The Sunday Afternoon Quarterback #14: Taking a Break with RV Share
Today’s Sunday Afternoon Quarterback post is going to be a little different from the norm. A lot different actually. In fact, there won’t be any college football highlights at all. This weekend is the college football conference championships, the outcome of which will determine Penn State’s bowl game destination.
Since Penn State is not playing this weekend, I wanted to take the opportunity to spotlight an amazing company which has been sponsoring our Sunday Afternoon Quarterback posts all season long. However, I have only added a short sentence here and there linking to RV Share for those readers who may be interested in a luxury style tailgating weekend at their favorite football team’s stadium. These links might have been easily missed in the middle of previous game day highlights so I want to make sure that I am providing adequate information for this really cool option in RV traveling.
I have never vacationed in an RV, however, Jeff has and he swears by it for multiple reasons. It is much more cost effective than paying for hotel accommodations which also requires higher dining costs. It is more efficient for traveling to events such as football game tailgates, either college or professional, or other outdoor events like music festivals (you know that’s my jam). Family adventures into the great outdoors are much more comfortable and rewarding done RV style rather than driving a car and hotel hopping or camping in a traditional tent. You can see more, do more, and be more connected to the environment which you are wanting to experience while still enjoying the comforts of home.
But here’s the catch, RVs are expensive to own and not everybody wants to assume that cost for one or two vacations a year. If you are the type of folks who vacation infrequently, RV rentals may be the perfect solution. Enter RV Share.
RV Share began in 2012 with a honeymoon. Co-founder Mark with his wife Rachel bought an RV to travel the country after they were married. They wanted a new experience and they wanted to go at their own pace, but once they returned home they realized they still were responsible for all of the costs of RV ownership even while the RV was sitting parked and unused. In an effort to offset these costs, they decided to rent their RV out to peers who wanted the same freedom of travel without the permanent cost of RV ownership. And this is where RV Share was born. Seven years after Mark and Rachel’s RV honeymoon, RV Share is the first and largest peer-to-peer RV rental marketplace with over 60,000 RV owners across the United States participating.
With that many RVs available for rent, you can search every specific criteria that you would want from drivable RVs to towable campers that sleep anywhere from 1 to over 6 people. You can choose your price range up to $300 per night as well as whether you are going to pick up the RV or have it dropped off at your specified location. You can also specify any other options that you would like or need in your RV rental from pet friendly RVs to various entertainment and kitchen accommodations.
RV Share also will help you plan your RV vacation with favorite destinations, top RV picks, and choosing the perfect RV for your needs. Every RV booking through RV Share also offers 24/7 emergency roadside assistance regardless of where you are traveling. If you own an RV, this is also a great opportunity to earn some extra cash through a trusted rental service. It is truly a win-win situation for both RV owners and RV renters. So if you are planning a vacation with all the amenities of home and the freedom to travel at your own pace, why not consider an RV rental through RV Share?
I am definitely considering this as an option when music festival season rolls back around. I’ve got the festival wardrobe, the cooking skills to come prepared, and a willingness to travel far for some great live tunes. Considering my rained out tent in August at Hickory Fest, an RV rental is definitely a much better option! I’ll keep you posted! In the meantime, if you decide to rent an RV through RV Share, please do share your experience with me.
Happy traveling!
Keeping it on the edge,
Shelbee

Looking very nice and I think that you should be their spokesperson. Very cool. Hopefully Penn St. goes somewhere good.

Thanks so much, Patrick! I think I just was their spokesperson! LOL. We will be finding out soon where Penn State will make their bowl game appearance.

Excellent info about RV share! We had a little travel trailer for year, and discovered that it sat most of the time. We also found we didn’t like it hauling it – a problem you have with an RV. However, my idea of camping is a hotel with a hot bath. LOL! Yes, I’m one of those. I did so much camping as a kid, it has lost its allure. But I do remember how much fun it was when it was new to me. I hope everyone gets a chance to experience it.
Love the top! I have a sweatshirt that is very similar. Its base color is black.

Michelle, thanks so much for sharing your camping/RVing experience! I don’t really like camping in a tent at all, but if I had an RV, I might be good with it! I think my top came in black and blue as well, but I went for he crazy bold red color. Actually, I think Archie picked it out for me!

What a fun and colourful top! So cute with the distressed denim shorts 🙂 RV share sounds interesting too.
Hope that you had a great weekend 🙂 It was a hot one here, summer has definitely arrived!

Thanks so much, Mica! Archie picked this top out for me! I was hesitant at first, but it is a really fun piece! I kept my weekend very quiet and stayed at home in jammies the whole time.

Thanks so much, Claire! I love the super long socks like this and I have quite a few pair. Sock Dreams carries them really long and they do ship internationally.

Fun fun sweater! I actually saw an rv rental place a couple weeks ago and was thinking how it would be fun. Except that with 4 boys we would need to rent a really big one so we wouldn’t drive each other crazy!

Thanks so much, Mireille! I agree that the bigger the space for all those boys, the better! But then if you go Rving at a campsite, you can just kick them all out into the wilderness!

Lots of great info about RV Share, thanks! We’re soon going to buy a RV. I say a trailer but hubby says a motorhome. Renting a Class A and a C sounds like something we need to do to see which one suits us so we’ll know which one to buy. Thanks so much for linking up with me at #RVersLinkup 1, open until February 20. Shared on social media.

Thanks so much, Dee! I think owning an RV would be so much fun! I look forward to seeing what you decide on and I hope you have lots of joyful experiences on the road once you get going!
