10 on the 10th: February 2024-Valentine’s Would You Rathers
With Valentine’s Day just four days away, Marsha has chosen 10 Would You Rather questions about this heart-filled holiday for her monthly 10 on the 10th series.
This question and answer series is open to anyone who wants to join and you can then share your answers in Marsha’s link party, too. It is such a fun way to share more information about ourselves and to learn interesting new things about others. The questions posed offer a great way to start new conversations, make meaningful connections with new people, and have a good hearty chuckle every now and then.
So without further delay, let’s get right to these Valentine’s inspired Would You Rathers!
1. Would you rather have fruit dipped in chip dip or potato chips dipped in chocolate?
I do like fruit. And chip dip. And potato chips. And chocolate. And I am a pothead. So to me, all combinations of these things sound pretty freaking delicious! But if I were to sit down on my couch with a major case of munchies and start dipping, I would rather dip my fruit in chip dip but only because it seems a little less messy than dipping chips in melty chocolate.
2. Would you rather publicly sing a love song or recite an original poem to your significant other?
I would rather recite a thousand original poems to my significant other than ever sing publicly to anyone! My magic is in my written words so the writing part is no big deal. And I am a skilled reader. But singing…I will reserve that for the shower, the car, and the kitchen!
3. Would you rather share the best meal of your life with Willie Nelson or Dolly Parton?
This is a really difficult choice because I absolutely adore both of these amazing human beings! But for today, I will choose Dolly because I am currently listening to her book, Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones, on Audible. How fun would it be to discuss her book with her over a meal?
4. Would you rather receive a dozen perfect black roses or one rose in the color you love most?
I am not very discriminatory when it comes to flowers. I really do love them all…black, white, red, purple, or even tie dye! But I think I would rather receive one single rose in my favorite color than a dozen black roses. For Valentine’s Day, that is. If it were Halloween, I would love a dozen perfect black roses!
5. Would you rather spend the entire month of February dressed only in pink with purple hearts or red with orange hearts?
Sheesh, Marsha, another difficult question as I love all the colors and all the color combinations! Currently, I have been really drawn to combinations of red, orange, and yellow so I think I would rather wear red with orange hearts all month long. This year. Next February, however, I might prefer pink with purple hearts. But as of this moment, I only have black with pink hearts.
6.. Would you rather be treated to a day driving a Maserati around the Indy 500 race track or go for a carriage ride in the Scottish Highlands?
A carriage ride in the Scottish Highlands, please! I don’t like fast cars or driving in circles around a race track. That would make me nervous and probably a little car sick. But first, I need to find a way to get to Scotland that doesn’t include flying. I think I never want to go on an airplane again. People frighten me too much and I don’t want to be trapped in a big metal container in the sky when someone decides to be an asshole. Actually, that happened the last time I traveled by plane nearly 8 years ago and it has turned me off completely to air travel.
7. Would you rather have your Valentine’s pizza delivered by Dwayne Johnson (the Rock) or Jason Statham?
Well, since I knew Dwayne in high school (he was a kind hearted kid who defended me against some bullies), I would rather he delivered my Valentine’s pizza just so I could say hello and let him know how much his gesture in high school meant to me. We had a mutual respect for one another as student-athletes who were both at the very top of our games and there was a special relationship that grew from that respect. I will never forget it and will always admire that man.
8. Would you rather sleep on red satin sheets or flannel sheets with teddy bears on them?
I don’t really like satin sheets at all so give me all the flannel with or without teddy bears!
9. Would you rather receive a box of chocolates with your least favorite fillings or a bouquet of flowers to which you are allergic?
Allergic reactions are not very fun and I will eat most any chocolate even if I am not hugely thrilled with the choice of fillings. So I would rather a box of chocolates with my least favorite fillings than allergy flowers!
10. Would you rather go on a surprise date or have planned it yourself?
I am very much a go-with-the-flow kind of person and I have to plan and keep track of four people’s schedules so when it comes to date night, can someone else please do all the planning? While I don’t like surprises all that much, I would rather a surprise date that requires me to just show up and look pretty!

I would love to share a meal with Dolly Parton! She is such a fascinating person! I need to check that book out!

The book is so cute! She talks about her lifelong passion for clothing and dressing up. I could relate to a lot of it. And her energy is just so joyful. The book is an interview with her niece and it is really fun to hear them interacting with each other.

I had the same filled chocolates/allery answer! I have yet to meet a chocolate I won’t eat… just some I like much better than others. How neat that you went to school with Dwayne. He always seems like a nice guy but it can be hard to tell with celebrities so it’s nice to hear that story from high school. I am LOVING that black/ pink hearted outfit.

Thanks, Joanne! I honestly can’t think of a chocolate that I wouldn’t eat either! Dwayne has often spoken publicly about being a misguided teen but the guy I knew always had his heart in the right place. We weren’t close friends by any means, but I do remember his kindness and that all the girls had giant crushes on him! LOL

I loved all your answers, but I really loved the high school Dwayne and Micki photos! I would love to do an ocean cruise to the UK. Want to join me? But, I’ve never cruised so I have no idea if I’d get seasick. And, then the idea of not seeing land for days kinda makes me queasy! You always look beautiful, Shelbee, so any date would have you showing up and looking pretty!
I’m so glad you played along!

Awww, Marsha, thanks so much. You are so sweet, my friend. I was laughing so hard when I added those high school photos! I went on a cruise to Bermuda many, many years ago. I was not a fan. Of the cruise. Bermuda was beautiful. I always enjoy playing along with your 10 questions!

A carriage ride would be incredible. Scotland is! And for me no surprise dates, I want to be in control. Haha, yeah, not that spontaneous…..

I wish there were a magic carriage that could transport me to Scotland so I wouldn’t need to take a plane to get there! Happy weekend, my friend!
