Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit, a Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.

The theme for December is Pink Stuff or Barbiecore Style! By the way, Anne pointed out some interesting information to me on the topic of Barbiecore. Did you know that Mattel has trademarked the word “Barbiecore”? And I think we are supposed to use the copyright symbol when we type that word now. However, until I receive official notification from Mattel’s legal department I am not going to take the time to figure out how to do all that! In the meantime, let’s get straight to your gorgeous pink Barbie-inspired looks!

I did a retrospective (aka Flashback) here, but I’ve worn it 9 times since then! At $1.28 cost-per-wear, it’s most definitely a Good Buy! But it doesn’t stop there, because I’m also wearing touches of Barbie pink on my fabulous brocade/velvet Fluevog boots. They’re works of art, and always a Good Buy!”

I wore it the very next day that it came in (wrinkled and all because I just loved it that much!). It is definitely a good buy that I will be getting lots of wear throughout all 4 seasons. I just love the criss cross hem line and those wide flowy sleeves and it is so comfortable.”

“I got this cotton turtleneck sweater on Poshmark for $10. It looks good in the photo, but I felt like a striped pink pumpkin in it. It went into the reject pile during my Kondo Klothing Purge earlier this year [no joy sparked]. I’ve been steadily posting the culled garments on Poshmark, and this sweater made a return trip. And sold! For more than I paid! Woohoo! Bad buy, good sale!”

But the fabric is a really gross polyester and it had a few stains on the cuffs that were driving me crazy. So I said good-bye to it during my most recent wardrobe cleanse. However, my pink beret and pink velvet boots are both really Good Buys! I have been wearing both in continuous rotation for years.”
