Outfits of the Day #ootd
I love to put together outfits. I find something calming and exciting in the process. And if I think I look good, I tend to feel great! Hopefully, you can find some inspiration here for feeling amazing in your own body.

Vegan Leather Leggings in Marsala
The week is half over and I am thankful that Christmas is right around the corner. I am so ready for it and ready for it to be done as well…because that brings us that much closer to J.’s return home from deployment! I found these awesome faux leather leggings at Target a few months ago and they are in the running for my homecoming outfit (with a sexier shirt, of course!). They are super stretchy and comfortable with only the fronts of the legs being faux leather. The backs of the legs are ponte. I really love the contrast in texture between the front and back of the pants.…

Blue and Gray for Family Photos
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. I took my boys to the Christmas parade in our town on Friday night. Then we had some family photos taken on Saturday morning and spent the rest of the day at a friend’s house. We got home just in time to Skype with Daddy and woke up Sunday morning all feeling pretty sick. Ugh. ‘Tis the season, I suppose. I hate that feeling of swallowing razor blades. I just hope it passes soon. For family photos, I like to keep it dressy casual and usually choose sweaters and jeans. Since my 4 year old only has one sweater which is…

Leopard, Stripes, and My Red Cape
If you have always wanted to mix patterns, but you are unsure of how to do it, remember this: One of the easiest combinations to pattern mix successfully is stripes and leopard. To make it even easier, pair a black and white striped top with a leopard print scarf. Throw in a splash of red and you look like you have known what you are doing all along. No one would ever guess you had doubts. For additional inspiration in pattern mixing combinations, check out here where I paired leopard with a splash of red, here where I combined a striped shirt with leopard shoes, and here where I wore…

Reader Request: Furry Vest with Jeans
Happy December and Happy Wednesday! The Christmas season is really, really upon us now! And fashionable comfort is key for me for long shopping days and other kid-friendly holiday activities. And fur (well, faux fur, of course). Fur keeps me in the holiday spirit! I previously styled my Cato Fashions Cable Knit Fur Vest with skirt outfits here and had a few readers request a more casual look with jeans and the furry vest. So here it is! I actually have seen a bunch of similar outfits like this one on Pinterest with a plaid shirt, jeans, and a furry vest. I wanted to keep a monochromatic color scheme for…

Thrifted Tweed Blazer
I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, and great food. Mine was a quiet, but enjoyable holiday with just myself, my kids, and our roommate, A. I have to admit deployment holidays are kind of a bummer, but we made the best of it. We avoided the hassle of a turkey and had shrimp, steak, ad chicken breast on the grill instead. And it was delicious! I feel rested and rejuvenated and ready to get back to blogging! So, here we go…on with it! I found this gorgeous Talbots tweed blazer in a beautiful autumnal color palette at my local Salvation Army Thrift Store for a…

My Other Plaid Poncho
* Note: I have been using the terms poncho and cape sort of interchangably. I understand they are different articles of clothing, but I am going to stick with my ignorant blurring of fashion lines for now…mostly for consistency in my posts. I published a post 2 weeks ago about My Plaid Poncho which showcased my red and gray poncho from Old Navy. And I thought I was satisfied with owning only one plaid poncho…until I saw this gray and rust one in Target. And it was included in a 25% off all women’s clothing sale, so of course, I could not resist. I was lazy and miserable today and…

Herringbone and Plaid
I have had this old herringbone swing jacket in my closet for at least a decade and it always makes its rounds into my outfits. It is the perfect weight for temperatures in the 40-60’s and it is classic enough to have decades of staying power to mix with newer trends every year. So you all know by now that plaid blanket scarves are a super hot trend this year. I recently picked up this one from Target to add to my growing collection. As I have been accumulating blanket scarves, I found myself steering away from the traditional tartan plaids, but then I realized that I really wanted one!…

One Furry Vest, Two Favorite Outfits
If you have been following my outfit of the day posts, you know I hate to pay full price for anything. But if I absolutely fall in love with something and it is still within my price point, I will consider a full price purchase. Just when Fall fashions started arriving at retailers, I spotted this cable knit back fur vest at Cato Fashions and I had to have it. I considered waiting for it to go on sale, but since it is such a hot trend this season I was afraid there would be none left. So I went for it! Then it hung in my closet for about…

Kitten Shoes…Meow
Some days I just want to wear my kitten shoes. And some days my kitten shoes are the most practical choice. It just depends. On this day, the cats were the only shoes that really looked right with my new clearance ($6 at Kohl’s) burgundy boot cut corduroy pants. These pants are so super soft with a fine corduroy ribbing and the color is right on trend this season. I paired my wine colored pants with a simple black cotton tunic, a pale heather gray infinity scarf, some argyle socks, and a handy dark wash denim jacket. Very simple, very basic, but with kitten shoes! You cannot argue the creativity…

Feminine Floral Leggings
This past weekend I had a shopping, movie, and lunch date planned with my great friend, E. It was windy and cool out and I wanted to be comfortable for sitting in a movie theater, stuffing my face with delicious food, and exercising (I mean shopping). I decided leggings were the best option, so I pulled out these super soft floral leggings that I got in the spring. (They are another pair of Lauren Conrad leggings that I have been raving about because the waistband stays in place with no hiking required throughout a long day of activity!) I think they transition well to the Fall and Winter because of…
