Vampirina Vibes & Link Up On the Edge #98

Have you ever just thrown on an outfit randomly with mere comfort in mind and it turns out to be a hit without even thinking about it? This happened to me a few weeks ago.  I was feeling in the mood for the ease of a dress. It was a little cool out so I grabbed this long sleeve black dress that I bought on Target clearance last year. I love the soft lightweight crepe fabric, the dramatic bell sleeves, and the loose fit because it provides me with ease, comfort, and style all at once with very little effort. I was going to wear sandals, but like I said it was a bit cooler outside than I had realized, so I opted for magenta knee high socks and some old lace up pumps.

*This is not a sponsored post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

And out the door I went…not thinking much about what I was wearing at all. There wasn’t much effort put into it with very few accessories added and it seemed just practical for my purposes that day. Little did I know, it was going to be a hit at my son’s preschool. Hey, a hit is a hit, right?  And when a preschooler dishes out a compliment, you know it is genuine. Because no one tells the truth better than a 5 year old…especially when it comes to someone else’s appearance.  These young ones can be brutally honest, can’t they?

I actually had no intention whatsoever of photographing this outfit until this happened…after I dropped off my youngest at preschool, one of the moms approached me in the parking lot and told me that her daughter said these words, “Ralph’s mom is so cool. She looks just like Vampirina’s mom.” My response, of course, was, “Oh my goodness, that is so adorable, but who the hell is Vampirina? More importantly, who is her mom?”

So I got into my car and immediately did a Google search on my phone because I just had to know who this cool mom was whom I apparently resembled so much. I definitely laughed out loud at what I found! Let me enlighten you all…

Granted, my outfit definitely looks very much like Vampirina’s rather than her mom’s. But I am guessing in the thought process of a 5 year old, she is equating me with Vampirina’s mom…well, because, I am old! In any event, I was completely flattered by the compliment and headed directly to the park with my tripod and remote to capture my unintentional Vampirina Vibes!

So tell me, has anything of this sort ever happened to you? I have to say that it was a first for me! But now I know I can find my Halloween costume this year right in my closet! Vampirina for me! And a big thank you to sweet little “A” for making my day with that wonderful compliment!

I am starting the link up a day early because tomorrow Nancy and I will be posting The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book for June! The theme was Gingham and we received some pretty fabulous styles from our friends! Be sure to check out both posts as they feature different images.

And now your favorite posts from last week’s link up.

Elsie of Polished Whimsy shared her post, Color Crush: Mustard and Lavender Outfit. I am finding this unique color combination to be quite fun and flattering on Elsie. But it is all the details that have me swooning…her cute socks, those fabulous shoes, and the magnificent bag! And Elsie, you totally should have submitted your adorable lavender gingham top for The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

And Stephanie of The Style Safari shared her post, 5 Items I Bought and Regretted. I love the explanations that Stephanie gives for each item and why they were not necessarily the best choices for her. While each piece is supremely lovely in its own right, we all make these bad buying decisions, don’t we? And I am going to tell Stephanie the same thing I told Elsie, you totally should have submitted that gingham skirt to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!
