Songful Style Link Party #37: “Need You Now” by Lady A
It was Suzy’s turn to choose this month’s songful inspiration. She chose “Need You Now” by American country music group Lady A (formerly known as Lady Antebellum) because it has been one of her favorite songs for a very long time. It is also a favorite of mine with a really special story behind it. The Lyrics "Hey, sorry I missed your call, just leave a message after the beep""Hey, yeah, it's me, just been thinking about everything tonightAnd I don't know, I just miss you so muchGive me a call back if you can?"Picture perfect memoriesScattered all around the floorReachin' for the phone 'cause I can't fight it anymoreAnd…

Retreating into Springtime Creativity & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #753
The winter seemed so, so long this year which was exacerbated by the huge snow dumps as well as a seriously deep dive into my own psyche. That is what the hibernation months are for, aren’t they? To rest and rejuvenate while also making plans for the awakening season. For the past six years, I have chosen a motivational word that would help shape and inspire how I want my life to be over the subsequent 12 month period. I have always shared those posts in early January but this year I completely forgot. My previous focus words (or mantras) of the year have been think smaller to go bigger…

The Thrifty Six in “Double Trouble” Denim
Denim is not my favorite fabric. I find it harsh against my skin and rather confining and uncomfortable. While I do have a large pile of jeans that I don’t wear, only a few pairs are preloved and they all looked terrible on me. Other than that, I don’t have much thrifted or preloved denim. It is just not something I seek out in thrift stores or retail stores. So when Nancy proposed “double trouble” denim as our April thrifty theme, I was wholly unsure what I was going to do. I was in double trouble. So the first thing I did was visit my local thrift store in search…

Four Weeks in Tieks: The Versatility of Polka Dot Shoes & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #752
When I received my whimsical Echo Park ballet flats from Tieks four weeks ago, I wanted to see just how versatile polka dot footwear could be. I thought it would be a fun personal challenge to create at least four different outfit combinations featuring these spotted cuties on my feet. My first styling and official review of these shoes was a pairing of wide legged jeans under my dress of many colors. The colorful chaos of that first outfit led me to a lively hodgepodge consisting of a vibrant multi-patterned skirt from Daenel, a green tee shirt, and a floral robe. Clearly, these dotty shoes are working well with a…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Rainy Days
Spring is starting to spring in the North Country but sadly we still have snow in the forecast this week. As much as I don’t like the rain that leaves us damp and muddy until May or June, I do welcome the warming temperatures that turn the snow into rain. So let’s have a look at what you all wear for those rainy days of spring. The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short…

Third Take on Tieks: Double Dotting & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #751
I wanted to share this third styling of my new vegan Tieks last Friday but Mercury was in retrograde and had other plans for me. Mercury’s effects have seemed to calm down now that it has exited its retrograde period and computer things seem to be going much more smoothly as a result. I used to fight against the impacts of Mercury in retrograde but I have learned that fight is fruitless and it is better to just put the computer down and wait for things to right themselves. Although the retrograde period ended earlier this week, it did not do anything for our weather. Not that I expected it…
