Inspired by Kathrine Eldridge Wardrobe Stylist: All Black with Burgundy Boots
When I think of a woman with incredible style and amazing sartorial taste with a very proficient talent for creating easy outfit combinations that any woman can wear, I immediately think of Kathrine Eldridge. I suppose when you have over 20 years of experience as a personal stylist as well as an inherent passion for all things relating to personal appearance, you do become a style force who ranks at the top of this fashion game. Kathrine has a wonderful way of mixing high end designer pieces with more budget friendly wardrobe essentials to create an eclectic and very appealing fusion of classic style with bits of bohemian whimsy and…

The Fab 40’s Showcase the Color of Love
February is that cold and dreary winter month in the northern hemisphere that we most closely connect with love because of the very commercialized holiday of Valentine’s Day. But it is certainly a great month to celebrate love because it is so cold and dreary. When it feels like winter may never end, we could all use a great big warm and comforting hug that wraps us in love to help us make it to the end of winter and welcome the arrival of spring. When Daenel chose the color of love as The Fab 40’s theme for February, it came as no surprise that all of my Fab 40’s…

Oscar-Worthy Outfits & Your Own Twist Link Up #17
Your Own Twist is a monthly series hosted by Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart and myself where we showcase our own interpretations of a chosen style theme. We share the theme with you ahead of time in case you are interested in joining us. You can see the upcoming themes below if you would like to create your own post around the theme and share it with us in the link party at the end of the post. With the 92nd Oscar Awards just happening a few weeks ago, Monica and I thought it might be fun to style outfits that would be worthy of the Oscars. Granted I will probably never…

Winter Break & Link Up On the Edge #183
Every year during the week of President’s Day, my kids have a winter break from school. I am realizing that this is sort of unique to Northern New York as most other school districts only have Christmas break and Spring break. When you add in this third long break during the school year, the end result is that my kids don’t finish for the summer until the very last week of June. However, I have to say that I don’t mind this mid-winter recess because winters here in the North Country are long and cold and those old winter blues begin to take hold some time around Thanksgiving (yes, before…

Inspired by A Labour of Life: Old Navy Checks
There are not too many blogger friends in my circle who can relate to the weather struggle when it comes to styling cute outfits and staying warm in heaping piles of snow. But Linda of A Labour of Life, my Canadian friend, who lives just 2 hours directly north of me in Ottawa, gets it. She really does understand the insanity that is the winter weather up in this part of the world. But not only does she relate to my weather struggles, she also possesses very similar sartorial tastes as mine. I know that we shop at many of the same places including Shoe Dazzle, Old Navy, and Target.…

I Get by With a Little Help from My Friends & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #160
I get by with a little help from my friends. Sometimes I need more help than other times. Sometimes I need less. Sometimes I don’t want any help at all. And sometimes I may not survive without the help. Sometimes I am strong enough to ask for help. Other times, I am too weak to admit that I might need help. I have the ability to reach out, isolate, hide away, seek assistance, talk it through, deny it all, help myself, and wake up the next day with a new found perspective. Sometimes I can get caught in a vortex of negativity while other times I can sit on the…

Eggplant Inspiration & Link Up On the Edge #182
I know I talk about inspiration often, probably too often, but I guess it is our inspiration that gets us out of bed in the morning, pushes us to be creative, pulls at us to make a statement, motivates us to do things, something, anything. It could be as simple as what you are going to wear today. It could be something as monumental as how you plan on changing the world. Whatever it is, we find our inspiration all around us and sometimes in the very unlikeliest of places. Like produce. You know, fruits and vegetables. Now I suppose if you are inspired to create a new recipe from…

Inspired by Is This Mutton?: Bowie Tee
Just last week, Gail of Is This Mutton? published a post, Every Day Outfits-Casual and Work, where she shared a super cool look featuring a Bowie tee shirt paired with all black and a fun pair of statement boots. As soon as I saw her Bowie tee shirt, I was reminded of a similar one that I had forgotten about and had never worn yet. So I took Gail’s post as a sign that I needed to get on styling with my Bowie tee shirt. I mean, who doesn’t love David Bowie? I am pretty sure just the mention of this man’s name or hearing a few chords of any…

Surviving Grief & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #159
With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, the blogging world is inundated with so much cuteness in love themed everything from heart motifs on sweaters and tee shirts, jewelry inscribed with words of love, and gift guides for all of your favorite Valentines. But for me, at least this year, Valentine’s Day weighs me down heavy with grief. But not my own grief. The grief of my child. If you recall last year on Valentine’s Day, my community suffered a great tragedy when an entire family was lost in a house fire. (I mentioned it briefly here and here). One of the children was a friend and classmate of Archie’s. And while…

Nothing but a Whole Lot of Something & Link Up On the Edge #181
Lately, I have been really wracking my brain to find my writing angle. I know there is something big inside of me that needs to get. Something powerful that will help others in their own struggles. I know that I have the nerve to address the uncomfortable topics in life. I know that I have the capacity to articulate the things that people may need to hear. I know that some of the darkest places inside of me are the places that resonate with even the most distant strangers. And I know in my heart that it is important for me to share. My problem is finding exactly what it…
