Florals for Spring & Your Own Twist Link Up #7

Kimono: Target

It’s time again for Your Own Twist with Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart. Monica and I decided to host a fun link up once a month (since we are both super crazy busy so why not add more projects to our calendars)! On the third Thursday of every month, we will host the Your Own Twist Link Up with the goal of inspiring some of our fashionista friends out there. The idea behind this collaboration is to take one common piece or theme and style it our own way with our own twist…Monica and I have both taken a lot of fashion inspiration from one another over the past few years even though we have totally different styles. It is always fun to see how we can interpret similar items in unique ways. We will let you know the themes well in advance in the event that you would like to use the theme for your own post and add it to the link party. However, any fashion posts are welcome regardless of whether you used the theme or not.

So here’s a really cool thing that happens when blogger collaborations occur…while it may appear that our theme for this month was long kimonos, it wasn’t. The theme was simply Florals for Spring. You know, like Miranda Priestly says, “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” (The Devil Wears Prada) Monica and I did not discuss what we would be styling, we simply took the theme “Florals for Spring” and did our own thing. Then a few days before the post goes live, I send Monica a few of my photos so she can create the collage (Thanks, girl, for doing all the work on that). That is when we see what the other has styled. I laughed out loud when she sent the collage to me with her wearing a long floral kimono standing in almost the same pose as I am. I guess we just get in tune with each other when our energies connect!

While we both styled long floral kimonos, it is evident that we live in very different climates! I bought this kimono at Target at the end of last Summer and it still had the tags on it when I reached for it to style it for this post. I knew it was what I wanted to wear for the Spring Florals theme, but y’all, it is still really cold here. Add in the insane amounts of wind that come with living near a Great Lake and it feels even colder. So I had to layer a turtleneck and jeans under my Spring kimono while Monica is basking in the sun near the water with bare legs!

But I do have to say that it appears as if warm weather life in Florida is serving Monica well. She looks more amazing than ever all sun kissed and relaxed away from the hustle and bustle of the cold Northeast.

I want to return for a moment to this idea of connected energies. This past weekend I attended an amazing class/seminar on The Law of Attraction. Then just last night, I finally watched The Secret. It has been on my radar for years to watch it and I just never got around to it. I am not going to get into too much detail from a quantum physics standpoint here (I want to save that for another post), but I do want to address this phenomenon of how Monica and I came up with these similar ideas based on a single theme. It is very clear that the energy field that connects all things in the universe was working abundantly as we chose our outfits for this post. Granted, it doesn’t always happen this way. And when it does, some may simply call it coincidence. But isn’t that exactly what coincidence is…the universe making strange connections that have no evident cause whatsoever?

Collective consciousness at its best. The way I interpret this concept (and I may be incorrect) is that there is an unlimited source of ideas that exists within the universe from which all ideas come. We all have access to this source, but we are not always all tapped into it. Granted, deriving a kimono from a theme of florals is nothing completely groundbreaking, yet somehow, Monica and I both tapped into this idea of a kimono when presented with a them of Florals for Spring. This is super elementary and many of you may not find it all that fascinating. But I do. Because it is a simple illustration of the tremendous power of the connective energy that always exists within the universe.

Let’s take it up a level. Still quite basic though. Have you ever thought about someone and then suddenly their name comes up, they call or message you, or you run into them? It seems to be that you put the energy out there with your thoughts of this person that draws them to you in some way. And some people are way more in tune to receiving the energy and respond more frequently. For example, there are two people in my life right now who consistently pop up when I think about them. My sister is one. I cannot even tell you how many times I will have the thought, “Oh, I haven’t talked to my sister in weeks, I should probably give her a call.” And generally within minutes of this thought, my phone will ring and my sister will be on the other end of it. I usually answer with a greeting like this, “Hi, creepy mind reader, I was literally just about to call you.” But is she really a creepy mind reader? Doubtful. It was the universe receiving my thoughts as energy, delivering them to her, and her responding to the energy she received. Do you all think I’m crazy yet?

My husband captured a moment of me making a goofy face here! It made me laugh, so I had to share it!

Another example is a friend of mine, Hilary. I met her in the consignment shop. She comes in frequently, but often weeks pass between visits. Then something will come into the shop or something will trigger me to think, “Hmmm. I haven’t seen Hilary in here in a while.” Every single time I have had this thought, Hilary walks through the door before the close of business that day. And when I say every single time, I mean it has never not happened when I have had the passing thought of Hilary. And it has happened dozens of times. It has become a joke with us. Last week it happened and as soon as she opened the door, she said, “Were you thinking about me today?” I laughed and replied, “Of course I was. That’s why you are here!”

But why does this happen with only certain people and not everyone you have thoughts about? All I can conclude is that certain people are just more tuned into your energy frequency in such a way that it causes the universe to make these coincidences happen. And believe me, I know that these concepts can sound a little bit crazy to some. But that’s okay, I am used to being viewed as somewhat crazy! Even Hilary thinks I’m crazy. Yet she continues to receive my energy and respond to it. Every single time.

My sister doesn’t think it’s all that crazy until I start throwing terms around like quantum physics and collective consciousness and the energy of the universe. While she may not use the same terminology as I do, she still adheres to the concepts in the way she lives her life. And she and I also have a lifetime of connectivity by virtue of being sisters that makes the energy flow with more ease, I think. In any event, I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Have you had experiences like these? And how do you interpret them when they occur? Are you as fascinated by this phenomenon as I am or do you just kind of take it in stride without really thinking about it at all?

However you interpret the way in which the universe connects us all, do connect with us now in the link up below! Share your Spring Florals or any fashion posts that you’d like. Keep shining and inspiring each other, my friends!
