The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Blazers & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #188
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!
This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.
This month’s theme is Blazers. So let’s get right to it…
First up is my lovely co-host Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style with one her favorite Good Buy Blazers.
“This is one of my favorite blazers even though it is not my best color. I have worn it many times and have had it several years. The inside is orange! I think this blazer is about 7 years old and bought with 50% discount. I bought it at the shop I used to work and as a manager I received that discount. So cost per wear is very low on this one!”
Nancy
Next is beautiful Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style with one her most worn Good Buy Blazers.
“I’m attaching a photo of my striped blazer. It’s been worn SO many times and has to be at least 10 or 12 years old. When I first bought it I thought the stripes might be too crazy, but it goes to show I’ve grown into that crazy!! LOL”
Jodie
Super stylish Catherine of Not Dressed as Lamb shared one of her favorite Good Buy Blazers.
“My longline camel blazer has been one of the best basics I’ve ever bought for my wardrobe – I’ve brought it out every autumn, winter and spring for the last six years so it was a very Good Buy! I’ve worn with everything from jeans to an evening gown (just as a cover up) and always look forward to styling it afresh when the temperatures start to drop. In fact I bought a similar one in mustard just to give the camel one a rest…!”
Catherine
The stunning Laura of I do deClaire shared her Good Buy velvet Blazer.
“This green velvet blazer was a good buy. I love the texture it adds to outfits and the boyfriend fit of it.”
Laura
The gorgeous Jacqui of Mummabstylish shared an old but trusty Good Buy Blazer.
“So pleased I managed to find some photos for this challenge, it’s just perfect for this time of the year. Hope this is suitable for you. This suit is yonks old, but the blazer jacket works well with quite a lot more than just the matching trousers! Bought for a trip on the Orient Express, I’ve got a lovely memory of wearing it.”
Jacqui
Next is the dazzling Emma of Style Splash with her favorite Good Buy Blazer.
“I have a lot of blazers, but my Pom Amsterdam bugs jacket is probably my favourite. It’s such good quality and I always feel great wearing it. It has adorable bug embellishments and beautiful lining. I get compliments whenever I wear it!”
Emma
The beautiful Leslie of Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After shared a few of her favorite Good Buy Blazers.
“Love my blazers and cannot wait to wear them again. It was very chilly this morning so fall is definitely in the air.”
Leslie
And now the lovely Kellyann of This Blonde’s Shopping Bag shared a brand new Good Buy Blazer.
“This is one of two of my favorite new blazers. I think they’re classic and I’ll wear them with everything!”
Kellyann
And now we have the beautiful Michele of @seechele_styles with a Good Buy Blazer.
“Here is my good buy: a thrifted leopard blazer from Amsterdam. When I was traveling I went to a swap fashion event.”
Michele
And finally here are a few of my favorite Good Buy Blazers.
“I have had this burgundy velvet blazer in my life longer than I have had my husband in my life (we have been together for 12 years). I found it at a thrift shop in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, about 15 years ago and I believe I paid a hefty $7 for it. It makes its way out every fall and winter without fail. I love the velvet, I love the color, I love the fit. Definitely $7 well spent!”
Shelbee
“I bought this Glen plaid blazer in Target a few years ago and it gets a ton of air time. I believe I have featured it in at least 4 different blog posts. The black and white plaid has proven itself to be very versatile indeed.”
Shelbee
“This striped boyfriend blazer was a find from the Torrid clearance sale last year. I have only worn it one time so far, but I see lots of styling options for the future for this fun piece!”
Shelbee
And now hop on over to Nancy’s post to see some more fabulous styles featuring Blazers.
The theme for October will be Camouflage. Remember to include a brief description letting us know if you are featuring a Good Buy or Good-Bye.
Please submit your photos and descriptions by the 10th of October to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancy@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can put you in the spotlight!

Cie of Naughty Netherworld Press shared her post, Tackle It Tuesday: Blogging with ADHD and Anxiety. She definitely enlightened me and shifted my perspective a bit for I can sometimes get a little snippy (just inside my head) about certain issues of blogging etiquette. I have never had luck finding the perfect blazer!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
I think it is probably the hardest garment to get the right fit, Tamar. I think tailoring is the trick to blazers although I never take the time or spend the money to do that because I don’t wear blazers often enough. Thanks for stopping by!

I love velvet blazers; I used to have a black one with black satin trim and I just LOVED it! Sadly, I outgrew it and got rid of it… I really should have held onto it though.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Oooh, I have always loved velvet anything especially blazers, Joanne! I have two black velvet ones which I kind of need to change the buttons on. They make it look very dated. I would like to add more colors in velvet blazers to my wardrobe! What a bummer that you got rid of yours. But there are lots of cute ones on Amazon!

So happy that we can start wearing blazers again! I can’t decided which one is my fave but the longline camel one is right up my alley. Thanks for the link up Shelbee!

There’s this blazer I’m eyeing from J.Crew but it’s a lot of money. I wish I could use afterpay with my J.Crew card but it won’t let me.

I hear you on the cost, Jennifer. I feel like blazers are one of the most expensive pieces. That is why I go thrifting for them! When I worked in the consignment shop, we would get so many blazers from J. Crew, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic and places like that. They retail for like $150-300 from some of those places and we would sell them (in like new condition) for $15! So you should go checking second hand sites and stores, for sure! Thanks for stopping by! Have a fabulous day.

Hi Shelbee
I should have gotten in on the blazers! If i was feeling better I would have. I am a blazer girl for sure! I have always loved blazers and wore them to college when other people were in jeans and tees ( not that there is anything wrong that! :-)) But I remember one blazer and mini skirt set I had that I wore. I just bought a faux leather blazer from the Nordies sale and cant wait to wear it. I love yours, I see you have an obsession too! Everyones picks are wonderful!

Jess, thanks so much! I definitely have way more blazers than I actually wear but I like to have options, you know! You do know how to rock the blazer look, for sure. I used to have a red leather blazer that was my absolute favorite. Oh and I had a dark green leather one, too. So cool. I can’t wait to see your new leather blazer styled!

Maureen
Would you believe it if I said I don’t own a blazer? I know party foul, right?! I just love how it looks on everyone else but somehow on me, it never quite feels right. After viewing everyone’s outfits, I am wondering if I should try again. Your burgundy and Laura’s green velvet one looks so stunning and the color is yummy! Perfect for the upcoming holiday season and beyond.
Maureen | http://www.littlemisscasual.com
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Maureen, thanks so much for stopping by! I find blazers can either be challenging or really easy to style. I usually opt for more casual styles because they suit my lifestyle better…like the boyfriend blazers and such. I just styled my burgundy velvet one again today! It will be on the blog probably next week.
