The Thrifty Six are Vested
This is the final Thrifty Six challenge for 2025 and Sally chose our theme…Vested. Because we are an international group, it is important to point out that the term vested doesn’t translate as easily as one might assume. I personally interpreted the theme as “style a vest” but even the word vest, as a garment, doesn’t translate as easily as one would think. In the Untied States, we use the term vest to mean a sleeveless garment, generally worn over a shirt, also called a waistcoat. I know that I have mentioned previously how much I enjoy splitting wood for my fireplace. Ever since getting our fireplace redone and up to code, the wood chores have become my favorite out of all of my household obligations. From stacking to splitting to fireplace prep and clean up, I truly enjoy every bit of it. I think it makes me feel a little closer to nature. Tonight is Jeff’s annual company holiday party. He began working for a local HVAC company upon retirement from the Army nearly five years ago and he has been happier than I have ever known him to be. The holidays are here, bringing with them many opportunities for dressing up! So for December’s edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, we are featuring Wrap Dresses, which is a generic term referencing any dress that forms a front closure by wrapping one side across the other and securing it either in the back or on the side, usually forming a vee neckline.
