What Would Nancy Wear? & Link Up On the Edge #268
Back in the beginning of September, I had written a guest style post for my dear friend Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style while she was on holiday. I wanted to pay homage to my sweet friend and so during my outfit creation process I kept asking myself the question, “What Would Nancy Wear?” and that quickly became the post title for her blog.
In that post, I shared the story of how Nancy and I first became acquainted in the world of blogging, how we began our multiple collaboration projects, and how we have developed a very strong and meaningful friendship despite the 3,600 mile (5,800 km) distance between us. (I live in northern New York State and Nancy lives in the Netherlands. In fact, my kids once knew her only as “Nancy from the Netherlands.” Now they just call her Nancy!)
If you don’t already know Nancy, I encourage to hop on over and say hello. She is such a strong, empowering, and inspiring woman with one of the best senses of humor I have ever encountered in life. And I always say, “Make me laugh and you’ll keep me forever!” Since Nancy never ever fails to give me a great big hearty belly laugh at the most perfect times, I am pretty sure that our shared laughter has cemented a forever friendship status into place!
And because I have gotten to know this wonderful woman so well over the past six years, I know that she won’t mind my hijacking this style post back to use here because I am out of creative ideas and things to share with you all!
Nancy is a big fan of wrap dresses, maxi and midi skirts, and coordinated sets, a few of the very things that don’t flatter me or my personality, but I really wanted to create an outfit that Nancy would actually wear. So I had to step outside of my fashion comfort zone and I went digging through my bins of clothing that I no longer wear. I have had this dandelion coordinating set for a few years and have never paired them together for some reason. Probably because it’s just not my normal style. But it is Nancy’s and so I went for it!
I kept a bit of my own edge by layering on my thrifted Ralph Lauren engineer striped denim jacket and my navy blue ankle boots. I have always liked the pairing of ankle boots with long skirts as does Nancy because she wears that combination often and she always looks fabulous!
My jewelry included a dandelion seed necklace, blue and white gingham earrings, and my mother’s daisy brooch. This brooch is one of my most cherished pieces. My mother wore it on her wedding day and I wore it on mine. I have recently been making a point of wearing my sentimental jewelry more often. These are the things that ignite real joy in my soul. And shouldn’t we all do the things and wear the things that make our souls happy?
How did I do on capturing Nancy’s Fashion Style?!

Oh my word!! What a honor!! And what a beautiful words!!! Thank you so much my sweet friend. Yes, I would definitely wear this outfit, its me!
It is amazing that you can feel so much for a friend that you never have met irl and probably never will. I sometimes think that we would have such amazing times when we would love meat each other. We could learn so much from each other and I know that we would help each other grow in our lives as a person. But our Zoom talks are what we have and that is so special!! Looking forward to talk to you next week love!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thank you so much for these sweet words, my friend! I am hanging onto a glimmer of hope that we will meet in real life one day! If I think that we never might, it makes me sad! But even if we don’t, I do so love our Zoom calls! And you know I am firm believer that all things are exactly as they are supposed to be and will become exactly what they are supposed to become. If the universe says Shelbee and Nancy must meet in real life, we will! But the universe might also think that together we could cause too much trouble of the funnest sort so she may make an effort to keep us apart as a means of damage control! Haha. OMG, Nancy, I just smoked a lot of weed with my coffee! LOL Love you so much!

I think you absolutely got Nancy’s style right! And, it looks lovely on you! My mom was not sentimental at all, but I do have her wedding picture. I don’t think she’s wearing any jewelry at all! I do have a couple of her old rings and the diamond earrings Dad gave her. I’m hopeful my kids will treasure items I leave to them. I need to write little cards to tell the story of each piece…that’s if I can remember!
Thank you so much for calling me a Fashion Favorite! It means the world to me that you should think so!

Marsha, thank you so much! My mom was sentimental about some things and not so much about others. I am actually trying to be less sentimental as I start cleaning out allllll the stuff that has been accumulated over the years. I am so ready to be rid of all the sentimental clutter except for a few very meaningful pieces. I love that idea of leaving little notes with your treasured pieces to tell their stories. That is so special!
