Shelbee on the Rags: Shaggy Raggy Garland
Just as the “Ratatouille” rag curtain inspired “The Everything But…” rag curtain collection and the “Not That Innocent” rag curtain led me to create “Unicorn Tears”, the leftover scraps from “Unicorn Tears” have inspired these adorable shaggy raggy strands of garland.
First, I made this super bright and cheerful shaggy raggy garland from the leftover “Unicorn Tears” scraps and then I promptly took it to a local flea market the following day where it was added to the front of the store “Furniture of the Week” display and subsequently was sold. Look how cheerful it is!
The previous night, I had the garland hanging on my mantel and apparently never took any photos. But I loved it so much hanging there that I came right home after delivering the first one and made a second rainbow shaggy raggy garland. For the second garland, I added all the reds back in from the “Not That Innocent” curtain for a darker yet still vibrant and cheerful rainbow color palette.
Side note: I was watching Young Sheldon while I was making the garland and it cracks me up that I captured Wallace Shawn on the television screen in the above photo! That man is seriously a comedic genius.
Once this second raggy garland was finished, I still had lots of red, pink, purple, and black scraps leftover so I made a third shaggy raggy garland in Valentine’s colors.
Since Valentine’s Day is next week, I hung the red and pink garland on my mantel and moved the rainbow garland to my living room entranceway.
I had not intended to leave the garland framing the doorway, but it perfectly matches all the multicolored rag rugs in my living room and now I kind of love it there. So now I am torn between keeping both garlands for my home or selling them at the flea market. Until I decide, they will remain exactly where they are, making me happy at every single glance!
But I did make a fourth shaggy raggy garland in pastel pinks, purples, and whites that would look so cute in a nursery, a girl’s bedroom, or anywhere in Lizzie’s house! This one was delivered to the market today.
Then I came home from the market and made this fifth shaggy raggy garland in autumn colors.
And wait until you see the adorable rag tassels that were inspired by the scrappy pieces that were leftover from the shaggy raggy garland and some donated bags o’ rags.

Oooh, I really like these garlands! The rich red and pinks of the Valentine one is my favorite, but the soft romantic mauve one is also gorgeous. And that accidental Wallace Shawn capture is terrific.

My daughter made one of these for Christmas years and years ago. Luckily, she decided it wasn’t her style and gave it to me. I love that red one! And, yes, that pastel one would be ideal in Lizzie’s house! I love that your original rainbow one is now front and center at the Market!

Ohh, I love that you have one of these made by your daughter! They are so stinking cute. I made another one today in fall colors. I am going to add the photos to the post right now. The red one is my favorite though! I love it against my teal fireplace. It just keeps making me smile so I guess I will keep it until it stops making me smile. Ha.
