Down on Copperline & Link Up On the Edge #317
I am not sure if the title of this post caught your attention or not, but I really hope it didn’t pique your interest very much. I chose it randomly as I was loading these images into WordPress and James Taylor’s song Copperline was running through my head like an annoying earworm. A very annoying earworm, indeed, because despite how much I love James Taylor’s music, Copperline is probably one of my least favorite songs of his. But it does apparently have a very catchy tune because the damn thing is still earworming me a day later.
Even though this is not a favorite JT song of mine, the lyrics have always reminded me of my hometown of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which was known as Steeltown in the heyday of Bethlehem Steel. Coincidentally, I wore this outfit when we visited Bethlehem in August to deliver a very special graduation gift to an old friend. So the song title seemed like a suitable title for this post.
But wait.
There’s even more relevance to the title in my accessories. I am wearing one of my favorite earrings and necklace set that is made from copper washers by my dear friend Michelle of My Bijou Life. Copperline. Copper washers. Copper jewelry. It’s all starting to make (non)sense now, isn’t it?
Michelle sent me this set for my birthday back in May and I wear it frequently so I really wanted to share a post featuring it. I layered the necklace with two other favorites, my horn necklace which I bought in a boutique in Asheville when I visited Michelle in February and a wire wrapped sea glass necklace that I purchased at my local farm market this summer.
I wore this easy outfit to have brunch with my sister and her husband before driving back to New York from Pennsylvania. It is the same outfit I wore for Ralph’s Lion King show with the Clayton Youth Theater this summer so I knew it was perfectly comfortable for spending hours in the car. The pants are really old (they are the same as the tan ones I wore for our Magnificent 8 post on linen). They are loose fitting in a comfortable linen blend with an elastic waistband making them so great for travel. I wore my favorite Torrid Super Soft tunic (I have this top in 7 or 8 different colors/prints) which is also wonderful for travel and basically anything else in life.
I acquired this floral kimono 5 years ago from a collaboration with Banggood. When I last shared it here, I styled it with gingham pants. I do like the print mixing in that outfit, but I definitely prefer the kimono over this all black outfit better. It really allows for the floral print to show a little more dramatically. And, of course, I completed this warm weather look with my reliable rope sandals. With a quick switch of footwear and sleeve length, this outfit can make an easy transition straight into fall.
That is all I have for you today and this week. I had sick kids home again for half of this week which has set me back on my room painting goals. So this weekend will be spent with a paint brush in my hand! If you have any good Audible recommendations, I would love for you to share them in the comments. I like to listen to audiobooks while I am painting and so far I haven’t found a new title that has captured my interest.
I hope y’all have a magnificent weekend!

I’m sorry your kids were sick – what a bummer. Hope they are on the mend and you get your painting done. I listen to podcasts when I’m wlaking or doing housework. I love crime shows so that’s my chosen genre and they’re free which is right up my alley!
My nephew’s girlfriend is from Bethlehem, PA! Isn’t that funny! I think it’s cool the way the whole copper theme came together and Michelle is a talented artisan.
Your outfit is so chic and looks comfortable too.
Have a great weekend – I have a ton of housework to do and I am looking forward to it because my anxiety is through the roof right now just looking at it. I always feel better when it’s done!

Thanks so much, Kellyann! The kids are feeling better today which is great because we have a beautiful weekend ahead so I can kick them outside with their friends while I get this painting done! Michelle is super talented. I have a whole collection of her handmade jewelry that I wear frequently. I compleely forgot about podcasts for while I’m painting! There are a few I used to follow, so maybe I will revisit those while I paint. Thanks for the suggestion! I hope you have a productive housework weekend so you can bring that anxiety down!

I love duster-length kimonos, and yours is gorgeous! So fun that all of the outfit details revolve around the James Taylor song. Hope your kids are feeling better! Good luck with painting this weekend!

Jill, thanks so much! Duster length kimonos and cardigans are my favorite. I love the drama of the super long flowy things! My kids seem to be feeling better so I might send them off to hang with their friends this weekend so I can paint without interruption!

You are the queen of kimonos…you must have more kimonos than anyone I know. They are so beautiful. Love this boho look.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Ha. Thanks, Amy! I definitely have more kimonos than anyone I know! It’s been a lifelong obsession. I wish I had some of the very first kimono-like dusters that I purchased back in my 20s before they were so trendy. Oh, I had some beautiful ones that got lost along the way.

I love your outfit and the pretty copper jewelry! I’ve always been attracted to copper and have many copper decorative pieces in my home. Thanks for hosting!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thank you so much, Pat! I have always had a special attraction to copper as well. It is such a pretty color and it is great for clearing out negative energy and balancing the chakras…which is right up my mystical alley! I hope you have a lovely weekend.

So sorry to hear about the sick kiddos! But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this outift so much. It’s that perfect blend of comy and stylish.

Such a beautiful kimono! I love the way you’ve styled it to set off. And I’m thrilled that you like the copper necklace. It’s hard to know whether a piece of jewelry is cool or just too weird sometimes. It looks great with your other pretty pieces. I’m sorry you’ve had sick kidlets. I hope they are well on the mend.

Thanks so much, Michelle! I don’t think this copper washer jewelry set is weird at all! It’s totally cool! And I love how lightweight it is, too. The copper color works with so many different color palettes as well. I am very happy to own this beautiful set. Thank you so much for giving it to me! I think we are all back to almost perfect health. Now we just need to maintain it!

OK, I had to zip over to YouTube to find that song…I was pretty sure I knew which one it was. I love James Taylor…his Sweet Baby James album was the very first album I ever bought! You are stunning in black, Shelbee! Absolutely stunning! And, the accessories work perfectly together. Isn’t it fun to see what you can put together and how they work? I do hope your kiddos are feeling better soon (and they don’t spread it to you)! Thanks for the link party!

Thanks so much, Marsha! James Taylor has been a lifelong favorite of mine. I can’t remember a time when his music wasn’t on my playlist…it was on it before we even had playlists! Funny that you mentioned Sweet Baby James because I am pretty settled on that exact song for my next Songful Style pick! I think we are all feeling better now. At least, I hope we are! Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

Thanks so much, Carol! I don’t usually wear the exact same outfit more than one time. I always change out an accessory or something. But I like this outfit so much that I have worn the exact thing a few times this summer and probably will again in the spring!
