Tomorrow marks the 250th anniversary of Independence Day in the United States of America. If you are as old as me then you were around for the 200th anniversary. I was 2 years old for our bicentennial celebration and now I’m 52 as we celebrate our semiquincentennial anniversary. Back in 1976, my mother made bicentennial costumes for me and my older sisters and then she had professional portraits taken of us wearing them. I can’t believe how quickly we have arrived at July! In all my mental preparation for America’s 250th anniversary celebration on Saturday, I totally forgot about my very close neighbor’s Independence Day celebration that happened yesterday. Living within 30 miles of the Canadian border, we have lots of Canadian cultural things nearby. I do not live in a border city, but the people who do have very close international relationships with each other. A land border is just a land border, after all. Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Sandals
I cannot believe the calendar has flipped to July already. Time sure does fly…whether you’re having fun or not! At least I can say that I’m having fun. Won’t you join us for another edition of Good Buys and Good-Byes. Since we are now in the heart and heat of summertime, we are talking about the quintessential summer footwear, Sandals!
