least I have good coffee right now as I am making my morning blog rounds. And Chrissy is so amazing, isn’t she? I have been wanting to write a post about her for some time, I was just waiting for the perfect outfit to strike me to do her justice! About my jeans…I loved them so much and they were a size too big (maybe even 2 sizes too big), but I bought them anyway! Now I just have to rock the super baggy look. And Aimee…what can I say about Aimee? I am ever so blessed to have her in my life. There is not enough gratitude in the world to properly express it! And I am equally grateful for all of my blogging friends including you and Chrissy! Have the most amazing day, my friend.

I think we all, well at least many of us, feel reconnected when we can get away and spend time in creation. Water is so beautiful and a reminder that we are so small in comparison with all that is out there. Love your outfit! Nuf said! – Amy

You look like your enjoying the freshness of your surroundings in these shots. The wind off the lake , crisp Spring air and the blue water are definitely a type of sensual experience and bring out the contemplative side of me as well. I grew up on the North shore of Lake Superior and the lake was very much like a character in my story!
It’s easy to see why you eould treasure Chrissy’s friendship. She seems very kind, sincere, and genuine. I also like her professed “goofiness” !!!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Jude, what a lovely tribute to your lake! I could seriously sit out by that water and just absorb all of nature’s wonders for hours. I think I need to make it a point to go more often. And yes, Chrissy definitely has a goofy side that is so endearing! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Such a fun, impromptu day out and about. I love the freedom of our “no kids for a couple of hours” outings. Sorry not sorry we missed the turn to the first town we planned on going to because the lighjthouse/water view was so therapeutic. And sorry not sorry I spilled your “not tasty at all no matter how much cream and sugar we added” coffee. I always have so much fun laughing and taking pics with you! Thanks friend for putting me on the other side of the camera too!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thank you, friend, for everything you do for me and with me! We do have a lot of laughs, don’t we?! Maybe one day…if I become a very profitable blogger…I will actually “hire” you to take my photos! Dreams do come true! Love you.

Pretty pictures! I love the water, always have. The pics make me want to dive right in! I love your cute outfit and the stockings at the knee, the perfect touch! I love olive, so the boots with the camo top is the perfect combination. I think out of all my boots, my favorite are combat, so I must get a pair of camo pants at some point! What a pretty area too, love the lighthouse.

Jess, thank you so much for stopping by and commenting. I do love olive so much, too, and all things camo and combat boots, too! Ooh, you reminded me now to pull out my camo pants soon, too. They would be fun to photograph by the water as well, I think…kind of natural all around. I need to go back for some water therapy again soon. I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
