Thoughts of the Day
My life has qualified me as "experienced" on such topics as Army life, parenting, mental health, loss and grief, multi-tasking, and adapting to all things new (good, bad, or indifferent). I will share my thoughts on these topics and hopefully you will find some calm in the chaos knowing that others have been where you are.

The Goonies Never Say Die & Life Lately
Another weekend has past. Another Monday has arrived. Another blog post to write. I have to so much to say yet nothing at all to share. Because sometimes life just gets in the way. There are a million things to do but not a million hours in a day. It seems as if the list is never ending so I just take it one day at a time, hour by hour, minute by minute, hoping that progress will be evident. I have been managing to get outfit photos done, trying to stock pile them before my husband goes to Louisiana for a month and I am sans photographer. I hate…

Energy Healing & Link Up On the Edge #145
Have you ever been caught in a negative energy vortex? This just happened to me over the past few days. From maybe Friday until Tuesday. At first, you think it is just a bad day, but then the bad day turns into multiple consecutive bad days. Just a whole bunch of negative stuff piling on top of more negative stuff. Nothing tragic really. Things that are more just of the irritating nature which become super frustrating after more and more piles on. Suddenly you realize that you are the one attracting the negativity. Because this is the way the Law of Attraction works. One negative thing you can easily rise…

Wednesday’s Quote of the Week: About Endings
Lately, I have been pondering the way we, as humans, handle death, how we grieve, and why we all do it differently. In light of the recent situation of helping my 8 year old deal with his grief at the loss of a friend, I have found myself in frequent contemplation about our coping mechanisms when it comes to death. Death is a part of life. No matter how you choose to look at it, all life comes to an end. We have learned to expect it when people are older and have lived 80, 90, 100 years. But we cannot seem to grasp it when it ends too soon.…

May Birthdays with Ada & Sunday Showcase Link Up
I have joined Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood in blogger collaborations so many times in the past four years that I have lost track. But every year when she invites me to join her big birthday blog collaboration, I am always so excited to be at the party! This year she asked us to style something in red, pink, or coral for her birthday. I found this dress in a shade of deep coral hiding in my closet and thought it was perfect for a birthday party. I paired it with plaid tights, my fave combat boots, and a moto jacket…because yes, it is still too cold in Northern New…

Eight Years Ago Today…
Eight years ago today, this little guy kicked his way into the world, into our lives, into our hearts. Literally…kicked his way out. Born at 35 weeks and 4 days and weighing in at 6 pounds 15 1/2 ounces, we were not quite prepared for him. We thought we had 5 more weeks of preparation. He had other plans. We had just settled into our new home. I had spent the past 6 weeks tearing out carpeting, painting every surface, changing all the fixtures and appliances getting the house ready for our new addition. It felt like I had just finished it all, had sat down in my big comfy…

Childhood Grief & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #120
I had planned on talking about the Law of Attraction for today’s post. I even had it titled that way and sat down to write the first sentence. But I couldn’t get the words to flow. Because there is something else weighing heavy on my heart the past few days. And while it is not a topic that I would normally discuss in a #SpreadTheKindness post, it is the topic that is overtaking all other thoughts in my mind right now. And something is telling me that it is what I need to be writing about today. Maybe for me. Maybe I need your support, advice, suggestions, prayers. Or maybe…

A Very Special Easter Celebration-Military Style
I don’t often share much about our military lifestyle, mostly because it is just our lifestyle and we have grown quite used to it. But when major holidays roll around, that is when we most notice the difference between life in the military and civilian life. As you are well aware, I’m sure, military families are always on the move. Every few years, your soldier is reassigned to a new duty station, uprooting your entire family and moving to a new state where you know no one. Sometimes, you are far too removed from your family and friends in your hometown and simply cannot travel the distance to spend holidays…

About Blogging and Link Ups & Link Up On the Edge #141
I am reading a lot of buzz around the world of blogging about link ups and the new Inlinkz formatting and such. Lots of bloggers are having issues setting the link parties and the time at which they go live. Others are having problems adding their posts to the parties with the new formatting. So far, I have not had too much trouble creating the parties or joining them. My only issue currently is that I am being charged twice a month for the service. For those of you who do not host link parties, you may not be aware that there is a fee associated with hosting these parties.…

Florals for Spring & Your Own Twist Link Up #7
It’s time again for Your Own Twist with Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart. Monica and I decided to host a fun link up once a month (since we are both super crazy busy so why not add more projects to our calendars)! On the third Thursday of every month, we will host the Your Own Twist Link Up with the goal of inspiring some of our fashionista friends out there. The idea behind this collaboration is to take one common piece or theme and style it our own way with our own twist…Monica and I have both taken a lot of fashion inspiration from one another over the past few years even though…

When it comes to looking after your mental health, self-care is one of the hardest things to do. Whether you feel like you don’t have the time or you don’t know where to start, self-care is definitely something that shouldn’t be ignored.
