We are back with our quarterly collaboration of 8 magnificent ladies showcasing personal style that spans the generations. The Magnificent 8 is a collaboration among 8 style bloggers, each in a different age bracket, ranging from 20’s to 80’s. Dress of Many Colors & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #298
This dress of many colors needed many photos to showcase how fun it is and how happy it makes me. Don’t you just love it when an outfit has mood boosting powers? It also reminds me of my favorite Dolly Parton song, Coat of Many Colors. It seems my outfits have been inspiring my music choices recently. My last outfit gave me James Taylor’s Copperline vibes and now I am tuning into Dolly! Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton Back through the years I go wonderin' once again Back to the seasons of my youth I recall a box of rags that someone gave us And how my momma…

Down on Copperline & Link Up On the Edge #317
I am not sure if the title of this post caught your attention or not, but I really hope it didn’t pique your interest very much. I chose it randomly as I was loading these images into WordPress and James Taylor’s song Copperline was running through my head like an annoying earworm. A very annoying earworm, indeed, because despite how much I love James Taylor’s music, Copperline is probably one of my least favorite songs of his. But it does apparently have a very catchy tune because the damn thing is still earworming me a day later. Even though this is not a favorite JT song of mine, the lyrics…

We Heart Halloween (Tim Burton Style) & Your Own Twist Link Up #49
Four years ago, Monica and I launched this new fun style challenge series which began with our Halloween looks. Every year since 2018 our October theme has been Halloween costumes, making this our fifth Halloween collaboration. In that very first Your Own Twist post, we both styled our Halloween looks separately without consulting one another and ended up both creating fashion icon costumes. I portrayed Iris Apfel while Monica went with Audrey Hepburn. For our 2019 Halloween collaboration, we again created our looks separately and both ended up wearing giant unicorn heads. That coincidence really made us laugh! The following year in 2020, our looks were not as in sync…

Transition & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #297
Merriam-Webster defines transition as “a change or shift from one state, subject, place, etc. to another.” The Cambridge English Dictionary defines it as “the process of changing, or a change from one form or condition to another.” And Dictionary.com describes transition as “movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another.” These seem like simple enough definitions to explain a rather profound concept that permeates the entire human experience. Life often seems like it is an endless series of transitions. We are constantly changing from one state to another on the most basic levels as well as on the deepest levels of our existence. We learn from each experience whether it was a planned…

The Thrifty Six in Autumn Outerwear
This month’s theme for the Thrifty Six was chosen by Lucy and she went with the seasonally appropriate topic of autumn outerwear. Outerwear, meaning coats, jackets, or other garments that you would wear on top of your outfit, is probably the most thrifted category of items in my wardrobe. I live in a place where we experience winter-like temperatures for approximately 9-10 months out of the year. So over the course of a decade living here, I have managed to amass quite an extensive outerwear collection. When you combine the local weather with menopausal cold flashes, this girl needs all the warmth I can get from October through June. I…

You Deserve to Be Seen and Heard & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #296
Last week I was doing a yin yoga class with affirmations for healing and one of the affirmations really struck me as something that needed further investigation. The exercise of using affirmations during meditative yoga practices is not meant to convince ourselves of the truth of any one affirmation. Instead, the practice is focused on finding which affirmations make you feel uncomfortable and then exploring the reasons for that discomfort. The affirmations are simply meant to prompt further self-examination and introspection. The affirmation that really struck me during this particular yoga session was I deserve to be seen and heard. When working with affirmations in yin yoga, it is important…
