SIA Gallery of Style | Still Life by Kristy Goggio
It is gallery time, y’all! My favorite of all the SIA posts. Thanks so much to everyone who joined us this week!
About Style Imitating Art
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Terri of MeadowTree Style, and Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday, one of the hosts, acting as curator, selects an inspiration image that they will each post on their blogs. The following Monday, each host shares her art inspired outfit. Participants are invited to submit their art inspired outfits to the curator by 10:00 p.m. EST on the Tuesday following the hosts’ art inspired outfit posts. The following day, Wednesday, the curator will share all of the submissions on her blog.
You don’t have to be a blogger to join! You are invited to share your images on Instagram or other social media platforms. Just be sure to tag Salazar, Terri, and Shelbee or use #TeamLOTSStyle and #StyleImitatingArt so the hosts know you have joined. Go have some fun in your closets and join the SIA challenge next week!
The Inspiration Artwork
You can read why I chose this specific piece as my inspiration artwork here.
The Artwork
Still Life by Kristy Goggio
The Gallery of Style
These are in no particular order, but if you have submitted a photo and it is not included, please let me know and I will make the necessary edits. Sometimes emails get lost in the shuffle.
Marsha of Marsha in the Middle
Once upon a time, Marsha had the perfect dress for this artwork, but she donated it during an annual Lenten purge. But then she landed on this beautiful floral maxi dress in all the right moody colors to represent the painting. I don’t know what the first “perfect” dress looked like, but this second dress is pretty perfect, too!
Sally of Within a World of My Own
Sally has been wearing a lot of pink and blue this summer, so she decided to focus on a range of soft blues in her outfit topped with a floral shirt that incorporates the pink tones from the painting as well. What a beautiful outfit. I absolutely adore this moody muted color palette.
Daenel of Living Outside the Stacks
Daenel is back to join us again with a gorgeous kaftan that has been in her closet forever. The colors perfectly match the flowers in the painting while the black pants and clogs mimic the dark vase and specks of black and shadows in the painting. And how fun are Daenel’s glasses?!
Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey
Salazar paired together some beautiful blue and pink pieces and added her anemone brooch because it resembles the flowers in the painting. But the most fabulous finishing touch is her shoes! The color and the weaving on the top are perfect to mimic the color and patterns of the painting. Such a pretty outfit!
Terri of MeadowTree Style
Terri borrowed this stunning handmade floral and paisley blouse from her daughter for this challenge because she liked the way it plays with the abstract floral nature of the painting. Her fun fringed denim is a nod to the blues in the art and her straw hat and belt bag bring in the natural elements from the painting. What a great summer outfit and now Terri is understandably bummed because her daughter took the blouse back!
And Me!
I focused on the purples, pinks, blues, and flowers in the painting to create this combination of a magenta sundress with a blue floral wrap. The colors in this outfit really just made me super happy so I have been wearing this dress on repeat with a variety of different brightly colored wraps while I enjoy gazing at my beautiful new painting every time I walk into my bedroom!
Thanks again to everyone who joined us for this week’s round of Style Imitating Art! You can read more details about each outfit by clicking on the individual blog links or the images in this post.
I hope y’all have enjoyed what we have created! If you would like to try one of these art inspired style challenges, be sure to stop back on Monday, July 24, 2023, for the next art inspiration. It is Salazar’s turn to choose!
