Stay Hydrated with Copper H2O & Link Up On the Edge #121
A few weeks ago, I was introduced to the benefits of drinking water from a copper bottle by an amazing company, Copper H2O. The theory of “tamra jal”, which is based in Ayurvedic medicine, states that infusing the positive health properties of copper into our drinking water will balance the three doshas in your body (vata, kapha, and pitta). Eastern societies have been storing their drinking water in copper vessels for centuries because the copper will naturally alkalinize the water stored within it. Consuming natural alkaline water will help balance the pH of our bodies which leads to many different health benefits.
After having a wonderful and very informative telephone conversation with one of the representatives of Copper H2O, I decided to give a copper water bottle a try. Studies have shown the following health benefits that one can experience from drinking naturally alkalinized water. These benefits include digestive improvement, strengthening of the immune system, supporting weight loss, preventing signs of aging, cancer prevention, maintaining good cardiovascular health, supporting thyroid function, stimulating brain efficiency, fighting arthritis and reducing inflammation in the joints, and maintaining healthy acne-free skin. You can read more details about these health benefits at Copper H2O.
Not being a person who doesn’t do my research, I scouted around the internet for a while to find other sources of information about the benefits of drinking water from a copper bottle. I was not surprised to find arguments on both sides of the issue. Some swear by these benefits, while others suggest the research is not clear or valid. But all say there is no harm in drinking water from a copper vessel. So no harm, no foul, I have been drinking my water solely from my new copper water bottle for the past three weeks.
Now I do understand how research is conducted and how personal experience can speak volumes. So I have to be completely honest, I do feel great after these past three weeks. But I have also made other significant changes in my daily dietary routine which have certainly contributed to the improvement in my health. I have started drinking Shaklee meal replacement protein shakes every day for breakfast with a multi-vitamin as well as large doses of Vitamin C to keep the winter viruses away. From the combination of these new changes in my lifestyle, I have noticed a significant improvement in my energy levels and overall quality of life. And whether or not the copper water bottle can take full credit for these improvements, at the very least, my water tastes cleaner than I have ever tasted water before.
I generally only drink spring water because I cannot tolerate the taste of tap water…even when it is filtered. I simply don’t like it and I am very sensitive to the strange flavors I pick up from it. But I have been filling my copper water bottle with straight-from-the-tap unfiltered water. I know…gross, right? My husband can attest to my reaction upon taking my first sip after storing the water for 6 hours in the new bottle. I literally exclaimed out loud, ‘Oh my goodness! It tastes so clean!” It was as if I had never tasted clean tap water before. Maybe I haven’t. And that is kind of disturbing.
Taking the possible health benefits out of the equation completely, drinking from a reusable bottle is beneficial to the environment. Get rid of all those plastic bottles! I was very hesitant to eliminate my store bought plastic bottles because I could only tolerate spring water. But now that I have found a way to make the tap water taste great, I can definitely cut down on my consumption of store bought water. Another environmental benefit of Copper H2O bottles is they donate 15% of their profits to several non-profit organizations that work to supply clean drinking water in developing countries. That might just be enough reason to purchase one of your own. Good karma. It comes back around.
Plus from an aesthetic standpoint, these bottles really are just pretty. They are handmade using traditional coppersmith methods and in support of product minimalism, they contain no branding information on the bottles themselves. The bottles are available in 20 ounce and 27 ounce sizes with either a hammered or smooth finish. The best way to drink your water from a copper bottle is to store it at room temperature for 6-8 hours. Do not add anything but water to your bottle as it will pull too much alkaline from the copper. So no citrus, essential oils, or other flavoring should be added. For more information about Copper H2O bottles and how they work, check out the FAQ page.
I have been receiving lots of compliments on my copper water bottle as well as lots of questions, which always makes for good conversation. So I highly recommend giving one a try. These bottles also would make fantastic holiday gifts for just about anyone on your gift giving list. They do ship worldwide and from now until December 6, you can receive 15% off your entire order at Copper H2O by using code SHELBEEONTHEEDGE15 at checkout. I would love to hear from you!
