SIA Gallery of Style | “Blue Girl” by Holly Hobbie

Welcome to the SIA Gallery of Style, my friends, and thank you so much to those of you who joined us for this round of Style Imitating Holly Hobbie!

About Style Imitating Art

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Terri of MeadowTree Style, and Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday, one of the hosts, acting as curator, selects an inspiration image that they will each post on their blogs. The following Monday, each host shares her art inspired outfit. Participants are invited to submit their art inspired outfits to the curator by 10:00 p.m. EST on the Tuesday following the hosts’ art inspired outfit posts. The following day, Wednesday, the curator will share all of the submissions on her blog.

You don’t have to be a blogger to join! You are invited to share your images on Instagram or other social media platforms. Just be sure to tag SalazarTerri, and Shelbee or use #TeamLOTSStyle and #StyleImitatingArt so the hosts know you have joined. Go have some fun in your closets and join the SIA challenge next week!

It looks like Holly Hobbie was a bust! We only had one participant for this Style Imitating Art challenge. Thanks so much to Sally for joining us! If you have submitted a photo and I did not include it, please let me know and I will make the necessary edits. Sometimes emails get lost in the shuffle.

Sally of Within a World of My Own
Within a World of My Own
Sally was inspired by the blue and brown color palette, summer layering, and the mixed prints of the Blue Girl’s outfit to put together a very cute and casual color blocked outfit. She incorporated the mixed prints with her gorgeous scarf.
Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey

Not having many floral prints in her wardrobe, Salazar paired a long plaid skirt (which mimics the patchwork perfectly) with a printed top in really pretty shades of blues and reds. The colors, mixed patterns, simple silhouette, and cottage core aesthetic of this outfit straight down to the shoes are just right for this challenge. I love it!
Terri of MeadowTree Style

Terri had no florals or patchwork either so she also used plaid as a workable alternative. Instead of a skirt, however, she opted for a plaid tunic over denim jeans with tan accessories for a countrified version of Holly Hobbie’s prairie vibes. This outfit really speaks to me. I actually have all the necessary wardrobe pieces to create something similar so I might just do that!
And Me!
DIY upcycle, tee shirt dress, patchwork skirt, bucket hat, boho style, Inspired by Holly Hobbie, Shelbee on the Edge, Style Imitating Art
My outfit came together by accident when I tackled my pile of upcycling projects. I turned an old patchwork skirt into a vintage inspired dress and then realized it was absolutely perfect for a Holly Hobbie inspired look.

Thanks again to Sally and my co-hosts Salazar and Terri for joining us for this week’s round of Style Imitating Art! You can read more details about each outfit by clicking on the individual blog links or the images in this post.

I hope y’all have enjoyed what we have created. If you would like to try one of these art inspired style challenges, be sure to stop back on Monday, September 4, 2023, for the next art inspiration. It is Salazar’s turn to choose the inspiration.

Keeping it on the edge,
