The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Winter Layers & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #262
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!
This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.
The theme for February is Winter Layers.
*If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.
Now let’s check out some of the favorite (or least favorite) new items submitted this month by my fabulous friends.
My fabulous co-host Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style
“Winter layering? Hell, I even layer in spring and summer! But in winter time, I always wear a camisole, then a basic long sleeved tee, then my sweater or blouse and often a cardigan or a jacket, depends on the thickness of the sweater. In summer time, I look a lot slimmer!! I love this combination of grey and yellow, all Good Buys, although I don’t wear the items often.”
Nancy
Joanne of Slices of Life
“I ordered this new mint green sweater from Target and almost sent it back since it was a rather thin material. But I liked the cut and color so much that I went scouring through my closet and I LOVED how it looked paired with my white cardigan sweater. I had never layered two sweaters together before but honestly it was just warm enough with this cold weather we’ve been having!”
Joanne
Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style
“You wouldn’t think I would need layers here in Arizona, but I do, haha!! Here is an outfit we wore to a night festival, so I was prepared!! I never thought to layer a sweater under my poncho before, so I was psyched at how it came together.”
Jodie
Michelle of My Bijou Life
“This jacket turned out to be a good buy. I bought it when I lived in Las Vegas and never needed it. But I kept hanging on to it, because I loved the color. Since we’ve moved, it’s perfect for Fall & Spring.”
Michelle
Jacqui of Mummabstylish
“I love wearing layers and it works for me, especially in the Winter months. Love this chunky jumper over wide leg trousers. I added my off white coat for warmth.”
Jacqui
Anne of Spy Girl
“My 2022 indoors uniform. It’s usually colder inside the house than outside, especially when the sun is shining. My torso has three layers, not including scarf.”
Anne
Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey
“Fall/winter are always my favorite seasons, because they allow me to put together more interesting outfits. I’ve recently discovered the layering power of the waistcoat/vest, so I’m sending you two outfits featuring my favorite waistcoat and sweater vest.”
Salazar
Rena of Fine Whatever
“Winter layers for a SoCal gal has an entirely different look than for those living in chillier climates. While I do layer for warmth, most of the items can be worn year-round because they are lightweight. A midi-length skirt with its own layers effect plus boots and a chunky cardigan are a winning combination for winter in my book.”
Rena
And me!
“Layers are my jam for staying warm in these brutally cold winters. I recently found this super cozy sweater dress at Target and I love lounging it. I bought it in two colors. Then I layered on this cute plaid poncho that I received from my dear friend Sheryl for Christmas this year. More layers can be found underneath it all, with a plaid shirt tied around my waist and a blanket scarf around my neck. All of these pieces were Good Buys!”

Thanks so much to all the lovely women who have joined us this month! Remember you do not have to be a blogger to join us. If you send us a photo, we will share it! The more participants we have each month, the more style inspiration for all so I encourage you all to play along…because it’s fun and we inspire others with our style!
Be sure to head on over to Nancy’s post to see some other inspiring styles of new things!
Up Next…Perfectly Periwinkle (or Anything Purple)
The theme for March’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book will be Perfectly Periwinkle (or Anything Purple). Pantone has announced Periwinkle as the color of 2022 so we thought this might be a fun theme for March as we head into spring. But don’t run off buying things specifically in periwinkle, anything purple will do!
Won’t you join us next month with some of your favorite (or least favorite) Periwinkle or Purple Items. You can even send two photos if you’d like to be featured on both blogs. Remember to include a brief description about your submissions. Please submit your photos and descriptions by the 10th of March to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can put you in the spotlight!

Thanks so much, Dee! I do love that rivets post! I must apologize for my slacking on linking and commenting. Life got super busy these past few months! I hope you are having a wonderful week!

I understand completely. I just started attending a few parties again last week. It had been a while for me, needed a break, you know?
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
I definitely know how that goes! I hit that point as well and really needed to step away from the laptop for a while and do some other things!
Mica - Away From The Blue
You do witner layers so well Shelbee! I feel I struggle a bit with layering in witner – it’s so rarley cold enough here to need a lot of layers, jeans and a jumper would be fine for most of winter, although I do try add scarves and jackets for the really cold days, I’m definitely not a pro at it!
Thanks for the link up!
Hope your week is off to a good start! Another wet week here 🙂
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Mica! I am only good at layering because I live in a climate that demands layers. So I get lots of practice. You don’t get the same practice because you don’t live in an arctic hell! Haha. But I think you do layers perfectly well with all your fabulous kimonos. And scarves totally count as a layer in my opinion!

Love your color mix today, navy and burgundy just says ‘warm’ – but duh they’re both cool colors – always difficult to explain!
Thank you for my featured pic today, and woo hoo I’m up next with purple too!

I just chuckled at that, Pamela! I totally understand how that would be difficult to explain but I think I get it! While I don’t understand the science behind color analysis, I do understand how different colors make me feel and which colors look good on me just by looking in the mirror. Actually, blogging really helped me with that when I started looking at photographs of myself in different colors. It suddenly becomes very apparent then which colors are wow colors, which colors are no way colors, and which colors are just okay colors. That is generally the advice I give people when they ask me for color help! Haha. I tell them to take photos of themselves and compare. Which ones make you glow and which ones make you dull? I am looking forward to seeing all the purple!

Michele Morin
I am about to begin packing for a flight to Colorado (grandson visit — and his parents), knowing full well that my love for layering is going to be a problem when it’s time to slam down the top of the suitcase…
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Oh my gosh, Michele, I just laughed out loud at the end of that! That is one of many reasons why I prefer to drive if I can because then I can overpack until my heart is content! Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful visit!

Nancy
I love layering and all these outfits! Especially Jodies poncho! Thanks ladies, for participating!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Me, too, Nancy! Isn’t Jodie’s poncho so fun?! She and I had a funny email conversation about poncho layering, too.

Deborah L Stinedurf
I love layers! They add so much interest to an outfit. I’m like Nancy, I layer all year ’round. The layers are just obviously much more lightweight in the summer…lol! xo

I can always find something fun, fascinating, or informative on your blog, Shelbee! Now you hav eme wanting to search my closet for something periwinkle or purple and find someone to snap a photo. Although, when hubs and I tried taaakong each other’s passport photos the results were disastrous and we ended up going to Walmart to get it done 😂.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Aw, thanks so much, Anita! I hope you give it a try! It will be so great to have you join us for next month! And I bet purple looks so great on you, too. Btw, my husband takes hundreds of photos of me in less than 10 minutes. Then I have lots of options to weed out all the bad ones! Haha. Take like 30 quick snaps and pick your favorite one!

OOOOOOH! Big thanks for the big feature!
So crazy that I am wearing almost as many layers as you! Haha.
Fun to see everyone’s Layer Tactics.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Haha I loved how our layers kind of matched in a way! That’s how I choose my feature photos each month! How they look in the collage photo. Thanks for playing, my friend. Layer Tactics. Ha. Great phraseology.

Thank you for the feature Shelbee! I enjoyed seeing everyone’s layered looks! I have layered a cashmere cardigan under my fitted blazers and you don’t need a ton of layering here, but I love being able to be a bit more creative in the Fall and Winter too. Such fun creative looks on everyone.
Enjoy your week

Your layers have periwinkle colors, your theme for next month! I love my periwinkle flowers. They last forever when cut and put in water. Such a humble flower that packs a punch. Blessings, Tina

Tina, thank you so much! I love the way you described your periwinkle flowers! Um….you should maybe send me a photo of your periwinkles for next month’s post! We never said it had to be clothing!
