Outfits of the Day #ootd
I love to put together outfits. I find something calming and exciting in the process. And if I think I look good, I tend to feel great! Hopefully, you can find some inspiration here for feeling amazing in your own body.

Inspired by Pinterest: Pink Tights & Denim Shorts
With every day feeling nearly the same as the day before and the day before and the day before, I am seriously struggling with creating content for you all. But I am trying my very best to keep things light hearted and fun, interesting and positive. Sometimes the fun is just in wearing bright colors and crazy clothes because in all honesty I don’t do much these days except homeschool my kids, work on my blog, read when I can, and watch movies and television series when my brain is too exhausted for anything else. Overall, these weeks spent in lockdown have made me lazier than I have ever been.…

13 Things I Have Learned in my 40’s: Celebrating a Very Special Day with Ada
I am joining my dear friend Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood once again to celebrate her birthday. Each year Ada invites some of her blogger friends to get dressed up for a birthday party and share our looks on or around May 4. This is the fourth consecutive year that I have helped Ada celebrate her special day. You can see my past outfits that I have worn for Ada’s birthday here, here, and here. This year is a super special birthday for Ada. Not because we are being forced to celebrate virtually (we do that every year for Ada’s birthday), but because it is a milestone birthday for her…

The Truth About Birds & Link Up On the Edge #193
I dedicate this post to my friend Debbie of Fashion Fairy Dust… I suppose a more adequate title would be “My Truth About Birds” because what I am about to say is merely my own opinion and my own irrational musings and not at all based on any type of actual scientific facts. The stories below, however, are based on actual real personal experiences in my life. Birds are freaking creepy creatures. (See, not at all a scientific hypothesis.) I don’t like them. I never really have. And I have tried so hard to give birds a shot at winning my affection. But to no avail. When I was very…

Inspired by the NFL Draft & FOCO
Just because all of the sports have been canceled and many of us are mourning the loss of our beloved past times, it doesn’t mean that you can’t still show your support for your favorite teams. If you followed my Sunday Afternoon Quarterback series this past football season, you may remember that I converted from a tepid Pittsburgh Steelers fan to an enthusiastic Carolina Panthers fan. With the NFL draft for the 2020-2021 season just wrapping up last week, I felt like it was time for me to start adding more Carolina gear to my sports fan wardrobe. Today I am teaming up with FOCO, one of the nation’s leading…

The Magnificent 8: How Does Your Garden Grow?
When Spring finally decides to arrive in the North Country, the flowers bloom with a passion and intensity that any seedling would possess after being buried in the frozen ground for a very long and cold 8 months. I know. Because I am quite similar to the frozen seedlings. I have been so cold for so long that I am running out of patience as I await the arrival of some warmth and sunshine so I too can bloom with passion and intensity. And all this time spent in quarantine has further fed my desire to bask in the warm air while the sunshine gently kisses my face. While Spring…

What to Wear Hiking in the Chaumont Barrens Preserve & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #170
You might think I’m a little bit crazy (actually you might know that I’m a little bit crazy), but I wore tights and a dress to go on a family hike. More specifically, I wore my Sheertex tights and a sweatshirt dress to go hiking. On Sunday, we had this really beautiful sunny day nestled between weeks of rain so we decided we must take advantage of the weather and get some fresh air and exercise in the great outdoors. Since photo opportunities have been few and far between, I decided to also use the opportunity to take some outfit pictures. With that in mind, I got creative with my…

The Fab 40’s Interpret Harajuku
You are never too old to learn new things, explore different ideas, and experiment with your personal style. You can decide to reinvent yourself at any time or you can be content with the same old routine of you if that’s what makes you happy. For me, I am rarely content with the same old routine of anything. I get bored of the mundane so quickly which leaves me always willing to stir things up whether it is through my writing, traveling, music, or style. Life keeps us busy and structure is so important to keep us grounded and responsible. But really, that can get so painfully boring sometimes. We…

Inspired by Pinterest: Black Tulle and Combat Boots
A few weeks ago, I was scrolling through Pinterest to find inspiration for our next Fab 40’s theme, which is a really fabulous theme by the way, so be sure to stop by on Monday and check it out. During my scrolling session, I came upon these all black Gothic-ish outfits which featured voluminous black skirts (most of them tulle), oversized black tops, and black boots. While the style has absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming Fab 40’s theme that I needed to be preparing for, I found myself pinning all of these looks like an obsessed person. Something about them was just screaming to my inner punk rock,…

Sunday Sillies: The Diarrhea Song
I was paging through an old journal last week that was written in the fall of 2004 and I came upon a 7 page entry where I penned 75 verses to the Diarrhea Song. As I sat in my basement haven, smoking a bowl, I suddenly found myself in a fit of hysterical laughter. So I figured I would share some of the best verses here. If you do not appreciate toilet/bathroom/poop humor, you should probably just stop reading now and move on to something more intellectual, more practical, or more inspirational. I do have lots of posts in my blog archives that fit those descriptions, but this post is…

Celebrate Earth Day in Boho Style & Your Own Twist Link Up #19
Wednesday, April 22, 2020, marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in the United States. The first Earth Day celebration happened on April 22, 1970, as a unified response of 20 million Americans to an environment in crisis. As environmentally conscious citizens were witnessing extensive destruction to our earth through smog, oil spills, and rivers that were so polluted that they were literally catching on fire, they united in protest to environmental ignorance and demanded a new way of living and respecting our planet. This very first Earth Day celebration is credited with igniting the modern environmental movement that is in full force these 50 years later. Earth Day is…
