‘Tis the Season for Gratitude with Bellelily & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #191
As soon as October rolls around, I feel like we have to abruptly shift our mindsets into holiday mode. And I have to be honest, I hate holiday mode. I don’t like the commercialism. I don’t like the pressure to buy more. I don’t enjoy expectations placed on my time for the onslaught of celebrations and gatherings. And as much as I enjoy giving gifts to people, I really don’t like to be forced to choose something for the mere sake of giving a gift on a randomly designated day of the year, especially one that has drifted so far away from its original meaning. To be blunt, I really kind of dread the holidays.
And I know that I am not alone in this sentiment. I suppose this is one reason that fall is the season for gratitude. It helps us keep perspective during the extra craziness of holiday planning. During a time when so many people are scrambling to fund exorbitant holiday celebrations, I prefer to sit in my humble home amidst the mess of all the boy things that have taken over and focus on the blessings that surround me.
Oh the blessings. These messy, smelly, dirty, beautiful, wonderful, witty, funny, smart, and crazy blessings that fill my life and my home with noise and germs and laughter and so much freaking love it makes me wonder if I really deserve it all. When I doubt my worthiness for all that fills my life, I have to just focus on gratitude.
Whether I deserve all these wonderful blessings or not, the fact remains that I have them. For that, I am thankful beyond words. For without all the insanity, I am not sure I would have much purpose. And purpose is what we all strive for. Purpose gets me out of bed in the morning. Even on the most difficult mornings. And I am so darn grateful to have a reason to get out of bed in the morning. No gift bought in a store could ever create that same feeling. Give me purpose and I have everything.
This holiday season will be all about gratitude. And I will be wearing all of my graphic tees that showcase my sentiments. Like this fun Grateful Thankful Blessed O Neck T-Shirt from Bellelily. I love the pumpkin spice color of this tee for the perfect autumn vibes as we enter the season of gratitude. It is a super soft cotton blend and washes and dries perfectly. At $12.99, you will definitely get a great price per wear on this adorable statement tee.
You can save even more by using my special discount codes if you shop Bellelily from now until December 31, 2020. For size reference, I am wearing a 3XL in all of my Bellelily tees.
- Code SOEE10 will save you 10% off your order over $19
- Code SOEE15 will save you 15% off your order over $69
Disclaimer: This tee shirt was provided to me for purposes of this blog post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
I decided to go a bit bold when styling this statement tee. I rediscovered these burgundy plaid pants buried in my closet and they have the tiniest bit of orange running through the plaid which was a perfect match.
I am not sure I would have otherwise thought to combine burgundy and orange, but I loved the color palette once it was all put together. I just went full on monochromatic burgundy with my very old thrifted velvet blazer and burgundy booties. Not only would this outfit be perfectly appropriate for Thanksgiving Day, it is one that I would wear all autumn and winter long and straight into the spring. Because gratitude should not be reserved for just one season or one holiday.
What has you feeling Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed this year?

I don’t think of presents and all with the word holiday. It is the same as vacation for me. So I am thinking I use the word holidays wrong. But I loooove your trousers!! Wow, I immediately am looking for checked trousers now! That tee is perfect on it! Love those colors together.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks, Nancy! I guess the word holiday can get confusing because it means vacation or a special day filled with festivities. As for the trousers, I dug these out of a bin buried in stuff and was super happy to rediscover them! I want more checked and plaid pants now, too! Have a fabulous day, my friend.

I love, love, love this outfit…the pants are fabulous! I agree with you on the commercialism aspect of the holidays, it truly is out of control. I do however love the season. I’m not sure why…we don’t really have much family, nor were the holidays a big thing when I was growing up. I think it’s all the feeling of magic and wonder left over from childhood along with the coziness and of course all of the pretty twinkle lights. I have twinkle lights in my house all year, but I run wild with them during the holidays…lol.
Thank you so much for the shoutout, both for me & Katherine! xo

Debbie, thanks so much for everything! For this wonderful comment as well as your support and pushing me to meet with Katherine. It was an amazing session. I will share more about it soon! And I am with you on the holidays (although they were kind of a big deal when I was a kid). I do love the magic and twinkle lights and spending time with my favorite people. As for the rest of the holiday hoopla, I can do without it all! Have a fabulous Tuesday, my friend.

We have one of those same green disk swings in the park next to our house. Our girls love it. It also made me do a double-take, just to make sure we aren’t neighbors.
Wishing you a fantastic Tuesday!

Love the pants!! I really am going to have to pick up a couple of these t-shirts before Thanksgiving! I am so with you about the holidays! We have definitely tried to make everyone tone down over the last few years. While I enjoy extended family time, we tend to host everything and I am not sorry to say, I love that we go out of town for Thanksgiving (this is our 3rd year). Probably just us this go around but it feels good to enjoy family time on our own. As far as Christmas goes, not sure how it will go this year, there is still a little rift going on with some in laws so might be a smaller group. I think to me it makes sense to spend time with people you usually spend time with and not get together and spend tons of money for the sake of doing what others do. We try to be careful with how much we spend on the kids so I have been saving and plan to stick to my one book, one article of clothing, one toy and then some stocking stuff. With 4 kids it does add up. With toys, I really try to get something for outdoors if possible! Like you been focusing on being grateful! So much to be grateful for: even with the little one refusing to walk for the last 5 days: at least he crawls around and doc said no broken bone!

Mireille, thanks so much! You do need some of these cute tees for the holidays! They are super inexpensive and even more so with my discount code! Being in the military, it is always so hard to plan any kind of travel for the holidays until the last minute. And we always end up being the ones who have to travel. For example, this Christmas will be Archie’s 10th one and I think he has only woken in our home on Christmas morning maybe 2 or 3 of those years. We just made our Thanksgiving plans and Jeff will be taking the boys to his family’s so they can go hunting. I am staying home alone and enjoying every minute of it! I am so sorry the little guy is giving you problems, but I am glad you have ruled out anything medical. I hope your week gets better from here!

So very true, I am grateful for being alive and not being sick. We all need to count out blessings instead of just spending money. I think this pandemic was brought to us so we can start seeing the humanist side of things instead of seeing just the money and goods side of things. I don’t know, just my view.
Thanks for hosting and looking very nice. Love that memorial behind you. Have a great Tuesday.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Patrick, thanks so much for sharing your perspective on gratitude. I was hoping this pandemic might shift perspective for people, but I am not so sure it really has. I feel like humans are growing more and more horrible with every passing day. But I might just be having a bad today that I say that! It’s better to also remain positive even in the middle of a negativity vortex!

I totally agree! People forget the meaning of what the holidays truly mean, I’ve even been there myself. But we have gifts that are not only free but are more meaningful than something bought from a store

Mel
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Mel! I think we have lost so much of the true meaning of the holidays just in the past 20 years. The commercialism has grown so much with online shopping that it all feels so fake now. I am ready to get back to the heart of the holiday spirit minus all the overbuying!

That is such a cute tee! I love the orange and red combo too! I really enjoy Christmas and the lead up to it! I like to buy little gifts for people – I have most people’s things bought already, still have a few things on my list to get and some people I haven’t picked the perfect gift for yet, but I start looking in June and enjoy taking my time to pick things out 🙂 I love the excitement of Christmas time!
Thanks for the link up 🙂
Hope that your week is going well 🙂
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Mica, thanks so much! I love that you embrace the holidays and start picking up little gifts early on. I used to do that and then I think I got really burnt out from overdoing it for so many years. Now I am content with no gifts and quiet time doing special things with my loved ones. I think it is important to celebrate the holidays in whichever ways make us happy! I hope you are having a great week, my friend.

I’ve been working on the holiday campaign for my day job SINCE FEBRUARY—yep, that’s how much time retailers spend on these things! I feel like the holidays should be over by now, lol! That said, I’m proud of our campaign and I hope all retailers lean into a sense of gratitude this year. Also, those plaid pants are super flattering on you—love!
