Turquoise Paisley Wrap Restyled
In my farewell to summer post on Friday, I shared this turquoise paisley wrap styled over a magenta sundress. Since we are still experiencing temperatures in the mid to high 70s, I am holding on tight to my summer wardrobe until I am forced to add warmer layers. So for today, I am sharing another way to style my bright turquoise summer ruana.
I wore this outfit in July when we spent a weekend in the woods in Potter County, Pennsylvania, and I never got around to sharing it. Now seemed like an appropriate time since the weather is still permitting light summer layers. Plus I do like to show that I wear the things in my closet over and over again.
Early in the summer (or maybe it was late in the spring), I added a few lightweight wraps with fun vibrant summer prints to my wardrobe because they are the perfect layering pieces with my summer dresses. For this iteration, I layered my turquoise paisley wrap over this seaborne blue maxi sundress (styled here with a floral kimono). I accessorized with my tan rope sandals, a tan woven belt, layered necklaces, and my favorite hat ever. I also left the ruana open with this dress where I tied it in the front with the magenta dress.
This outfit was basically my summer formula…a flowy dress with a lightweight topper. And, of course, I top off most of my outfits with a hat!
I am going to continue sharing my summer outfits until I have to start dressing in fall clothing. I hope you are all enjoying these last days before the grass goes from green to brown and then gets covered in snow!
What are you wearing for the transitional season?
Keeping it the edge,
Shelbee

What a beautiful kimono! I love those colors. The outfit looks so breezy, relaxed, and comfortable. I like the contrast with the straw hat, belt, and sandals — they set off the blue dress and the colors in the wrap.

Carol, thanks so much! I think accessories can really make or break an outfit! And I am loving all the bright colors right now. Not quite ready for anything autumn-like!

I’m also wearing my summer clothes as long as possible. I did want to buy some fall clothes today, but I could restrain myself. I do that when it gets cooler. Love your dress, what a amazing colour, so rich!

Thanks so much, Nancy! I have not had any desire to go shopping for fall clothes at all. What I need to do is another giant closet clean out and I will find multiple fall wardrobes in there already! Hahaha.

I know green is your favorite color, Shelbee, but you are stunning in this shade of blue! I love how versatile ruanas, shawls, and/or ponchos are. You can wear them with anything and twist them around to be something else. Your hair has gotten so long! I always forget to pull out my hats…probably because I’m going somewhere after the photos and don’t want to have hat head. It doesn’t take much with my fine hair!
I’m wearing lots of my silk Kantha Bae because it’s warm and cool as I need…does that make sense? Anyway, our days are still warm with cooler evenings…I love it!

Marsha, thanks so much! Even though green is my favorite color, I do wear shades of blue much more often, I think. I bought a bunch of these lightweight ruanas at my favorite wholesale website, all for under $10 and I have worn them so much this summer. Speaking of my hair, someone just told me yesterday that I looked like Rapunzel and that really made me smile! One benefit of this super long hair is that hat head doesn’t really happen to me anymore! We also are having beautiful day time temperatures with cooler but comfortable night time temperatures. But I think it is coming to an end soon. We start hitting the 30s at night next weekend. Here comes the frost. Ugh.

I LOVE the turquoise and blue together! I am in no hurry to rush the arrival of fall…which is a wonderful season but so quickly followed by the long, long winter, right?

Thanks so much, Sally! Fall has always been my favorite season, but it is so short where we live and takes us straight into the long, snowy winter months, like you said. I used to love the snow, but not so much anymore!

Simple outfit formulas are always the best. I have been mixing summer and fall pieces: still wearing sandals but adding in denim or a 3/4 sleeve top when I can.

I agree, Mireille! My toes are the first things to get cold, so I ditch the sandals early and start wearing ankle boots with my summer dresses. That’s how I combine fall and summer styles. I wish I could wear warmer clothes and still wear sandals but I think that will never be doable for me. Oh well! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

What a put together look and such relaxing, beautiful colors. Saw it at SSPS #281. Looks like there’s much to see and many good lifestyle posts I want to read. My shares this week are #63 through 66. Enjoy and be well.

Nancy, thanks so much! I do prefer a casual feminine laid back look for my daily wear. I hope you have an amazing week ahead!

I love the whole outfit – the paisley wrap is gorgeous! I have been wearing summer clothes for as long as possible but the weather is about to get quite cold now after a few warm days. I’ll be getting the knitwear out of storage asap! Thanks for linking up!

Thanks so much, Emma! The weather has finally turned to cold here but I am still hanging onto my summer kimonos! Today I layered one over fleece lined leggings and a tee shirt! But I think I definitely need to get the sweaters out.
