Songful Style | “Hi-Heel Sneakers” by Tommy Tucker & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #268
We have shared our walkin’ boots as well as our leather and lace in this songfully sartorial series with my favorite fashionistas. Now it’s time to have a listen to the new tune and start styling something fabulous. Michelle has chosen “Hi-Heel Sneakers” by Tommy Tucker because she remembers with sweet nostalgia how her father played this song when she was a child. I do love how powerful song can be in triggering some of the best memories. About Songful Style Songful Style is a new ageless style challenge series hosted by Suzy of The Grey Brunette, Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, Michelle of My Bijou Life, Marsha of Marsha in the Middle,…

But before I get into all that, here’s a bit about this new style challenge collaboration with some of my favorite humans in all of blogland. Confetti Sweater & Link Up On the Edge #288
Are you all sick of my snow yet? I am. It is almost April, after all. I know that April showers bring May flowers for most of the northern hemisphere. But in my part of the world, it is more accurate to say that March snows followed by April showers simply brings mud season. No clever rhyming there. What rhymes with mud anyway? Nothing all that savory, to be honest. Also being honest, I shot these photos back at the end of January when we had much more snow on the ground. Right now, there are only few gray patches of filthy snow scattered at street corners and in a…

SIA Gallery of Style | Les Demoiselles d’Avignon by Pablo Picasso
You all know how much I love this Style Imitating Art series. Now that I have joined as a co-host, I have to admit that my favorite part is putting together the gallery post. I really appreciate everyone’s unique sense of creativity in interpreting the art and turning it into wearable style and the whole thing just makes my heart happy. And that’s what this is all about…making our hearts happy and allowing that contagion to spread all around us wherever we go. By the way, did you know that happiness is like 100 times more contagious than Covid? (I haven’t checked that statistic because I just made it up,…

Happy Birthday, Pepsi Man! & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #267
Yesterday was Ralph’s birthday so for the next 5 1/2 weeks I am the mother of 9 and 10 year old boys. We celebrated on Saturday with a small party that did not go at as planned but resulted in Ralph getting three separate birthday parties. All Ralph wanted to do for his party was play virtual reality with his friends and family so we booked a party at Zero Latency Virtual Reality in our local mall. You can have 8 players per game and it is kind of pricey ranging from $30-50 for 30 minutes of playtime per person). Our 8 players were to be 4 adults and 4…

The Thrifty Six in Thrifted Faves
Technology was playing some silly games these past few weeks which resulted in missed communications all around me. It was kind of weird actually. When those sorts of things happen in abundance in a short period of time it usually means Mercury is in retrograde. But the last retrograde period ended on February 3 and Mercury doesn’t go retrograde again until May 10…just in time to really goof with summer planning. In any event, established email contacts were going missing all over the place. I ended up finding a bunch in my spam folder which I still cannot understand. So if you have sent me an email and I never…

How to Find and Save More Space
Do you ever feel like you just don’t have enough space? Space to breathe, space to move, space to be free from all the things that clutter your days. We all crave more space and when we found ourselves locked in our homes in the early days of the pandemic, some of us may have craved even more space. While social distancing is about maintaining space between yourself and other people, we also have a need for distance from all of the objects around us. And we can only have that kind of space by decluttering and removing the unnecessary objects to create more space. One strategic approach to gaining…

Highlights from My North Carolina Road Trip & Link Up On the Edge #287
Finally, I am getting around to sharing some photos from my recent road trip to North Carolina. I arrived home on March 1 and slept for about a week which set me even further behind on everything. Then I spent a week catching up only to find myself behind again. I guess that is just the way life goes. Anyway, let’s get to it. I arrived at my friend Becca’s house in Tuckasegee, North Carolina, on Wednesday evening after dropping my kids off in Pennsylvania. I shared that part of my trip a few weeks ago. Knowing that I would be pooped from 12 hours of driving, Becca picked up…
