Polka Dots, Smoothie Bowls & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #32
What screams middle-aged granola-eating summertime hippie more than a polka dot maxi dress, a straw hat (featured in my post yesterday), rubber slides, and a smoothie bowl? *This is not a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I am just spreading kindness while supporting local small businesses. I don’t even know if that makes any sense. But as Rena would say…Fine. Whatever. I am wearing a polka dot maxi dress, my same old straw hat that I have worn nearly every day since it arrived, some comfy black slides, and I am talking about the new juice bar in town. Watertown’s newest food establishment, Atman Juice Bar…

The Dirty Little J Word
The story behind this post goes back a few weeks. It took me that long to process my feeling enough to be able to write about it. And it is taking a lot for me to write about it even now. Because it is about a feeling that I have not experienced often in my life. And one that I certainly haven’t experienced at all in the past decade or so. But the main reason it is so difficult to discuss is because I am just embarrassed. Really quite embarrassed for feeling the way I felt I few weeks back. Despite my embarrassment, I am going to share it with…

A Little Post About Gratitude & Link Up On the Edge #50
Today started out to be quite dreadful. It began with a feverish and vomiting child, miserable PMS getting the best of me in every possible way, a broken toilet, and gray rainy weather. I succumbed to the misery for a brief moment (well maybe for a good 6-8 hours), but as I am writing this I have decided to change my perspective. The child is starting to feel better, nothing serious but a mild stomach bug. The toilet has been fixed by my incredible husband. The PMS and the rain are still persisting, but these things shall pass. So enough of all that nonsense, instead I want to talk about…

Discovering Blue with DressLily & Link Up On the Edge #45
Green is my self-professed forever favorite color of all time. My eyes are a very pale shade of green and my mother always dressed me in green tones because they accentuated the color of my eyes. As a result, I have always loved green. I am always drawn to all shades of green in art, in clothing, in accessories, in nature. But for some reason, my closet is overwhelmed with the color blue, not green. So I was curious as to why this “contradiction” exists. One reason for sure is the limited availability of green apparel and accessories in the market. Even though Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2017…

Stepping Into Spring with DressLily & Link Up On the Edge #37
*This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Have I mentioned lately how I am longing for Spring? There is still snow on the ground here in the North Country with more forecasted for this weekend followed by some warmer temperatures next week with lots of rain. At least it will wash away all the snow. And warmer is a relative term here. I still can’t go with bare legs or bare toes. But that’s all fine since my toes are a wreck from being cooped up in socks and boots all winter! Time for that first Spring pedicure! Have I mentioned lately that I want all…

Love Will Prevail and #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #15
Love will prevail. These are words I spoke last week and it really got me thinking about what that means exactly. I was chatting with another mom and I was complaining about how exhausted I am parenting alone for the past 3 months while my husband has been away. And she replied with equal complaints about how difficult it is parenting with a partner who is there in body but absent in every other way. She went on to explain that maybe they were just in a rough patch and it would pass. They are 13 years into their relationship and 8 years into their marriage with two kids. They…

My St. Patrick’s Day Post and #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #14
With St. Patrick’s Day this week, I thought I would share with you a festive outfit that was photographed a few weeks ago. Honestly, it has been so cold here that I have not taken an outfit photo since last week. And now we are sitting in this crazy blizzard that is currently hitting the northeastern United States. So I have been basically wearing jeans, sweaters, snow boots, and a giant down-filled, fur-lined puffer coat if I have to leave my house at all! I have worn this black and white maxi tee shirt dress on the blog before but always in the warmer weather (here and here). But I…

A Myriad of Stripes and the Ups and Downs of Shapewear
I was going to write a 4th of July post for today, but frankly I’m kind of over all of the red, white, and blue outfits…I personally have been wearing some version of red, white, and blue for the past 5 days! I love the color combination, but now we are entering overkill territory. So here is some black and tan for you all! Happy Independence Day, America! I bought this striped maxi dress about a year ago from Cato Fashions and this is the first time I am wearing it…because it required some serious shapewear and I have been somewhat shapewear-averse. Until recently. A good friend of mine swears…

Gladiator Gladness
I bought these black gladiator sandals about 8 or 9 years ago from UrbanOG for less than $20. I thought they were awesomely cool and unique and you didn’t see anyone wearing gladiator sandals at that time. I loved these babies so much that I styled them with a white sundress and an armband of flowers when I renewed my vows with J in May of 2010 (our actual wedding ceremony was in January of 2008. I wore black combat boots that day!). These days, you can’t shop summer sandals in any shoe store or online store without being bombarded with about a thousand different options in gladiator sandals. I…
